As Time Goes By

Hi everyone,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. My card today is another I created some years ago using the Spin Art Machine Toy and dye inks. I love how the backgrounds are different everytime.

The imagine used on my card is another from Rubber Romance.

Great Friend

Hi everyone,

My card today is a card I made a few years ago, but have never blogged. The background was created using a Magic Spin Art Toy I purchased using dye inks in place of the ink provided with the machine. Each background is always different.

I used a stamp from Rubber Romance.

You Color My World!

CCEE1410Art1-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand you month, it is time to introduce our challenge hostess for March which is Joanne Grzelak.

Michelangelo’s birthday was March 6, 1475, Let’s honor this wonderful artist with our cards this week. Either have a sentiment that refers to ART in some way or have an image that shows an artistic tool (ex. paintbrush, pen, artist palette). Let’s get our artsy vibes flowing.

For my card today I have created a pop up card using the Lucy Label Pop Up die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

CCEE1410Art-wm

I have recently started reorganising some of my clear stamp sets and unmounted stamp and while I was doing this I discovered my Rubber Romance stamps and as I was organising them this fun Rachel the Artist stamp which I thought would be perfect for my card today.

The sentiment used here is one from The Stamps of Life’s Words4Crayons stamp set … I used the Sizzix/Karen Burniston Banner & Borders Framelits set to layer the sentiment.

CCEE1410Art2-wm

On the inside of my card I used two different art themed stamp sets to stamp all over the base of my card using different colored inks.

I added the sentiment to the two pop up pieces, this is another sentiment from The Stamps of Life’s Words4Crayons stamp set.

Here is another view of the inside of my card this time from the side.

Don’t forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Turn Your Radio On And Listen To The Music!

Turn your radio on and listen to the music ........... I have that song singing in my head now LOL!

This card is for this week's Beate's weekend sketch challenge .... and I am again using some of my neglected stamps today ... this time it is a Rubber Romance stamp. The music you see coming up from the radio is actually part of a Stamp It stamp I own that I masked before inking so I would only get the one line of it .... it seemed just right to accompany this Rubber Romance stamp don't you think!

The sentiment is one I created using my computer ... not sure if that is a radio or just a CD player but it is a radio for this card anyway ... and when I was trying to find a suitable sentiment that song came in my head which I thought would make a perfect sentiment for my card.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Courtney - Rubber Romance; Music In The Air - Stamp It (Aust)
Paper: White; Black; Purely Pomegranate & Bordering Blue - SU; DP - Unknown
Other: Black Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Circle Punches; Scallop Circle Punch; Foam Tape; Copics

    Paige's Christmas & Some News!

Hi everyone hope you are all enjoying your day. First up I have some news I have been wanting to share with you all week.

I have been asked to be September's Guest Designer for Spiral Whisper, this is a stamp company based in the UK and they have lots of fun stamps. They have also just released a whole heap of new stamps if you haven't seen this company before go check it out ... oh and they also have a blog which has some great card ideas too.

I normally like to have a card using the stamps from the company I am talking about when I tell you things like this, but unfortunately my stamps haven't arrived here yet ... they are on their way and I had hoped they would be here by now but not so far :( .... now if I didn't need them in a hurry they probably would be here already, you know how it goes right. Anyway as soon as I receive them I will get busy and stamp up some cards to share with you.

OK now onto my card I have to share with you today .... I did get in the mail today my Rubber Romance stamps that I ordered about 3 weeks ago ... I didn't think they were gonna make it either arghhhhhh ... but they did! So of course I wanted to play with them so I used this fun Paige sitting on Gift which I have been wanting for some time. I love this stamp and it can be used for any time of the year just by using different colors. As you can see with Christmas only a few months away I decided to make mine a Christmas card.

I stamped my image out 3 times .... 2 times on white card and once on the patterned designer paper. I cut out the present only from designer paper omitting the ribbon and attached that to my base image. Then I also cut out the girl from the other white card I had stamped and attached her over the main image using foam tape so she is raised. When I colored her dress I went back with the clear spica pen to give the dress a glittery look to make it more festive. I added a paper pierced corner to the top left corner of this image and "Merry Christmas" to the right side.

