It's a potential yes, the library OpenXr has been added to support VR but its still early days in terms of integration the introduction of PBR along with some pretty large modifications to the render pipeline have not helped the cause. This has kinda pulled the focus away from this feature. As significant effort has been focused on stabilising and fixing problems in this domain. Its a long story but to keep things brief, yes the intention is there, as to the when , could be some time.
