DBD Ultimate Beginner to Pro Guide
1. Essential Survivor Guide: How to Survive

As a Survivor, your only real resource is Time. Every second you waste hiding in a locker or crouching in a corner brings the Killer closer to winning.

• Master the "Looping" Technique: Do not drop pallets instantly when the Killer is behind you. Loop around the high walls (like the Killer Shack or L-T walls) to waste as much of the Killer's time as possible.
• Keep an Eye on the Killer: Practice running forward while looking behind you. You must watch the Killer's movements to predict if they are going to double-back or respect the pallet.
• Avoid the 3-Gen Trap: Never fix three generators that are right next to each other at the end of the match. Always split up the map and finish the middle or closely connected generators early on.
• Do Gens When Someone is Chased: If the UI shows a teammate is actively being chased, do not hide. Sit on a generator immediately.

2. Essential Killer Guide: How to Dominate

Being a good Killer requires high map pressure and knowing when to let a Survivor go.

• Drop Wasted Chases: If you cannot catch or hit a Survivor within 45-60 seconds, drop the chase. They are likely trying to bait you while their teammates are repairing all the generators.
• Learn Mindgames (Hide Your Red Stain): Survivors track you by looking at the red light glowing in front of you (Red Stain). Hide it by walking backward around corners or pretending to go one way and quickly switching directions.
• Map Pressure & Hook Rotations: Do not stand directly in front of the hook (Facecamping) unless the gates are open. Hook a Survivor, kick a nearby generator, and pressure the next target to keep everyone off the gens.

3. General Golden Rules for Both Sides

1. Audio is Everything: DBD is heavily sound-based. Use high-quality headphones. Listen for injured grunts, rustling grass, generator repair sparks, and breathing sounds.
2. Play Both Sides: To become a great Survivor, you need to play Killer to understand their field of view (FOV) and limitations. To become a great Killer, you must play Survivor to learn their pathing habits.
3. Unlock Meta Perks: Focus on unlocking teachable perks that delay generators (for Killers) or give exhaustion speed bursts (like Lithe or Background Player for Survivors).
