Plinko was originally an experiment with Prefix Trees and log parsing. The general concept is to have a single end point you can send any data to, in a "fire and forget" fashion. Plinko should identify and parse the data completely without the sending system caring what it sent. The latest version supports named fields in the STL files for tagging data parsed in the Prefix Tree and anonymous functions for parsing dynamic message payloads. We now output JSON objects and I'm working on HBase integration. By outputting to JSON it also leaves open the possibility for on the fly in memory correlation between events. Read the included README before starting, it has a quick start guide and info on the constructors.

The ProM Import Framework allows to extract process enactment event logs from a set of information systems. These can be exported in the MXML format, which is the standard event log data format for Process Mining analysis techniques.

PurePostPro is a utility that is run via the PureFTPd uploadscript facility. It's one solution to centrally handling uploads from a number of users, and extensive logging is provided by a Perl+MySQL combination. The key feature of the software is that duplicate files should be detected, and incoming files have an MD5 checksum automatically generated. All upload details, including timestamp, uploaded-by, checksum, filename and location are all stored in a 2-table database. The software should not impact the FTP server software as it is run separately. Coming soon will be a complementary application that will run as a daemon and scan the logging database on a regular basis. Specific processing/handling will be available on a per-user basis. The package includes all documentation and scripts to help set up the MySQL database. The script is easy to configure for your own needs. Some Perl DBI knowledge is useful if you intend to modify the script, but not essential.

A wrapper for Python's standard logging module to provide a file-like interface. Allows legacy code that wishes to log to a file (including stdout and stderr) to use the logger facility.

PyLogAnalyzer is a tool that receives an input log in black and white, a configuration INI file, which contains the list of rules to process the input, and an output file where to save the results. These rules permit to detect an input line according to a regular expression (regex) or line number range, filter it, pass it, colorise in foreground and background, columnise the groups of the regex and enable or disable the rule. The final goal of this tool is to ameliorate reading long and difficult b/w logs, speed up the analysis and enhance day to day wearying activities. As common application, you can colorise adb logcat logs taking the example files and using them (and also, filter unnecessary lines). py-rrdtool is a Python module provides an interface to RRDTool, the well known graphing/logging tool.

The software program (SarBox) parses and analyzes SAR data in charts or text formats. SAR is cumulative activity counters in the operating system. It is the most comprehensive command which helps to monitor performance of various Linux / Solaris subsystems (CPU, Memory, I/O, Disk, Network, etc) all in same log. This makes it difficult to analyze since every counter data is dumped into the log file. SarBox helps to analyze this log file and present data in graphical charts or text format. To collect sar statistics from an environment, use below syntax [user@host ~]# sar -A 30 2 > sar_linux.log “30 2” reports for every 30 seconds and total of 2 times, written in sar_linux.log.
