Celebrate

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Nicky Foden our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently today is Sibling Day, make a card that shows a sibling how special they are, if you don't have a sibling make a card for a friend you love like a sibling.

For my card today I pulled out an older stamp set from Paper Pretties called Best Friends, I thought they might look a little like sisters.

I created a Slimline Card using Whimsy Stamps Slimline Hearts Background die. I die cut the background panel from white cardstock, I then adhered the background to bright pink cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front. I adhered the background to the pink rectangle and then covered the exposed adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. I layered the panel to a scalloped rectangle which I die cut using Whimsy Stamps Slimline Scallop Peekaboo die set. My card was then adhered to a side folding Slimline Card that measures 3 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches.

I added the Catherine Pooler "Celebrate" die to the top portion of my card.

For the inside of my card I created a pop-up card by using a simple box pop-up which is 1/2 inches square.

I added the birthday sentiment from Concord & 9th's Perfect Pairings Birthday die set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

You Rock My World

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Tracey Farr our challenge hostess for the month finishes off her month with one last challenge.

Get your Retro on! Make a card in a "Retro' theme. Interpret 'Retro' any way you like!

It took me a while to figure out what to do for this challenge. Finally after playing with Trinity Stamps Slimline Room Builder die set, I wondered what it would be like to turn the wood floor into a black and white checkered floor to resemble an old fashioned diner. I added a piece of pink patterned paper to the top portion of the room and then used an old PSX record stamp to decorate the panel.

I used Paper Pretties "Dreamboat" stamp set, or the couple in the centre of the card. The table is an older stamp from EccenTricks. I added a couple of ice creams to the table from an older Crafter's Companion stamp set. I added the jukebox to the right hand side of the card.

For the inside of the card, I added two more pattern paper panels to the top and bottom edges of the card that were stamped using the records I used on the front of the card.

I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label pop-up die set. Both sentiments used on this card are from Honey Bee Stamps.

Howdy Just Chicken In

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Karen Ostergard.

Apparently today is National Fried Chicken Day in the U.S.  For today's challenge, create a card with a bird on it.

Seeing it is National Fried Chicken Day, I decided the bird I would use on my card would be Karen Burniston's new chicken die from the Chicken, Pig and Lamb die set.

I have created a pop stand card using the Barn Pop Stand Card die set, which is being re-released. For something different I decided to create a pink barn. Karen Burniston recently shared with the Design Team an idea of using the fence from the Farm Edges die set on either side of the barn. As I was adding chickens to my card I decided to add the chicken wire instead of the fence.

The barn doors open up to reveal another chicken inside the barn which is behind some chicken wire.

I added the fence from the Farm Edges die set. I added another chicken on the left hand side of my card and a sentiment on the right which is layered onto the rectangle from the Rectangles - Crosshatch die set.

This is a view of the back of my card. I used the tractor border which is also from the Farm Edges die set and a sun which is from the Tropical Scene die set.

One last photo of the inside of the card showing an overhead shot of my card, so you can see the whole card at one time.

For the front of the card I added two of the papers I used on the inside. I also added the fence to separate the two papers.

On the lower left hand corner I added another chicken to which I added a hat and pitchfork which are from the Accessories 3 die set.

On the top right hand side of the card I added the "Howdy" sentiment from the Howdy die set. I then added the "Chicken In" sentiment which is from an old stamp set in my stash which unfortunately is no longer available. After stamping the sentiment onto my cardstock, I then used one of the arms from the Photo Collage Pop-up to die cut the sentiment. I love when you find another use for a die.

Have A Rockin' Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Apparently today (12th August) is Vinyl Record Day, if you haven't heard vinyl records are making a big comeback.

Altenew recently released a die called Fine Frames Circles (the die actually die cuts individual circles which can be used to decorate your cards) When I first saw this die being used I immediately thought this would make an awesome record so of course added that to my order I was placing at the time. Seeing I had the die and I discovered this special day I decided it was as good an excuse as any to pull out the die and make a card.

To create the front of my card I used the die to die cut seven "vinyl records from black cardstock and adhered them to the front panel of my card. I also used the die to cut out the centres from colored cardstock and adhered them to each "record"

The sentiment is from a stamp set from The Stamps of Life which I die cut using a slightly larger circle and attached this record to the card using foam tape.

Back when Karen Burniston was designing for Sizzix, I made a pop up card using the Sizzix Jukebox so I decided to pull it out for my card today and create an updated pop-up card using Karen's newer dies. You can see my previous card here

To start my pop up card I started by creating the floor. I was planning on using a checkerboard stencil to create my floor and then while I was looking for my stencils from the one I wanted I came across this Square Dance Stencil from Simon Says Stamp which I thought would make an awesome floor.

To create the pop-up part of the card I used the Karen Burniston's Upsy Daisy Pop-up die set. I attached the pop up arms that come in the die set slightly in from each side so the objects placed on the pop up would be slightly closer to the centre.

I used the Sizzix Jukebox & Music Thinlits die set to create the jukebox, I think this die is now discontinued.

