Hello. Most RS232 DB9 to USB adapters simply don't support the kind of low-level access to wire state which TI's special protocol used by the official BlackLink / unofficial "$4 cable" equivalent requires. On even remotely modern computers, the usual, sound advice is to just use a SilverLink (TI-GraphLink USB) for communication with older TI calculator models through the proprietary 2.5mm stereo jack plug using the DBUS protocol :)

libti*, gfm and tilp only deal with transferring data to/from TI graphing calculators (and in the development version, some pieces of lab equipment related to such calculators). Detokenization, edition and tokenization of programs are performed by other programs; TI's official GraphLink software from at least 20 years ago targeting contemporary versions of Windows comes to my mind, but off the top of my head, I'm not sure which newer pieces of software might support the aforementioned operations...

It's a good thing that screenshots work, it means that your Windows computer is correctly configured :) Unlike newer models, the 85 and 82 do not support so-called silent linking mode for variable / backup transfer: on the calculator side, they need to be manually put into send / receive mode. So, is it what you're doing when attempting to communicate with TILP ? I'm asking because I've already seen other persons unaware that the 85 & 82 only support non-silent linking mode for transferring non-screenshot...

BTW, you did not specify which version and type (32-bit or 64-bit) of Windows you're using, which calculator you have, which cable you're using between the computer and the calculator, and to a lesser extent, which is the OS version on your calculator ? ;)

If another SilverLink borrowed from a relative / friend / schoolmate works under your setup, then yeah, we'll probably conclude that cable damage somehow occurred. Maybe it just lost (part of) its original firmware and we're just seeing the lower-level behaviour of...

This is my cable. It looks about right - it says it is a TI-Graphlink, with a few letters saying 'P-0212'. Could this be a model number? My parents bought the cable. I have no clue where it came from. I called it a 'SilverLink' because it is a silver cable, and 'TI-Graphlink' is not really an option in TILP. The Debian version that I know definitely works is Debian Stretch Testing. Attempting to use it with TI-Connect and an old Acer Netbook led to mis-installed drivers and failures. I am starting...

I do understand that your cable has worked before under some conditions. I'm not dismissing your real-world experience, but I still really need more details to try and understand why and how, and be able to return more accurate replies :) when did you buy that cable, who was the seller (and if you have such information, who was the manufacturer) ? there's a huge variety of things sold on eBay. Please provide me a direct link to your cable model. I'm pretty sure it's no SilverLink, for the reasons...

E-bay. But the cable was detected before. it's only on this install when I'm running into problems.

Hi :) The reason why TILP (libticables) does not find any suitable USB device is simple: the Product ID (PID) of the device you plugged into your computer is not that of a SilverLink cable (E001), or any other TI calculator supported by libticables (E003, E004, E008, E012). "TUSB3410 Boot Device" and "TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter" do not correspond to the SilverLink cables we know of, which do not need the computer to supply firmware, and do no longer correspond to a kernel driver either....

Hi. I'm on Debian Buster/Sid (AKA Debian Testing) and I want to transfer things from my TI-92 to my laptop. Unfortunately, TILP Does not seem to recognize that it exists, throwing up a 'No devices found!' when there is, in fact, a TI-92 on the damn SilverLink. First, I thought that it was a 92 Problem, but plugging my 84+ into it revealed the same thing happening. I then thought the cable was damaged, but then I saw that it wanted drivers. I supplied it with the only driver I could find, but TILP...
