Need more Pearls to buy that awesome gun from Raggs' shop? Want some more costumes for Adventure or Playground modes? Or just saving up a ton of cash for stuff like the Nuclear Broccoli Test? You could replay old levels repeatedly for the money...or you could take the efficient way forward!



All you need to make this guide work is to reach the Lunar Base level. This is a pretty late-game segment, coming about midway through Chapter 9. It helps to have the Jump Pack gadget, since it speeds up the exploration process. You could also take a damaging gadget like the Bubble Bracer or the Water Balloons, since they're good at breaking open crates, but that's optional.

You're going to be looking for the large crates with the Corporation logo in the middle. They have black frames and grey surfaces. They can blend in pretty easily with the other props if you aren't looking for them, so keep an eye out.



They can also be found in the rocket base in the Valley of Kings level, but they're more widespread in the Lunar Base, so it's easier to stick with that area.



What makes them so important? They're tougher than most crates and require multiple high-damage shots to bring down, but they're full of valuable resources. Health, ammo, and hourglasses are common drops from breaking them. The exact amount can vary, but they can also contain a ton of Pearls. A simple run-through of Lunar Base can net you plenty of Pearls if you look in the right places!



They aren't broken with a single hit, which is why they're easy to miss at first. They also explode when broken, so be careful when destroying them! The best ways to break them are...

• 2 charged shots from the Hair Dryer.
  
• 1 hit from enough Bubble Bracer projectiles.
  
• 2 direct hits from the Water Balloons.
  
• 2 Bazooka shots.
  
• 2 Marauder's Boomstick primary fire shots.
  
• 3 Trench Broomstick shots.

You can still break it with repeated shots from other guns, but it's less efficient when it comes to ammo or time taken.

There are a few pairs of the crates in the lobby of the Lunar Base (along with a couple of hidden treasure chests).



The paths between bases contain some crates hidden among the non-breakable props.



A large platform around the center of the open-air Moon section has a few crates out in the open. Beneath it is a hidden side entrance containing almost a dozen of the crates. I have it marked on the map here.

There's another platform between two of the base entrances that has multiple crates waiting to be broken. It is south of the initial lobby area once you step through the airlock.

Aside from the crates on Lunar Base, there are a couple of other places rich with loot to break open!



Celestial Forge has its own red boxes loaded with Pearls. They can be broken with a single hit, and they stand out with how bright and vibrant they are. It's worth visiting it for the amount of Pearls the enemies and boxes give!



Marshmalott also has a surprising amount of Pearls in its ornate vases. They don't stand out as much as the other examples, but they still can give you a lot of money! Coupled with taking down enemies, you can walk away from both areas loaded with enough Pearls for that 500kg Canary you always wanted.

There are probably trainers or other cheat engine scripts out there that you could use to get Pearls quickly, but what's the fun in that? It's a lot more satisfying when you earn the Pearls instead of cheating them into existence.