The blue panel down the bottom of the card was embossed using my snow dots cuttlebug embossing folder.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Paige on Gift - Rubber Romance; Sentiment - Gina K
Paper: White; Brocade Blue, Kiwi Kiss & Riding Hood Red - SU; DP - Kaiser
Other: Black Ink; Snowdots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Red Grosgrain Ribbon; Paper Piercing Tool & Mat; Spiral Brads; Foam Tape; Clear Spica Pen; Copics

    Engaged!

It is time for another challenge with my fab/sassy friends on SCS. The majority of us in this group own Rubber Romance stamps .... so that was our challenge for this week to create a card using our Rubber Romance stamps. My friend Kim and I challenged ourselves even further by having to use a stamp that we own that we haven't used as yet. There are a couple of members who don't own Rubber Romance stamps as yet, so they were sent some images they could use.

As my daughter's sister in law to be just announced her engagement the other week, I decided to use "Emily is Engaged". I used Papertrey Ink's Pink Pattern DP to paper piece the dress and also for the background for this card. I attached a clear jewel over the engagement ring that is on her finger.

I cut two rectangle using the scallop rectangle nestabilities that were then joined to get the size I needed to layer my main image. The scallops along the bottom of the card were created using a corner punch.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Emily is Engaged - Rubber Romance; Sentiment - Flourishes
Papers: White; Cameo Coral - SU; Spring Moss & Pink Patterns DP - Papertrey Ink
Other: Black Ink; Rectangle Nestabilities; Corner Punch; Hole Punch; Clear Jewel; Pink Ribbon; Pink & Green Flowers; Pink Brad; Foam Tape

    One Martini, Two Martini .....

One martini, two martini, three martini, floor! I am soooooo very excited today as one of my very good friends is this week's featured stamper, Kim Muhl aka nutsymuhl on SCS. Congratulations Kim you so deserve this!!!!!

I decided to CASE two of her cards today and both cards were chosen because I had seen them recently and had admired them and also because I owned the stamps/supplies used to create the particular cards.

Basically this week I did a straight out CASE of Kim's cards but of course I did stick to the rules and made at least 2 changes to each card.

The first cards I decided to CASE of Kim's can be found here. The Changes I made to this card include:
    • changed the soft sky color to river rock (I originally was planning on changing both colors but when I was looking for card to use I discovered the pomegranate piece complete with cuttlebugging to it so of course I decided to use that rather than it being wasted)
    • changed the ribbon
    • added brads to the top right corner of my image layer
    • changed the sentiment (I didn't have the sentiment Kim used so I created my own using my computer.)
    • moved my sentiment over a little as it is shorter than Kim's
    • added the martini olive embellishment to the sentiment.
Recipe: Stamps: Row of Martini Glasses - Rubber Romance
Paper: White; Black; Pomegranate & River Rock - SU
Other: Black Ink; Black Grosgrain Ribbon; Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Black Brads; Martini Olive Embellishment; Foam Tape.

The second card I CASEd of Kim's I chose because it used the rub ons that were available for this years SAB .... Kim had created a one layer card which you can see here.

    Here are my changes:
    • Added layers to my card
    • used a wider ribbon
    • colored the flowers red
Wow .... no stamping, brads or paper piercing were needed to create this card!

    Recipe:
Paper: White; Black; Real Red - SU
Other: Rub Ons - SU; Black Grosgrain Ribbon

Here is another version of the rub on card above ..... this was the original one I started but I was playing around with ribbon and what I had added to it I didn't like so while trying to remove the ribbon I also tore some of the white card a little ... so I put it aside and started again. I decided to see if I could fix it rather than waste those rub ons ... so I attached a piece of black card across the top which hides the torn area and then added the red ribbon. I also changed the sentiment on this one.

