Excellent tool. Runs in place from download. I was ready to scream when I tried to compare my web site with the GIT repository of the site. Then I saw the pre-defined filter "Exclude Source Control". That did it. Clean compare on 4000 files in 66 folders. Two config file settings had changed over the years and it was easy to select them, edit the masters, and get them checked back in. Beautiful user interface. Thanks guys.

This programis miserably counterintuitive. And on top of that, it will not function as described in the Help File. It will only allow me to browse to a folder if and only if the folder resides in another folder, and NO OTHER FILES are in there with it. If there are any files along with the folder I am trying to select, it just opens that folder and tries to force me to select a sub-file instead.
I could not get it to show that there were 2 completely different files in the two folders I was comparing. It showed nothing at all, when I knew for sure one folder had a file the other folder lacked. It did not matter how I adjusted all the settings to show the differences, etc. This program is worthless to me, so I will have to find something else.

just what i needed to compare my photo files with the archived versions over 30,000 files to check. Downloaded and installed in less than a minute and then it went to work. If a 60 year old like me can figure this than anyone can! Great Job

Comparing two folders from the explorer context menu doesn't seem to work, but it works great otherwise.

Use WinMerge everyday for about four years to keep projects not under SVN control synchronized old school mode: Flash drive between two computers not network connected. The tool shows it age, but the job it does is impressive. I try to keep the projects to less than 5,000 files, just to keep the compare time down. At that point an SVN project is suggested.

When it works, it's great, though it could use some additional features to help with comparisons. Unfortunately, it doesn't work at all with files > ~100MB, and it now just wasted a bunch of time due to presenting a completely useless "Encountered an improper argument" error that just keeps popping up ad infinitum with no way to recover after spending a significant amount of time comparing a couple files. Bottom line is it could be great, but it's far too unstable.

One of the easiest to use, navigate and neat to handle comparison of folders and files. Very fluid in use, quite intuitive.

Oh WinMerge! A bit of nostalgia. I was heavily using it on one of my previous work. Very useful tool that saved a lot of my time and nerves.

Very good program ! I would say, it could be better to add a feature of comparing files in two directories, without taking into account the hierarchy of sub-directories.

Extremely useful tool, when you need something like this. I'd hate to see development falter due to lack of interest. I use this tool often, and keep coming back to it, as the only way to deal with thousands of files to compare/merge.
