Hi, I have a problem with just one special character: ` It's not recognised by Klavaro. If I press the key, the cursor in the line at the bottom of window is jumping a little forth and back again, by the character is not printed. In an other application the character is printed but with a line below until I press an other key. Maybe this helps to solve or analyse this problem. Thank you very much!

In a discussion on Mastodon a potential user was put off to use Klavaro by the outdated look of the screenshots: https://mastodon.nl/@nicorikken/111140998855552140 GNOME has been a light-grey rounded look for quite some time already and this is even reinforced by GTK4 and Libadwaita. The darker grey rectangle look from the screenshots therefore feels outdated. Too bad as I think Klavaro is great software that integrates well in any GNOME desktop. Could you update the listed screenshots? This would...

Tipo aqui: ¨ Alguma luz?
From lesson 44 on, you can define and insert characters by pressing the editing button, witch become enabled. The hard work would be to define by yourself the quantity of characters and what are the ones you want more repetition. So, it's up to you to decide everything and create your personal lessons.
how do I do that ?
Também funciona aqui: clica no acento e depois na barra de espaço, pelo menos para alguns acentos. Não funciona com barra de espaço para acento agudo ou trema, pois ele insere apóstrofo e aspas, respectivamente!

Yes, they do not add, they define all the used keys, in a custom way. What you are looking for is too specific to be implemented. You can manually define the extra keys to be repeated and add then to the set of normal keys, by yourself.

Felipe Castro: Thanks for answering. If I make that edit will those be the ONLY keys I get in that lesson? I would like there to be a percentage. That is The lesson goes on as normal but 25 percent of the keys in the lesson would be those that I asked for.
Hi, Robert, From lesson 44 on you can edit the character set to be used on the lesson, ok? For example, edit it and put this: MN1234567890.,.,.,.,.,.,.,+++++++======-_____------|||||??????????
Aqui comigo funciona assim: clica duas vezes que sai somente o acento.
Ola! Pessoal como faço para digitar certo os acentos das lições 40 ao 42? Não estou sabendo como fazer, pois o exercício está exigindo somente o acento sem a letra.

Ii it possible to set up klavaro lessons so that the program will drill the user on a specific set of characters. I can touch type. I learned on a C+64 using a cartridge game back in the 80s called Mastertype. BUT I know I am week on certain keys. Like the punctuation keys and the number keys an M and N. Is it possible to refine klavaro's normal lesson so that I get drilled on a certain percentage of these keys each lesson. For example lesson five would be as normal but 25 percent of the lesson would...
Hello, I can confirm the issue as well on Windows. The "^" is shown correctly on the visual keyboard though. Note that in bépo, when typing "^" and the another letter when the accent can't apply, for example "L", it would write : "ôL". Maybe the bug comes from this?

I have little totally free time. I do not have much experience with bundling dependencies. This file is a build artifact and we put it in Releases. I’ll try when I’m fine. Ok, I'll try, thanks for the suggestion. There is only version 11 available for evaluation, so the Windows 10 issue maybe will remain.
Hindi support and memory leak fix
Ok, I have understood now. I'll apply the patch in next release, 3.14. Thank you very much! I had tested a lot that function and it was working even with a pointer copy: strangely, the original pointer got modified by the local assignments (g_free, g_strdup, etc). But I understand that this is not the expected behavior, so I have fixed accordingly to your remark.
You could try with a virtual machine: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/virtual-machines/
Without the patch it modifies a copy, not the original, that's the bug. Look at the code paths exiting that function (lines modified by this patch) that do... free(test); test = strdup(...); return TRUE; This allocates a string and stores the pointer to it in the function-local char * "test" which is immediately leaked and does not modify or write to the address of the original. The original still points at what it did previously, memory which has now been freed. To store the char * of the new string...

In that case, this is an intended behavior: the function should modify the contents of the original variable, as it is a pointer, not a local copy.

