  • nas4free is not stable, not intuitive in any way, hard to navigate and configure, and doing anything in the shell is nearly impossible. I recommend FreeNAS, it has more functionality, is more stable, and allows you to use the shell.
  • Excellent Guys! - Very goog NEWS! FreeNAS0.7.x aka NAS4free is still alive... Many THX to daoyama & zoon01 for their hard Work...! greetings from Germany
  • Brilliant news guys. Not so sure of the name but certainly 100% behind the sentiment. Looking forward to the future.
  • I have been using Freenas 0.7 for a long time and never had any issues... Indistructible, rock solid, fast, easy to use. The evolution (Nas4Free) is all of the above, plus a lot faster for me in terms of network performance (makes sense since it is based on FreeBSD 9 -not 7.3, so the drivers for various devices have evolved, too) I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to build a trustworthy NAS!!!
  • Excited! Looking forward to the first build. UPDATE: My first fresh install went into production this week. Running on ESXi5 (whitebox) and 2 RDM mapped LUN's (5TB+8TB RAID5 on an LSI Megaraid) - all services were up and running in no-time. Time to wave 'Freenas 7 Legacy' goodbye and welcome the new King Of the Hill: NAS4FREE!
  • This is the best news that you are still working on FreeNAS, a big big thank you for all your hard work
  • Nice to see that the original FreeNAS is still being developed!
