La pandémie de COVID-19 a fait perdre du temps à beaucoup de monde mais pas à MC Dälek qui en a profité pour se consacrer à une série de Méditations et ça lui a été bénéfique car Dälek revient en force avec Precipice. Il a retrouvé toute son agressivité avec une voix éraillée qui s'approche parfois du hardcore. En matière d'instrus, le duo de New Jersey rappelle qu'il n'a de leçon à recevoir de personne : par leur côté bruitiste et ésotériques, elles font subir une inexorable descente en enfer.

Quand une grande partie des albums de Dälek atteint presque le tour de cadran, Asphalt For Eden dépasse à peine les trente-huit minutes (il est même plus court que Negro Necro Nekros). En revanche, il est intense. C'est un album de la déprime urbaine : nous avons le droit à un paradis mais il est fabriqué de toutes pièces, surveillé et couvert de béton ("I'm trying to breathe / Motherfuckers let us breathe") ; le drone est irrespirable. Mais il y a quand même un son éthéré et paradisiaque...

Been a fan of Justin Broadrick for a while now and I’m only just now getting around to checking out Techno Animal. This makes for a third time the man has blown me away, cool to see these relatively lost relics getting the reissues they deserve.