Yes, the Windows version is not updated, as at the moment I don't have anymore a Windows machine to deal with... sorry.
Thank you
Yes, these are the locations for saving user data. config/klavaro saves preferences and custom keyboard layouts. local/share/klavaro saves scores and statistics
I was searching for a way to do this in the docs but was not able to find it. I want so sync the progress and data across linux, mac and windows machines. Thinking of using git, but I do not know where the data is present. I searched for klavaro config files and found these to locations, ./.config/klavaro ./.local/share/klavaro Does backing up and syncing these 2 locations enough or is there some more files required?
I think a better approach would be change the keyboard system, so that it can throw isolated entities without combination, e.g. separated consonants and diacritics by just one touch, in order to practice and memorize the position of each function on the keyboard. Klavaro does not change the operating system behavior, so it should be made by external means.
It should be possible, but not for me at the moment, mainly because I don't have access to a Tamil keyboard and I can't understand it.
Thanks for quick response Felipe. All the Tamil consonants has this specific diacritic (U+0BCD). The keyboard is based on Phonetics principles that you can type these consonants followed by the other vowel diacritics to produce letters. A single keystroke is to generate the actual consonant and the diacritic. Is it possible to extend the code to add this feature at all?
Hi Baskaran, Don't know if I can help, because of limitation from Klavaro, the keyboard file is meant to generate lessons for module 1 (Basic) and 2 (Adaptability), and it is based on key touches, not compound letters, as it occurs with diacritics. That's why it treats everything as individual characters, to train the user how to get that specific function, so it may be used as compound letter when needed.
Hi group, I am trying to add support Tamil typing in Klavaro. I have a Phonetic keyboard for Tamil, which uses diacritics. Here is my keyboard file (tamil_in_phonetic.kbd) `1234567890-= ங்ண்ந்ன்ம்ப்ட்ர்ச்ற்[]\ ஒஎஉஇஅக்த்வ்ல்;' ஏஊஈஆள்ய்ழ்,./ ~!@#$%^&*()_+ ௧௨௩௪௫௬௭௮௯௦{}| ஓஐ௶௷ஜ்ஶ்ஷ்ஸ்ஹ்:" ஔஃ௳௴௵ஞ்ௐ<>? The issue is that it doesn't seem to recognize the diacritics and counts those as independent characters and throws the following error when I choose the specific keyboard: (klavaro:26810): ERROR : 12:51:23.795:...

The font "Monospace Regular" is the culprit. Changing to a different font solved the issue. Not a Klavaro bug.
Add missing semicolon at the end of klavaro.desktop's keyword entries
Install metainfo files in 'metainfo' directory (not 'appdata')
Klavaro has to be restarted for the language change to take effect.
Always show the keyboard layout
Hiding the keyboard is obviously intended based on https://klavaro.sourceforge.io/en/index.html: Clean graphical interface: Lending attention to gauges measuring velocity, errors, time, or a virtual keyboard floating in front of the student takes focus away from the task at hand for beginners. Their main concern should be memorizing the key positions by their tactile nature, not visually. Klavaro has a simple interface and will remain that way. I've created https://sourceforge.net/p/klavaro/feature-requests/44/...
Highlight the keys of the current exercise in basic course
Stop on error
Since the level 4 training info says "Here you will be required to use the backspace key to correct any mistakes", I'm guessing this is the intended behavior.
By the way, the About window has two close buttons (at least in French).
Maybe related: clicking on links in the About window freezes the app.
Once the profile directory is created, it runs fine without compatibility mode. I also noticed that the fault tolerant heap system gets triggered for Klavaro.

Yeah ô appears as soon as I press ^. I don't press it twice either.
Does it happen soon at the first press? It's very strange, because Klavaro has no code to change the key's symbols. Maybe it's an issue with the GTK engine that supports Klavaro. Don't know if I can fix...

Hi, In order to activate the Italian messages, you should set the locale environment to "it", meaning Italian. The way to do this vary from system to system, so can you give more information about your Linux installation?