    Recipe:
Paper: White; Black; Real Red - SU
Other: Rub Ons - SU; Red Grosgrain Ribbon

    Cooking up Some Birthday Wishes!

A few weeks ago a friend of mine created a card for me as part of a challenge we do among a few friends. The image she used was this cute chef by Rubber Romance ... being a Rubber Romance fan and not having that particular stamp I of course had to do something about it! So when I saw Beate's weekend sketch challenge today I thought it would be perfect for this particular sketch. I did make a small change to the sketch .. the centre strip should be wider than the main image ... but I felt that if I did that it would make my card way bigger than I wanted it to be so made it smaller instead.

It was also a great opportunity to get out a couple of my new cuttlebug embossing folders ... if you haven't seen the new ones yet they are just so fantastic ... you can check them out here. Now that I have purchased the new one I am going to have to think of a new way to store them ... I did have them in a photo album but adding my new ones makes the album way to bulky and it won't close .... I would love to hear how some of you store yours, before I start creating a new system.

Ok back to the card.... the main image was stamped in black onto white card and then I sponged around the edge using old paper distress ink. I used my paper piercing mat & tool to create the piercing along the left edge of the card. I remember I got the sentiment at Christmas which works so well with this image ... I could have stamped it direct onto my main image piece ... but for a little more dimension and interest I decided to stamp it on scrap card and punch it out using my oval punch ... I cut out two additional ovals in ruby red and attached them under my oval.

The pink panel is embossed using the new "swiss dots" cuttlebug embossing folder and the ruby red panel uses the "distressed stripes folder ... after embossing both of these pieces I then used my sponging block to add chocolate chip ink to the raised areas.

I have had this rolling pin button for some time now and I thought it fitted the theme of the card so I also added that .... the string was first colored with a copic marker to help hide the holes of the button.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Chef - Rubber Romance; Sentiment - The Cat's Pajamas
Paper: White; Pretty In Pink; Chocolate Chip & Ruby Red - SU; Chocolate Truffle DP - Doodlebug Designs
Other: Black Ink; Chocolate Chip SU Ink; Old Paper Distress Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Word Window Punch; Oval Punch; Swiss Dot & Distressed Stripe Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Brown Grosgrain Ribbon; Brown Brads; Rolling Pin Button; String; Foam Tape

    Hi Friend!

Hi everyone ... hope you all had a great weekend ... it is Monday here which means it is time for another challenge with my goofy CCEE friends on SCS. This month it was my turn to supply the items for our supply challenge ... so I guess that means I can't complain about anything in the challenge right hehe! Just as well then that I didn't have any problems with it.

Everyone was posted the same items and were instructed to do the following:
    • 2 sheets of double sided DP by Imaginisce (use at least one side of this DP)
    • 3 violet brads (use at least 1 on your card)
    • 1 clear flower (must use on card)
    • 1 ribbon charm (please use)
    • Ribbon - this could be substituted with their own ribbon if they wished
For my card I decided to use a new Rubber Romance image " Ally & Her Dog", that a friend sent to me this week ... I had been trying to get this image for a little while with no luck ... so I was thrilled when I got it in the mail. I was able to make use of both sides of the DP I selected using this layout. I added a couple of additional clear flowers to my flower ... the centre one I colored using alcohol inks and attached it to the top of my card using the brad I had to use. To the top left hand corner I used my paper piercing mat & tool to create a paper pierced corner. I threaded my ribbon onto the ribbon charm and then tied it in a knot to form a bow. The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink ... I thought it fitted this card as it certainly looks to me that Ally & her dog are friends.

    Recipe:
    Stamps:
Ally & Her Dog - Rubber Romance

    Papers:
White; Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive & Morning Glory - SU; Out on the Whim DP - Imaginisce

    Other:
    Black Ink; Old Paper Distress Ink; Clear Flowers; White Grosgrain Ribbon; Violet Brad; Ribbon Charm; Oval Punch; Label Punch;
Eggplant Adirondack Alcohol Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Foam Tape

    Better Than What????

