“Like Nadja gone post-rock or Big | Brave viewed through an obsidian prism, Volaverunt is a tantalising experience - mysterious, arcane and possessing hidden depths.” Metal Hammer (UK)
"A new kind of doom - dark, delicious, and full of dynamics - instantly reminding me of that Godspeed You! Black Emperor vibe, the sounds of which intersect very well with the ambient and drone scenes.” Headphone Commute (UK)

In 2019, Bank Myna decides to take advantage of its new trio configuration to explore its most drone facet and experiment with sounds. Deeply inspired by GY!BE, Anna Von Hausswolff, Big Brave, or even Swans, the band completes its instrumentation with a violin and experimental devices (clock bells, noise boxes ...) in order to give new sounds and atmosphere to its long improvised ambient tracks. This work results in an organized chaos where daydreaming and distorted sounds alternate, laying the foundations for VOLAVERUNT, a monochrome album, composed in one go and based on a single soundtrack.
During the composition of the album, the band discovers a strange aesthetic resonance with several Goya’s engravings and their mystical and tormented symbolism. Volaverunt ("They flew away"), a free figure of magnetic and bitter beauty, is gradually establishing itself as the album title. The five tracks offer slow and contemplative movements from which cathartic flights spout out, carried by rhythm patterns verging on ritualism. Recording and mixing (to come) are carried out by Mathieu Gaud who worked with Electrical Audio (Chicago) and Mikrokosm (Lyon) studios. The mastering will be entrusted to Harris Newman (Gray Market Mastering, Montreal) whose achievements in this register speak for himself (Big | Brave, GY! BE, Oiseaux-Tempête and many others).
