Create docs, apps & more with Canvas

• To open and edit the code, at the top right of the Canvas panel, click Code. You can edit the code directly in the Code view.
• To find errors and logs from the preview, at the top right of the Canvas panel, click Show console .
• To find recent changes in the code, at the top right of the Canvas panel, click Code  Show recent changes .

1. Open the chat with the app you want to edit.
2. At the bottom right of the Canvas panel, click Select & ask .
3. Use the cursor to select the section that you want to edit.
4. In the text box, enter a prompt for how you want the text to be updated.
5. Press Enter.

Important: To add AI to your app, you must be signed in to Gemini Apps and be 18 or over.

You can add Gemini-powered features to your app, like text and image generation.

1. Open the chat with the app you want to edit.
2. At the bottom right of the Canvas panel, click Add Gemini features .
3. In the chat on the left, Gemini will provide an overview of what AI feature was added to the app. You can respond in the text box and ask Gemini to make additional changes.

2. In the Canvas panel, use the cursor to select the text that you want to edit.
3. In the text box, enter a prompt for what you want updated.
4. Press Enter.

Tip:  Once you select the text you want to edit, you can also click Suggest edits  to have Gemini recommend changes.

2. In the Canvas panel on the right, choose how you want to change it:
   • To adjust the length of text: Click Change length  and select your desired length.
   • To adjust the tone of text: Click Change tone  and select how casual or formal you want it to be.

1. Open the chat you want to edit.
2. In the Canvas panel, use the cursor to select the text that you want to edit.
3. At the top, use the toolbar to edit your text. You can:
   • Stylize headings
   • Bold text .
   • Italicize text .
   • Create bulleted lists .
   • Create numbered lists .

Tips: 

• If you can’t find the full toolbar, click More .
• To view your saved versions, at the top, click Previous Version  or Next Version .

LaTeX is a document preparation system widely used in academic, scientific, and technical fields to create high-quality documents with complex formatting, such as mathematical equations, tables, and multi-column layouts.

1. To add LaTeX to any doc in Canvas:
2. Open the chat with the doc you want to edit.
3. At the top right of the Canvas panel, click Create.
4. To select LaTeX, click LaTeX .
5. Click on the formula within Canvas

Exporting or sharing docs including LaTeX
You can export a doc that includes LaTeX as a PDF with the ability to preview before you download it. 

You can also copy any Gemini response that includes LaTeX and it will include the unrendered LaTeX code.  
 

1. Open the chat with the doc you want to share.
2. At the top right of the Canvas panel, click Share & export   Share .
3. If you are sharing an app, review the app info.
4. Choose how you want to share:
   • To share the link: At the top, next to the g.co/gemini/share link, click Copy link . Then paste it where you want to share, like in a messaging app, an email draft, or a forum thread.
   • To share on an available social platform: At the bottom, click the social platform and follow the on-screen instructions.

Review app info

When you create a shareable public link for your app, you’ll be able to review info about your app. Anyone with that public link can view and edit data associated with the app. You can ask Gemini to make changes and Gemini will apply updates to your app’s code. 

• Share data between users. 
• Use Gemini-powered features. For example, if you want your app to use AI to generate text and images.
• Save data across sessions and devices. For example, if you create an app to track something over time.

1. On your computer, open the chat with the Canvas content or app you want to copy or export.
2. At the top right of the Canvas panel, click Share & export  .
3. Choose if you want to export or copy the content:
   • To open text in a new Google Doc: Click Export to Docs. 
   • To open slides in Google Slides: Click Export to Slides. You can also choose to export slides as a PDF.
   • To copy the text: Click Copy contents .

1. ​​​​​​Open the chat with the app you want to copy or export.
2. At the top of the Canvas panel, click More .
3. Choose what you want to do:
   • To copy the code: Click Copy code .
   • To open Python code in Colab: Click Export to Colab.
