REANIMAL is a horror-adventure experience that follows a brother and sister navigating a surreal, flooded island in a desperate attempt to rescue their friends and escape the place they once called home. From the very first reveal, I knew this game was going to be special.

As a huge lover of the Little Nightmares series, I’ve been craving something that captures that same eerie magic—and REANIMAL delivers exactly that, and more. It feels like a natural evolution of that formula, almost like an enhanced version of Little Nightmares, but with its own identity and improvements. And in all honesty, this game is shaping up to be a MASTERPIECE and truly one of a kind.

Let’s start with the opening. The beginning of the game is absolutely incredible. Sitting in a small boat, surrounded by thick fog in the middle of nowhere… it gave me chills instantly. That moment alone sets the tone perfectly—mysterious, quiet, and deeply unsettling. It’s the kind of opening that pulls you in without saying a word.
Speaking of boats, one of the most interesting additions is the ability to drive vehicles, something we never had in Little Nightmares. It may seem like a small feature, but it adds a new layer to exploration and immersion. Traveling through foggy waters with limited visibility is both calming and terrifying at the same time.

The gameplay mechanics are simply AWESOME. Movement is smooth, jumping feels responsive, and overall control is polished with no noticeable issues. Everything works exactly as it should, which is crucial for a game that relies heavily on timing and environmental interaction.

One of the standout aspects for me is the companion character—the sister. Unlike previous games in this genre, she is not just a passive presence. She’s cute, expressive, and incredibly well-designed. Her AI is impressive—she behaves naturally, helps when needed, and never feels like a burden. In fact, she adds emotional depth to the experience.
Her light source is also very helpful in dark environments, although I have to mention that the main character’s light feels a bit weak—it barely illuminates a meter ahead. I really hope this gets slightly improved, as a wider light radius would enhance visibility without ruining the atmosphere. Small details like the way she uses tools—like putting her full body weight into a bolt cutter—are incredibly immersive. These moments show the level of care put into animations and interactions.

The game also introduces new interactive elements, which are a great addition:
- Driving cars, boats and even tanks with the ability to shoot arrows while on the boat and shooting projectiles from the tank
- Opening chests and containers
- Sitting on chairs or sofas
- Interacting with small environmental objects like playground slides or bicycle bells
- Simple fighting mechanics

These details might seem minor, but they make the world feel more alive and interactive.

And I have to mention the humor—there’s even an achievement for traveling 10,000 meters by boat, which I found hilarious. Honestly, I might replay the game just to wander endlessly in the fog to unlock it.

The camera system is another highlight. The transitions between angles, especially around corners, are smooth and cinematic. It’s something that often goes unnoticed in other games, but here it’s executed perfectly and deserves recognition.

Now… the environment design. Where do I even begin?

This is easily one of the most beautifully crafted horror environments I’ve ever seen. It’s creepy, atmospheric, and absolutely stunning. The fog, the abandoned structures, the lighting, the dust particles, the reflections, the vegetation—everything works together in perfect harmony. It feels alive, yet dead at the same time.
Aaaahhh, what an unforgettable part of the game. Suddenly, you find yourself in the middle of a chaotic battlefield, surrounded by soldiers—some injured, some still fighting—yet all of them trying to kill you with rifles and grenades. The shift in atmosphere is shocking in the best way possible. It’s intense, unpredictable, and incredibly immersive.
That sniper at the clock tower… what a brilliantly designed sequence. The tension of moving from cover to cover, trying to avoid his precise shots, creates one of the most nerve-wracking moments in the entire game. I won’t spoil how it ends—but trust me, the way you deal with him is something you need to experience yourself.

And then comes the tank section—something I never expected in a game like this. Driving the tank feels powerful and completely changes the pace of gameplay. It’s not just a gimmick; it’s a fully immersive sequence that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a war game for a moment. The weight, the sound design, the destruction—it all comes together perfectly to deliver a thrilling and memorable experience.
And the sound design? Simply perfect.
Every sound— movement, jumping, housewares objects, wind, rain, footsteps, objects dragging, glass breaking—fits seamlessly into the world. It’s not just background noise; it’s part of the experience. Add to that the soothing yet haunting music, and you get an atmosphere that is both relaxing and deeply unsettling.

Now let’s talk about the enemies—because they deserve serious praise.
The creature design is outstanding. Each enemy feels unique, disturbing, and memorable. Characters like The Sniffer, The Mother, and The Sheep Beast are brilliantly crafted—not just visually, but conceptually. They aren’t generic monsters; they feel like twisted parts of the world itself. Their movements, sounds, and presence create a constant sense of tension. You don’t just avoid them—you fear them. Every encounter feels meaningful, and their designs stick with you long after you stop playing. They perfectly balance horror and creativity, making them some of the most memorable enemies in recent horror games.

Finally, let’s talk about value. The price of the game is more than fair considering the level of quality, detail, and experience it offers. Personally, I bought it after a discount, which made it even more satisfying—but honestly, this game is worth every penny, even at full price. And if future content is added, I wouldn’t hesitate at all to pay more.
