This is a great alternative to Microsoft Office. I have been using it for years and do all of my school work for uni with it.
It is free, easy to use, clean, and efficient.
The ability to save with Writer as .doc files is very handy for sharing documents. I don't think I will be switching to any other product, even if I were to receive MS Office for free.

Thanks to Apache OpenOffice I'm now able to say 'f*** off Bill Gates!!' He can no longer exploit me and it feels great

Though there are bugs and long time users can surely name a few, this project is a bright example of what open source can bring to the table.

Works great and is free.

Good to use open source application.

Version 417 constantly crashes in Windows 10. It needs an upgrade.Reply from Apache OpenOffice

This has better support for MS office files than Libre Office.

OpenOffice is a great text editor with a lot of useful features and basically it just works. No, it's not the best imaginable, but it is freeware and it is one of the best and most useful freeware apps I've seen anywhere, maybe second only to Blender 3d.

OpenOffice is a great FREE alternative to Office 365 . I have use these programs for years and have always adored them. In my opinion its more efficient and easier to use then the Office 365 Suite. If you are looking for an alternative to that than this is the program for you!

Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 has way better font rendering than LibreOffice 6.4.3 – no matter if on Linux, macOS or Windows 10. LO messes up the kerning and as soon as you zoom the document, it gets even worse – not so with AOO. AOO supports even ClearType. I also like that the developers didn't change the menus. I used StarOffice and OpenOffice.org since it was available for free – thus mor than 20 years. Moving items in the menus from one place to another and renaming things just annoys me. What I would change in AOO for Linux is the scaling option: in AOO 4.1.7 the interface can be scaled only up to 130 %. As I have a HiDPI display, it would be fine if AOO could be scaled at least up to 200 % using the settings menu.

A very good initiative, keep it up.

I've been having problems putting the English version on. If I type a letter every word needs to be spellchecked like I'm in a Spanish version.

Make it very easy to write some business or personally reports or things.

Absolutely the bestest!!! Just the right amount of features, without being so esoteric as to be loaded with un-intelligible acronyms for rarely used features, which, upon spending valuable look up time, soon become forgotten. Kudos to the wonderful team of dedicated volunteers that make it happen. P.S. I did not rate Support, as I have never used it; but I'm sure it would be excellent. P.P.S. The download could include options for adding the icon to the Task Bar and/or Desk Top.

This is the best they could invent.

Open source and many feature. Really good alternative to Microsoft office

I think it is better than MO. The main reason is this being free of charge. But it has plethora of features and it is an open source. It does everything I want it to do and it is user friendly. Go guys!

It is superior to Microsoft Office. It has all the same functions but it is less buggy, has extensive list of supported languages, plugins and a team of dedicated developers. Definitely worth to support.
