Like Chocolate by Spearcarrier's Ghostfox written for FAWM 2024 CAPO 1 (D) They were not your (G) blue eyes. (D) Your eyes are deepest (Am) brown. (C) His gaze, like (G) yours, was soft, Like (D) taffy. He was kind and sweet And nowhere near your league, But not half as bad for me either (C) I met him in the (Am) square by the (D) little coffee (G) shop (C) Hoping to see you (Am) on your way, (D) knowing you wouldn't (G) stop (F) We said hello, (Am) we talked of life, (G) we traded insta-(Am)-grams (G) I didn't see you (D) walking on your (C) way to work (Em) downtown. We talked about the weather His voice was fine like wine It didn't have your tasty tangy rhythm. I could almost taste your lips In my frozen chocolate drink While his smile seemed like sprinkles on vanilla. He asked me if I'd like to see a movie on date night I looked at my schedule and said that it would be alright He cracked a joke, I laughed a bit, I stopped to look around And I didn't see you walking on your way to work downtown. (G) At times I'll try another flavor; (D) A new thing on my (G) tongue (D)But cream filling and (G) strawberries (D) always hit me (C) wrong (G) Lighter candies are (D) not uni-(Em)-que; one is (D) always like the (C) rest (Am)In the end I (G) always (C) find that (G) I like (C) chocolate (Em) best We shared some cotton candy His hug felt just the same Although I knew you were not the giver. He wrote for me his number On a candy wrapper lined With warnings of cancer and other dangers. I had no real reaction, no allergies to fear From this confection meeting no matter how sincere I drank some tea while thinking how you won't be found Though I try to see you walking on your way to work downtown.

I have a photograph of me and you when you made me laugh. The stars shone overhead, like nightlights for gods twinkling in their beds. But you can't ignore their call in the night, and I will only do what is right. But the stars cannot hold me down. It's been some years or so since you stepped off dock and you had to go. I swore no love but you, though life outside time could not see me through. Now you've a love past the atmosphere, and I cannot meet you there. But the stars cannot keep me down. Memories change over time. Flesh turns stone and erodes every rhyme. In every path there's a fork in the road. I need to see where it goes. Maybe in that big sea my own cold love is waiting for me. I can't give more than my due, but I'll make this trek even without you. So cast to the stars the tides will do the rest, and in the deep I'll find my passage blessed. And the stars will not keep me down. No, the stars cannot hold me down.

Am C Am C G D In a time long past, when frost had kissed the dying grass Am G D Am A farmer met a maid of ice and snow. C Am C G D They shared their love each night (and) she filled his heart with such delight Am G D Am That from her side he knew he'd never go. (chorus) F C Am When the wind sweeps down from the hill F Dm G Her voice is crying for him still. F G F Am No prayer by man nor beast Can bring shelter to the least F C G Dm Am When the deadly gales call his name. Seasons drifted by (and) he stood frozen outside of time. His icey gaze was distant, young and bold. Those that met him in the town felt a chill with him around. His touch could burn you with a seering cold. (chorus) Jealous whispers sow spiteful words that start to grow Dread that makes the humblest of men sin. "Evil must be chased away," townsfolk were often heard to say. They set his house on fire with him (D) within. chord progression - Am G D Am (refrain) F C G As fire and smoke filled the sky, F Dm G He faded before bewildered eyes, F G F G Am Nothing was left to show but a trace of melted snow. F C G Em F--C--G And the frozen winds howled his name...oh ((real bad fingerpicking interlude that hopefully will improve over time) Am G D Am F G Am Countless moons have gone, (and) when the nights embrace the dawn The ice maid walks the frozen vale alone. Her heart aches for her love (and) she screams aloud to the gods above Bring back the only warmth she'd ever known. Calling for the love he once had shown. With the black wind's chill Her voice echoes, calling still. No prayer by man nor beast can bring shelter to the least As the deadly gales scream out his (C) name. When the deadly gales call his name.

It's Me 03:32
[intro sounds like verse] [G] It's [C] not [F] you... It's [C] me... [G] I don't think I can tell you any[F]thing you didn't [Am]see [Dm]We've made it back from danger. Time to [G]stride into the [C]sun. [F]For you the dark has ended, but for [G]me it's never [C]done. It's not [F]you... It's [C]me.... [verse] [G] Now our time is over and you've [F] come to say [Am] goodbye [Dm] You're standing strong as always with that [G] sadness in [C} your eye [F} You've always stood beside me thick or [C} thin lose or [Am] win [F} With every happy ending a new [G] dawn has to [C] begin It's not you It's me [verse] So while I hear the calling of the moving ocean's brine Please, Sam, don't feel guilty that you have to stay behind You've got a brand-new story you've got to write all on your own My journey isn't finished and this ending's mine [C] alone It's not [F]you... It's [C]me.... [refrain key of A] It's not I didn't notice while I fought the darkest night That in our weakest moment it was you who turned the tide Those trials and tribulations had to be so you'd grow strong Though I walked beside you it was me you brought along It's me. [verse] So how can I tell you what my lips just will not say Why should you think your love could take the pain away Some hearts when they're broken simply cannot take a mend But here now and forever you remain my dearest friend It's not [F]you... It's [C]me.... I'm the one whose future days I cannot hope to see I'm the one whose lost my place in time's forgiving stream It's not you, it's me, I've got to fly... I've got to fly... [wistfully sung]I've got to fly

about

I could sit here and try to be a superstar at my age, but the verse is strong and what I have chosen to do is make them my bread and butter. This album is me, writing songs and putting them out in places like songbay for those who sound better to pick up and improve. Yes, I have used AI for backing tracks and things I had no one to help me with.

Now that you have your panties in a wad, let me present this: 1. AI hasn't female-bullied me, tried to ruin my reputation, and caused childish drama online and at conventions. 2. AI hasn't ended a friendship because of some derangement syndrome, publicly made disgusted noises at a convention, nor really made any judgements at all based on a meme in my direction. 3. AI hasn't shown any trace of bigotry whatsoever. 4. The best part: AI isn't making overtures of playing together only to ghost me. When I load up my stuff I get results that I can pick and choose from without me having to pretend I'm someone I'm not nor dance on eggshells.

HOWEVER I'm always updating these songs because sometimes I have money throw at living people towards making a song more human and less computer. Sometimes that baritone ukulele is actually my playing. I prefer to play and mix things myself. These songs are recorded at home doing the best I can to compress and master. These songs aren't me trying to be a radio star. These songs are me presenting my works so others might perform them.

My instruments of choice here are baritone ukulele, concert ukulele, tambourine and voice. I hope you enjoy.

When this album is complete, I hope to see it on vinyl. Because I can.
