Generating cells for electronic structure calculations from CIF files
CIF2Cell is a tool to generate the geometrical setup for various electronic structure codes from a CIF (Crystallographic Information Framework) file. The program currently supports output for a number of popular electronic structure programs, including ABINIT, ASE, CASTEP, CP2K, CPMD, CRYSTAL09, Elk, EMTO, Exciting, Fleur, FHI-aims, Hutsepot, MOPAC, Quantum Espresso, RSPt, Siesta, SPR-KKR, VASP. Also exports some related formats like .coo, .cfg and .xyz-files. The program has been published in Computer Physics Communications 182 (2011) 1183–1186. Please cite generously. -

3270font
A 3270 font in a modern format
This font is derived from the x3270 font, which, in turn, was translated from the one in Georgia Tech's 3270tool, which was itself hand-copied from a 3270 series terminal. I built it because I felt terminals deserve to be pretty. The .sfd font file contains a x3270 bitmap font that was used for guidance. The "source" file is edited using FontForge. You'll need it if you want to generate fonts for your platform. On most civilized operating systems, you can simply apt-get install fontforge, yum install fontforge or even port install fontforge. If you are running Windows, you'll probably need something like WSL or Cygwin, but, in the end, the font works correctly (with some very minor hinting issues). The easiest way to generate the font files your computer can use is to run make all (if you are running Ubuntu or Debian, make install will install them too). Using make help will offer a handy list of options. -

Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC) is at the forefront of enabling low-power inference at the edge through its pioneering model-efficiency research. QuIC has a mission to help migrate the ecosystem toward fixed-point inference. With this goal, QuIC presents the AI Model Efficiency Toolkit (AIMET) - a library that provides advanced quantization and compression techniques for trained neural network models. AIMET enables neural networks to run more efficiently on fixed-point AI hardware accelerators. Quantized inference is significantly faster than floating point inference. For example, models that we’ve run on the Qualcomm® Hexagon™ DSP rather than on the Qualcomm® Kryo™ CPU have resulted in a 5x to 15x speedup. Plus, an 8-bit model also has a 4x smaller memory footprint relative to a 32-bit model. However, often when quantizing a machine learning model (e.g., from 32-bit floating point to an 8-bit fixed point value), the model accuracy is sacrificed. -

AWS Deep Learning Containers (DLCs) are a set of Docker images for training and serving models in TensorFlow, TensorFlow 2, PyTorch, and MXNet. Deep Learning Containers provide optimized environments with TensorFlow and MXNet, Nvidia CUDA (for GPU instances), and Intel MKL (for CPU instances) libraries and are available in the Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR). The AWS DLCs are used in Amazon SageMaker as the default vehicles for your SageMaker jobs such as training, inference, transforms etc. They've been tested for machine learning workloads on Amazon EC2, Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS services as well. This project is licensed under the Apache-2.0 License. Ensure you have access to an AWS account i.e. setup your environment such that awscli can access your account via either an IAM user or an IAM role. -

BERTopic
Leveraging BERT and c-TF-IDF to create easily interpretable topics
BERTopic is a topic modeling technique that leverages transformers and c-TF-IDF to create dense clusters allowing for easily interpretable topics whilst keeping important words in the topic descriptions. BERTopic supports guided, supervised, semi-supervised, manual, long-document, hierarchical, class-based, dynamic, and online topic modeling. It even supports visualizations similar to LDAvis! Corresponding medium posts can be found here, here and here. For a more detailed overview, you can read the paper or see a brief overview. After having trained our BERTopic model, we can iteratively go through hundreds of topics to get a good understanding of the topics that were extracted. However, that takes quite some time and lacks a global representation. Instead, we can visualize the topics that were generated in a way very similar to LDAvis. By default, the main steps for topic modeling with BERTopic are sentence-transformers, UMAP, HDBSCAN, and c-TF-IDF run in sequence. -

It’s highly configurable but comes with sensible defaults out of the box.
