I too am having installation problems, with version 5.3.4. I am working on a Debian 12.7 system, with GIMP 2.10.34. I had installed the repository version of gutenprint but it does not support my printer. I found on the gutenprint project page that there is experimental support for my printer so I downloaded, confiugred, compiled and installed gutenprint 5.3.4, after first uninstalling (purged) the repository version.
The gutenprint plugin does get installed in /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins, just like the repository version. But gimp fails to see the plugin, I do not see a "Print with gutenprint" menu item like I do with the repository version.
Is there a compatability issue or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Bob

Hello!
I'm trying to install Gutenrpint 5.2.11-pre2 on Ubuntu. After running
./configure
make
make install
I still see the old version of Gutenprint being used in CUPS web interface. How do i change it?
