Heavy Metal!

Being the literal person that I am, I decided to interpret this week's theme for just what it is...metal.  I used gold and silver foil papers from CTMH as the foundation of this masculine card.

Sketch inspiration from Mojo Monday (how I miss that challenge)

Also used were Peacock, Black and White Daisy cardstock and patterned paper from my stash.  I cut the gears from files on the CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge. The embossing was done with a folder borrowed from a friend.  The sentiment was from the Holiday Tags stamp set--long retired.

Planning this card took the most time.  Because it is hard to come up with masculine ideas and because I tend to be last minute, I went ahead and cut extra gears and embossed extra backgrounds.  Now it will be fast and easy to duplicate this card when I am faced with a "I need a card right now" moment!

I hope you are inspired to create your "metal" card.  Maybe you will do as I did or maybe you are a child of the 80's-90's and will be inspired to create with guitars and music notes. For even more inspiration, be sure to visit Heart 2 heart Challenges Heavy Metal. The beauty of all this is there is no wrong or right...just create and enjoy what you have done.

Talk with you soon--

Eggplant, Canary and Slate

I love when I find inspiration in two different challenges.  I was again able to create a card that meets the requirments for Mojo Monday and the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenges.  I love the fun sketch and colors. I really think this card has a masculine feel and would work well for the men in your lives.

The products used are all from Close to My Heart.  The Canary patterned paper is from the Whimsy packet.  Cardstock used was Canary, Eggplant, Slate and White Daisy.  The sentiment was stamped with a stamp from the Birthday Sparkles Set (B1537) and Slate Ink. The stars were cut with the Stars Thin Cuts (Z3261). The sequins are from the retired Magical Sequin Set.

Colors of the Sea

I thought of the sea when I saw this week's Color Dare Challenge and what says "the sea" like seashells?  It was fun using the Mojo Monday sketch and the stamps from Swirly Seashells C1664.  While there are Thin Cuts that coordinate with this stamp set, I chose to just fussy cut around them. (Truth is I was too lazy to get up and go to the other side of the room to use my die cutter!)  For these two shapes, cutting was easy...for more detailed shapes, the Thin Cuts are the way to go.

All products used are Close to My Heart. The circle and scalloped circle were cut on the Cricut. I planned on using black Shimmer Trim to satisfy the black requirement, but it just didn't look right and I used the white instead.  Much better!  I found some black Bitty Sparkles in my stash and they added just the right amount of black.  The clear Shimmer Pen was used to accent the shells.

This is a great sketch and color combination!  For more inspiration, please visit:

Hello Lovely!

I have once again created a card that I am submitting to several challenges.  I have used the Hello Lovely paper packet from Close to My Heart with a sketch from Mojo Monday to create this sympathy card.

In addition to the Hello Lovely paper, I added Desert Sand and Colonial White cardstock.  The banner was shaded with Bamboo ink.  The sentiment is from the stamp set that comes with the Workshop Your Way Here for You kit and is stamped with New England Ivy. The flower was cut from White Glitter paper with the Artistry Cricut cartridge from CTMH.  The leaves were cut from Fern and New England Ivy cardstock, also with the Artistry cartridge. The bling and the gorgeous Blush ribbon are also from CTMH.

Mojo Monday Meets Color Dare

Hi!  Today I was able to create a card that meets the requirements for both the Mojo Monday and the Color Dare Challenges.  Look at how great Saffron, Pixie and Whisper look together...who would have thought?

The patterned papers are from the Dreamin' Big Paper Packet (X7218B).  The stamp is from Delight in Everything, unfortunately a really old, old set.  I was glancing through Wishes, a card idea book from Close to My Heart and noticed how they used the stamp.  I think it is perfect on this card...don't you?

Mojo Monday meets City Sidewalks!

Here is the promised card for the Mojo Monday challenge.  I really do appreciate the inspiration I get from these projects.  Again I used the City Sidewalks paper packet.  The stamp set used is Very Merry D1694.  Nothing special going on with this card...just some patterned paper, a little stamping and a little bling...just my style!

Calypso One More Time

Calypso is one of the paper packets in the Seasonal Expressions 2 catalog that will be retiring on August 31st.  It is such a fun paper set...full of designs to celebrate all your summer events.  I used it here to create a card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  As I have mentioned before, participating in challenges has been an incentive to create with designs that I would never come up with.  The stamp sets are retired Close to My Heart products, but any shape or image can be used in place of the flower.

Close to My heart Products used:
Calypso Paper Packet X7210B
Black Cardstock 1386
White Daisy Cardstock 1385
Poppy Exclusive Ink Z2852
Pear Exclusive Ink (retired)

White Shimmer Trim Z3024
Silver Assortment Sequins Z2013

Out of My Comfort Zone!

You probably heard my moans and groans this morning as I was looking at this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  Now I am entirely linear in my layout style.  I mean a ruler is my best friend as I attempt to straighten something that is a 32nd of an inch off square.  So imagine my angst when I saw the large rectangle element sitting at an angle!  Agh!

However, I have vowed to work with some online sketches even if I have to take those dreaded steps out of my comfort zone...so here is my project for this week.

I used two of the Picture my Life cards included in the Florence paper packet (X7208B).  These cards, intended for use in pocket scrapbooking projects, also work wonderfully on cards like this one or journaling blocks in your normal scrapbooking. The large embellishment was cut with the Ornate Blossom Thin Cut ((Z3227) and stamped with an image from the Ornate Blossoms stamp set (D1687).

Other Close to My Heart products used include:
White Daisy cardstock (1385)
Shinhan markers (Carmine, Peacock Green and Marigold--although I think I should have used Golden Yellow)
Say it All stamp set (C1632).  This is a hostess only set available until July 31st.
Florence Sequins (Z3213)
Momento Black Ink

Just for fun, here is another card I made with the stamp set.  Reminds me of the coloring books popular right now.

Once Again---Missing in Action

A three-way Messenger conversation with my friends and CTMH co-consultants, Lori and Pam, inspired me to come back to blogging. I am not sure why I keep straying away, but once again here I am with good intentions.  For one thing, I have discovered Mojo Monday, a site that offers card sketches each Monday and invites participation by linking one's blog.  Well, I like that idea! With that kind of inspiration and schedule, I just might be able to do this!

So here is my first offering for the Mojo Monday Challenge:

Close to my Heart products used on this project include:
White Daisy Cardstock 1388
Black Cardstock 1386
Lagoon and Cranberry papers from the Adventure Fundamentals Pack Z3125
Honey and white polka dot from Magical Paper Packet X7209B
Beyond Awesome Stamp Set C1644
Magical Sequins Z3214
Thin 3-D Tape Z2060
Cranberry Ink Pad Z2116
Momento Black Ink

I hope you are also inspired to create something awesome with this sketch!
