We're all given two endpoints.
We're each given one birth, and we're each given one death.
And the path we take between that source and sink, between that start and end, is all driven by us.
It's not driven by the school that you got into. It's not driven by someone giving you grades. It's driven by you.
As history shows and research shows, your success in business and what you're capable of doing, has very little to do with where you went to college and it has everything to do with how you applied yourself and what you do.
Well, I've given this a lot of thought, and I've decided after much thinking and many years, that I was wrong.
I don't think I have it right. In fact, I would agree with you that we have one birth. But I suggest to you the following.
I suggest that we actually have two deaths. Certainly, we have one death when our body dies and we all have that commonality between us.
But I suggest to you that there is a second time. And the second time is when people no longer remember who you are and who you were.
As long as people remember who you are and who you were, and the impact you had on them, you go on living.
You may not be physically here, but their remembering of value you brought to their lives, their remembering what you did for them.
How you taught them, how you helped them in a job. Whatever it is, if they remember you, and they carry it forward.
You're still alive.
