“Personal Duty” is the brand new chapter by pioneers of French electro, Space Art. Currently lined-up by Dominique Perrier and Tommy Rizzitelli.

Living legend, gifted keyboard player, and half of the band’s founders, Dominique Perrier, shows that the Space Art journey is far from over. Still sounding fresh and innovative after having been active in music business for almost five decades, is something truly exceptional.

After his debut presence on previous “Entrevues” album, you might say that drummer Tommy Rizzitelli could be seen as solid band member part of current Space Art line-up. Tommy once again magically follows in the footsteps of his father Roger (the other half of the band’s original line-up, who passed in 2010). The versatile heir not only clearly puts his own stamp on the new compositions of Space Art, but his characteristic way of drumming has a lot of resemblances with the sound of his father.

Guest appearances are by veteran Michel Valy (“Code Required”) and mysterious octave-pitching bassplayer Bruce B. Marshall. Mastered by the legendary Michel Geiss. Classic Space Art album cover designer Gilles Lacombe and his daughter Lilli are responsible for the striking artwork.

With “Personal Duty”, Space Art delivers a sparkling collection of inspiring tracks. Musically it’s likely one of the band’s most varied albums to date. On one hand, Space Art’s recognisable and familiar sounds, melodies and song structures (“Hello”, “Across the Corridor”, “Cyber Debate”, “Flying Higher”, “Code Required”), and on the other hand the many musical influences from funky and jazzy to classical (“Milano Velocita”), oriental (“The Janitor”), urban (“Goree Island”), and experimental (“Parolis, Paroles”), make the album a pleasantly
diverse exploration. And there can even be noticed a wink to their biggest musical success on one of the tracks (“The Janitor”).
