It would be fantastic if Audiere could output to alsa
aswell as oss - well really, instead of I guess. Oss is
almost gone nowadays, something that I noticed now that
I actually had to find and install aoss for the first
time in over a year to get this working,
Now, I have no idea how hard it is to do, but it is
becoming something of a must for modern Linux sound. :)
Hope it can be done!

Wow, what distro has no OSS?
(Agreed, ALSA support would be good. Patches accepted.)

ALSA support is a must. As while a system without OSS may be
rare right now, since it's deprecated it will be removed at
some point in the future from the kernel. Not only that, but
not everyone's gonna have ESD/ARTS/etc, so if you have any
audio playing before you start your app, no sound from
audiere...
I might even go as far as to say that not having ALSA
support is a bug rather than just a feature request ;)

OSS support is ify on most modern distros even using a well known lib like FMOD. I have had many end users complain about audio not working until I selected ALSA in FMOD, then it worked fine.
OSS is officially deprecated, so unless you want this lib te be deprecated, ALSA support is a must.
