The UPR lets civil society say what governments won't. I went to the UN in Geneva with advocates from a repro-human rights coalition, who work with communities across the South, and have documented rights violations of freedom of movement, abortion access, and pregnancy criminalization. The U.S. does not want to be accountable! By withdrawing from the UPR in 2025, the government announced that its own compliance with human rights is conditional on nothing but its mood.
