Modern Art – Stereoland (Remastered Edition)
Lost in time: a psychedelic indie gem from the underground 80s.
Originally recorded in 1986 and released in 1987, Stereoland was the first vinyl album from Modern Art, following a string of cult cassette-only releases that built a loyal underground following across Germany, Scandinavia, and beyond.

Limited to just 250 hand-stencilled copies with red and green fluorescent paint — Stereoland captured Modern Art at a creative crossroads: ditching synthesizers in favor of raw, swirling guitars and hypnotic rhythms. Fuzzy, jangling, and phasing textures collide with dreamlike distortion, blending psychedelic indie rock with echoes of The Cure, Killing Joke, and The Smiths.

Recorded on a Fostex 4-track and mastered onto Revox, Stereoland remains a lost indie proto lo-fi classic — and a vital pre-history of Sun Dial, one of the leading lights of modern British psychedelia.

This new remastered edition, taken directly from the original analogue tapes, includes two bonus tracks:

“Cutting Water” – a previously unreleased version from the Stereoland sessions.
“Red Tornado (Remix)” – an alternate version offering a fresh take on one of the album’s standout tracks.
