Before you buy the game just for the memes, I'm here to warn you: This is not a traditional re-release of a classic game.

For starters, Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing still remains the exact same game as before, expect it also offers content from a similar Stellar Stone-developed game, Midnight Race Club: Supercharged!, as well as the leaderboard, and most importantly for the review, achievements.

This version has over 51 achievements to obtain, all of which... do not require to do anything. In other normal games, you gain an achievement after doing what the achievement tells you what to do (in some cases, you unlock it automatically after completing a story mission if one is present). On the other hand, Big Rigs has something unusual (but not in a good way): it features a separate launcher that resembles the Setup Wizard installer that gives you one achievement every time the "installation" is done, and you have to wait for an "installation" 51 times.

What makes this version a pure scam (in contrast to other releases of poorly-received retro games) is the "game" continues to run on Steam, despite turning it off; restarting Steam also does not help; the "game" finally turns off after restarting a computer (at least that's how it worked in my case). "Money back guarantee", as promised in a trailer uploaded by a publisher, meanwhile this becomes impossible if you play it for more than 2 hours, especially if the game still continues to run after supposedly turning it off.

Jokingly giving it positive reviews only allows other dishonest publishers to release similar scams like this.


Edit for Margarite Entertainment: Sorry, but I won't be fooled by this product again. The mere existence of a separate Unreal Engine-based launcher dedicated to achievements raises a lot of suspicion. As I said again, your game could not fully shut down, not even while I turned off and restarted Steam, something what never occurred for me before. Also, if you KNEW this issue would be expected in a specific option of launching the game - then why did you release Big Rigs in this state to begin with?

Pretty good course, especially in comparison to the disastrous Corrupted Forest course. I appreciate the reworked graphics and the new background music, but... At this time I can't recommend you this DLC. It's horrendously overpriced, especially when we compare the price of the previous DLC, Bouncy Castle, which, like this one, also contains 18 holes, but not only that map was much cheaper, but it also contained additional cosmetics that we could customize for our own ball. For $9, we only get a new course, while the cosmetics are sold in a form of the another overpriced DLC, the Fairytale Fables Pack, that was released the same day. Also, a small but another scummy thing I would like to mention is about the achievements that are blocked behind the paywalls, which is such an unfair practice that will prevent you from completing all of the achievements, unless you pay money to publishers.

Better wait for sale and if you want to play the map with a couple of friends, don't try to convince them to buy it, because by playing online thanks to the host who bought the DLC, you have the opportunity to play this course without spending any money, just like for the other DLC courses.

I will change it to a positive rating if Team17 considers decreasing the price to $3, but considering that the company has been using such practices for years and the price usually remains the same as at launch, I personally doubt that such a change will come.