Well I had a tough time getting today's sketch done ... not because the sketch was tough because I don't think it is ... but because it decided to storm just when it was time for me to check if the challenge was up and as it was a pretty fierce storm I figured it safer to wait until it was over before turning my computer on and checking. I finally got to check it out but then the storm came back again and this time kept turning the power on & off so at times I didn't have light ... as soon as I got up to get a torch the lights would come back on so I didn't bother getting it ... but the last time they went off I decided to get one and put it behind me just in case ... so of course the power has stayed on now ... not that I am complaining about that mind hehe!

The girl on this card is from Rubber Romance and the
sentiment used on this card is from the new " twisted sentiment" set that is to be released this Wednesday 6th February by My Favorite Things, this is such a fun and different sentiment set and I am enjoying playing with it! I used my swirl cuttlebug embossing folder to add texture to the violet panel. The ribbon was colored green using my alcohol markers.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Angela on Scooter - Rubber Romance; Sentiment - MFT
Paper: White; Burgundy; Elegant Eggplant - SU; Out on a Whim DP - Imaginisce
Other: Black Ink; Cranberry Crisp SU Ink; D'vine Swirl Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Photo Corner Punch; Black Brads; White Grosgrain Ribbon

    A Chocolate Birthday!

This week I had to create a card suitable for a teenager .... that was the challenge with my fab/sassy friends that I do each week.

It has been a long long time since I had teenagers around the place ... but I do think this card would be suitable ... I hope so anyway. My first thought for this challenge was to use Gina K's phone ... but I also knew a friend was using that so I wanted to go in a different direction. Of course I don't have any teenagers to give this to ... but I think it would do equally well for anyone older ... so I will likely keep it to give to my DD later in the year.

    Playing the VSN Mini Challenges!

Well today is the last of the VSN mini challenges before the big event which will be held 18 - 19 January 2008. As with the previous mini challenges this round there are 4 challenges which you can find in the VSN forum of SCS.

So far I have on managed to complete two of the challenges ... but I do have 2 weeks to complete them in so I might be able to get one or two more done ... we will see.

The first card above is for the sketch challenge, I used a stamp by Rubber Romance ... I think it fits the theme of VSN quite well (Girl's Night Out). I stamped the image on white card using black ink, paper piercing the top corners of the card and layering onto black & red card. The centre panel is black layered on red with brads attached to the top & bottom of the panel. I used basic grey's scarlet letter DP which is layered to black card. A piece of red card is attached to the top section and then the black ribbon layered over the top of this ... Finally this was all layered to the folded red card.

This one is for the Inspiration challenge ... I guess this is the first inspiration challenge I have ever done ... our inspiration was a dress .... I selected colors that looked similar to the dress and tried to achieve a similar pattern. I used the flower and stem from Spiral Bouquet to decorate my cream panel and also the base Blue Bayou card. I cut strips of not quite navy, added the brads and layered these to the top and bottom of the card. Finally I stamped "Enjoy" to a piece of cream card, punched out using my oval punch and attached to the card using foam tape.
Recipe: Sketch Challenge: Stamps: Samantha - Rubber Romance
Papers: Red - Stampin' Up; Black; White; Scarlet Letter DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Red Brads; Black Grosgrain Ribbon; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Foam Tape

    Best Friends!

This card is for this weeks sketch challenge on SCS, this was a nice quick card to create. Looking through my stamps that would take up the majority of the width of a card I came upon this image by Rubber Romance which I thought would work OK for this sketch.

I stamped the image onto white card, colored and sponged the edges of the card with old paper distress ink and layered onto choc chip card. I cut two pieces of the floral DP and layered those also to choc chip card ... attaching pink brads to each end of each panel. The main image was then layered to the centre of the pink card and then the floral panels attached above and below this image.

