NOTE: development of place has ceased (a long time ago actually...) There are many other fully developed tools for managing system configuration (Spacewalk, Puppet, etc). Place was conceived many moons ago when these tools were less available... feel free to continue using it if you find a need though. Place allows you to "place" a file in its "live location" (presumably after making changes and testing) on the current system w/out having to remember where every file goes on every system you administer. Place keeps track of "live locations" via MySQL.

    regutils

regutils - Win9x registry tools in Unix C & INI file tools in Perl

Regutils is a collection of programs to help in managing the configuration of Windows software and systems. The utilities can be used to apply user and machine specific customizations on the fly as users log in or as machines are booted. They can also be used to identify and correct similarities and differences between software configurations. These may be helpful in debug situations or when consistency or differences need to be maintained. The regutils package was initially created and maintained by Michael Rendell at http://www.cs.mun.ca/~michael/regutils through version 0.10, but is now maintained here. Binary package download of the INI Diff and Patch utilities alone without the older registry utils can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/inidiffutils
