CloudPower is a Java application that offers functionality similar to that found in operating systems, for the World Wide Web. References to Web resources, whether they be static or dynamic can be arranged into sets. These sets can themselves contain other sets, allowing for resources to be arranged like files on an operating system. These sets can be saved and retrieved, allowing users to organise their cloud resources. Two graph visualisations (hierarchy and energy) let users quickly navigate the structure of references between resource sets. The energy visualisation is particularly good at showing this structure in a compact manner when the links represent information arranged as an arbitrarily directed graph rather than a tree. CloudPower also demonstrates how remote desktop applications can be displayed locally using X Windows, for any operating system and network configuration. A Java 5.0 (or greater) JRE is required to run the application.

The CloudToolbox web application provides a simple system to manage and control users dynamic instantiation of VMs on a generic cloud. The systems handles final VM user management (on behalf of the cloud provider), users quota, machines templates, gathering of statistings and automatic shutdown of the VMs when not in use. Using the CloudToolbox web application, an user can request a VM on the cloud, according to a given template. The administrator will then create the machine on the cloud system and associate it to the requester user account with a given amount of resources (ex. limited time, limited cost, etc...). The user will then be able to start and stop the machine from the CloudToolbox web interface when needed, and use it until the resources assigned are over and the machine expires. When the machine is not in use, the CloudToolbox will automatically undeply it, saving costs on the cloud provider

The name "Code Red" comes from our team name, the Red Team. Since the competition dictated a small team size, our professor split the class and gave each group a color. We liked the name "Code Red" and chose it to represent our team and school's color (UMass' official color is Maroon.) Only later did we realize that "Code Red" was the name of an unrelated computer worm from 2001.