    Recipe:
    Stamps: Rubber Romance
Paper: Pretty In Pink & Chocolate Chip - Stampin' Up: White; Glitter Stack Pack - DCWV
    Other: Black Ink; Pink Brads

    Shopping ... It's all Black & White!

I am a little later than normal in posting my challenge card I do with a group of friends of SCS then normal, I was about to do it earlier but a friend came by and then I got caught up doing a few other things after she left.

Our challenge this week was inspired by Joanne aka Jojot who does some wonderful black and white cards on SCS, she has to be the master of black & white cards! We were allowed a little extra and that was that we were also allowed to add shades of grey! Well I normally love looking at Black & White cards but am not all that fond of creating them .... for the simple reason that they don't look that great when I make them ...... soooo there may have been a little grumbling about Joanne and her cards in the few weeks prior to this challenge. We even got to chat to her online on SCS recently and begged her not to post any and get her to make us one of her cards ..... not sure if she understood that we wanted them so we could put our names to them LOL! Ok so we aren't really dishonest and this card posted here is actually made by me and not Joanne (jojot), I say we cause I wasn't alone in wanting to have Joanne make one of her black & white cards for our use LOL!

Anyway after some grumbling and muttering .... I finally went to create my card and this is what I came up with. I used Beate's weekend sketch challenge #17 for the layout of this card. I already had the black & white circle DP which I wanted to use so after some thought decided to use one of my rubber romance girls for it .. .I think some of those suit black & white cards very well. I recently discovered some micro brads so used the black micro brads around the edge of the circle .... I now need more as this card used the last of my black ones. The shopping bags I paper pieced using both sides of the DP. All in all I was very happy with the outcome so I am no longer grumbling ;)

    Recipe:
Stamps: Girl - Rubber Romance; Verse - My Favorite Things; Row of dots - Fancy Pants
Paper: White, Black, Grey, Black Tie Optional DP - Imaginisce

    Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #18

Well it has been a fairly busy day today, even though I didn't create my VSN cards today .... it still takes time doing all the other bits and pieces associated with the event. I finally got a change to sit down to create my card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge this afternoon .... but then I had to leave it as we were due at my Sister in Law's for dinner .... as I am home now I can finally upload it!

For todays sketch I went with Tiffany from Rubber Romance ..... I love these stamps ... I don't think I have used this one before. I decided to stamp her using chocolate chip ink as I didn't really want to have a black umbrella ...... I thought brown would make a nice change ... I found this dot paper in with my papers so that helped decide what colors to use to color the raincoat! After stamping out the image I cut it out using my scallop circle punch and layered it to artichoke & choc chip circles cut using the cricut.

I added paper piercing around the edges and corners of the rose red card, and the verse is one I received recently from my VSN secret sis :)

    Recipe:
Stamps: Tiffany - Rubber Romance; Girlfriends Verse - Kolette Hall
Paper: Rose Red; Always Artichoke; Choc Chip - Stampin' Up; White; Joyful Dots DP - All My Memories
Other: Chocolate Chip SU Ink; Pink Brads; Scallop Circle Punch; George Cricut Cartridge; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Brown Grosgrain Ribbon

    Say Charge!

Today's card is for this week's "learn a new technique" challenge on SCS ..... the technique used here is a viewmaster card .... you turn the wheel poking out of the left side of the card and the items in the thought bubble change. This was fun to make but you do need to concentrate when you are stamping your images on your wheel .... mine isn't perfect but it will do. I didn't want my card to be stark white so I have distressed it a little using tea dye distress ink.

You need to attach your wheel to your card using a brad so that the wheel can move around freely, I found these cut micro brads the other day while I was shopping so I decided to use one of those for this card as I thought that would be a little harder to see then a normal sized brad. I needed something in the top right corner of the card so had to use my photo corner punch didn't I ;) ...... I love that punch!

Here is a photo of what I put on my wheel ....... I have a feeling this girl will be doing a lot of spending ;) !

    Recipe:

    Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #14

Well it's the weekend again, so it is time for another of Beate's weekend sketch challenges. For this one I decided to use one of my Rubber Romance stamps ...... I don't think I have used this one before, so I thought it was about time I did.