After looking through my stash I discovered this cute dancing couple which I though would work well with the jukebox. This is a stamp set from Paper Pretties which is no longer in business.

To create the background of my card, I used Lawn Fawn's Little Music Notes die set.

To finish off the card I added another sentiment from the stamp set I used for the front of the card which I stamped onto the labels from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set.

Sliding By

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Our challenge hostess for the month Anne Harmon finishes off the month with one last challenge.

Apparently it’s baseball season again.  Promote your favorite team, their colors, or just a baseball theme.

Baseball isn't as popular in Australia as it is in the USA, I guess we are more into cricket! I do remember seeing a game at the Sydney Olympics and did enough the game.

I do however have a number of baseball themed stamps and designer papers for some reason so I had no excuse on being able to make a baseball themed card :).

As you can see I used the Hanging Pull Tab Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This time around I decided to cut a circle using the Fitted Circles die set and create a giant baseball to put on the Pull Tab.

I used an older Paper Pretties stamp set for the baseball player which I cut out using my Scan N Cut.

The sentiment which is reveal when the tab is pull or slides up is an older stamp set from MFT Stamps ... I figured it worked with both the baseball theme and the style of card I created.

Here is another look at my card taken at a different angle, so you can see how the pull tab slides up.

Here is a close up of my card when the Pull Tab is closed.

And finally the back of my card. I used a couple more stamps on some more baseball themed designer paper.

What the Cluck

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As the challenge hostess for the month I continue to issue the challenges.

Saturday is Poultry Day. So let's be inspired by Poultry when creating our cards this week… Chickens; Ducks; Turkeys; Geese; Emus; Ostriches etc or Eggs. As Easter is just over a week away, you could create an Easter card but this is optional. Bonus points if you  include Green on your card to celebrate St Patricks Day which is today.

For my card this week I decided to create an accordion card using the Oval Accordion Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I pulled out my Chicken stamp sets from Paper Pretties to decorate my card ... love all the fun sentiments in this set.

I used the speech bubble from the Rectangle Accordion for the sentiment on the left hand panel and also the front of my card. I also used the Corners 1 die set to decorate some of the corners.

I was so busy making the card and trying to keep my new dog happy as it was wanting my attention, that I forgot to add green to my card ..... oops! Guess I don't get bonus points! :)

Karen Burniston September Designer Challenge Card 1

KBDCwitchingwm

Hi everyone,

It's time for our September Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, this time round the theme Karen has given us is Spooky September! - let's get people in the mood for some Halloween crafting using Pop it Ups. Any style of project.

For my card today I have created a Double Circle Spiral Pull Card using the Circle Spiral Pull Card Die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To create the Double Circle Pull Card I cut my black card to 5 1/4 inches x 11 inches and then scored at 4 inches at both ends. Placed my die on the first score line and die cut it and then I did the same on the second score line. I cut another piece of black card which I placed in the middle section to hid the holes from the closures.

KBDCwitching2wm

To decorate my card, I used Tim Holtz’ Shatter Layering Stencil and white ink on the black card and on all the white pieces I die the same but with black ink, sponging very softly so the ink wasn’t too black.

Here you can see my card partly opened. I used Paper Pretties Witch Sophia which comes with the cute witch stamp and all the fun sentiments used on this card.

On the inside right hand circle I added the clock from Karen Burniston’s Clock and Gears Die set to which I added the Witching Hour sentiment … partly with stamps and some hand written.

KBDCwitching3wm

When you open the card fully you can see the clear acetate spiral piece which is attached to the inside left circle on this spiral I have added eyes from the Poppy The Owl Character Die set.

On the top left hand corner I have die cut a circle using yellow card, the circle is from the Circle Accordion Card die set. I used the moustache from the Props 1 Die set to create my bats.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Photo Continental.

Don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month. I will also be back  tomorrow with another card to share with you for this challenge.

Dies: Circle Spiral Pull Card; Circle Accordion Card; Poppy the Owl; Clock and Gears; Props 1 – designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs
Other: Black Ink; White Ink; Shatter Layering Stencil – Tim Holtz; Acetate; Orange Brad; Foam Tape; Copics

Cha-Ching!

CCEE1423Money1-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month we have a new challenge hostess which is Anne Harmon.

For our challenge this week the theme is Money. Apparently the first Monday in June is Bank Holiday in Ireland. In honor of our member from the Emerald Isle, please make a card using cash, coins, or green.

CCEE1423Money2-wm

As I have money stamps (surprise, surprise LOL!) I decided to go with that them for my card today. And as I love using my Pop-Up dies I created a pop up card using the Lucy Label Pop-Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

CCEE1423Money3-wm

For the inside of my card I decided to use one of the Piggy Banks from Paper Pretties “Penny For Your Thoughts” stamp set. I decided to swap out the coin from the set from one of our Aussie coins which I also have as stamps … the one going in the piggy bank is our $2 coin. I also added an arm which is reaching out to the piggy bank.

CCEE1423Money-wm

For the front of my card I added an open hand and two more coins (our $1 & $2 coin).
