A CPA is a Certified Public Accountant, who has received a license that allows them to provide accounting services. CPAs perform financial assurance services (such as audits), tax preparation, and financial analysis and planning.
In the U.S., all CPAs must pass the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination. This test is created and graded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