I stamped the image onto my white card and also on to a piece of my DP and cut out the dress & bag and paper pieced it to the image. The edges of all my card layers have all been distressed using my distressing tool .... so easy! I need a piece of ribbon to match the cranberry crisp card so I colored my white grosgrain ribbon with one of my alcohol markers ...... I am sooo happy with how well it matches! I added some chocolate colored brads to to top section of the card .... boy is this color hard to get ..... I have been looking all over the place lately as I have found I have been wanting to use this color more & more and can I find any in a small size .... no ..... fortunately I have a few that I got somewhere mixed with a few other colors but they are almost gone ....... I shall keep searching!

    Recipe:
Stamps: Girl - Rubber Romance; Verse - Papertrey Ink
Paper: Cranberry Crisp & Chocolate Chip - SU; White; Floral Crochet Pink - Sandylion
Other: Black Ink; Sepia Whispers Ink; Circle Punches; Paper Piercing tool & Mat; Distressing Tool; White Grosgrain Ribbon; Brown Brads

    Born to Shop!

Ok well it is Monday, so it is time for me to post the weekly challenge I do with a group of friends on SCS. The challenge this week was to use Basic Grey Papers with any sketch to create a card.

The sketch I picked for this card is one I found on Stampin Inspirations blog, this site has some fantastic sketches on it. This is the sketch I picked for this card. The Basic Grey paper is one I have been after for ages ever since I saw someone else use it for a card and I was finally able to find it the other week when I went to a scrapbooking store. It is called Recognition and is part of the Scarlet Letter range.

I have done paper piecing for the shopping bags using the same paper as I did for the background and also paper piercing on 3 of the corners of the white card. I also got to use my new photo corner punch on this this morning to finish it off adding the corners to the top left and bottom right panels.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Girl - Rubber Romance; Born to Shop - Stamp It (Aust); Crosshatch B/G - Printblocks (Aust)
Papers: Real Red - SU; White; Black; Recognition Scarlett Letter - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Real Red SU Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Black Brads; Photo Corner Punch

    Bubble Queen!

Here is another card for this weeks sketch challenge on SCS. I didn't do it in girly pinks as I wanted it to also fit into one of the Color challenge combos for this week: Cool Caribbean, Black & White. I don't have my cool caribbean yet, I ordered it today - but this is fairly close to it.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Babs - Rubber Romance; Verse - Stampin' Up
    Paper: Aqua; black & white
Other: aqua grosgrain ribbon; black brads; circle punch; cuttlebug slider die; tiny bubbles cuttlebug embossing folder; black ink

    Tie Dye

Tie Dye is a fun technique and is a slight twist on the wax resist technique. I had done the wax resist a number of years back but have never done the tie dye version of it until now. After seeing some samples on SCS after the March VSN and also Twisted-Chicks samples and tutorial on her site & blog I decided to give it a go. You can find the tutorial here if you are interested.

For my first card that I created (at the top of this post), I used my dye ink pads to create the background; it is a fairly soft and subtle background. Sorry I can't remember what colors I used for any of my samples because I got too busy experimenting to take proper notice of what I was using.

This week on SCS the Ways to use it challenge is markers, now I use markers all the time so really I could pick any card I made for that challenge - but I wanted to go beyond that. So while playing with this tie dye technique I decided to try using my marvy brush markers to create the colors on the card after I had used my iron to get the wax on my card. The friends card and flower card both are created with markers rather than an ink pad.

One of the thinks I like about this tech is how it gives the effect of the sun, great for all those scenic type of stamps but of course not limited to them by any means.

    Recipes for all cards:

    Fishing Kids:
Stamps - Fishing Kids - Ornamentum; Greeting - Impression Obsession
Paper: White Gloss, Black; Certainly Celery & Garden Green - SU
Other: Wax Lunch Wrap; Iron Black Ink

    Friends:
