Use Gemini Live on Android XR

On Android XR devices, you can chat naturally with Gemini Live as your personal AI companion. You can do things like: 

• Ask questions for a deeper understanding of what’s in your view.
• Collaborate with Gemini across apps and windows on your screen.

Availability

You can use Gemini Live on the Android XR platform: 

• Where the Gemini mobile app is available
• With a signed-in Google Account that you manage on your own

Chat with Gemini Live on your Android XR device

When you chat with Gemini on your Android XR device, you can explore more deeply. For example, you can ask Gemini questions about a complex video on YouTube, get help planning a trip while exploring the immersive view in Maps, or compare info across tabs in Chrome. 

To chat with Gemini, on your Android XR Home screen, open Gemini  or say “Hey Google,” then ask a question to start a chat. You can also press and hold the top button on your Android XR device.

Note: When you start Gemini for the first time, follow the instructions to get started.

Chat live with Gemini

Gemini Live lets you have a natural back-and-forth conversation about the apps and windows on your screen. 

To chat live with Gemini: 

1. On your Android XR device’s Home screen, select Gemini .
   • You can also go Live by saying “Hey Google” or by pressing and holding the top button.
2. For your first time, follow any on-screen instructions.
3. Start talking.

Share your view with Gemini Live

You can share your device’s view to get help from Gemini Live. When you choose to share your view, your full view is shared. If your virtual environment is off and view sharing is on, Gemini can access your space. Be careful with personal content like passwords, payment details, or medications, and ask for people’s permission before including them in your view. 

To share your view with Gemini Live: 

1. On your Android XR device, open the Gemini mobile app .
2. Select Turn on view sharing .
   • When you’re sharing your view, to stop sharing, select view sharing  again.
3. Follow the on screen instructions. 

You can also turn view sharing off in Gemini settings on your Android XR device. In Gemini settings, turn Enable view sharing in Live off . When Enable view sharing in Live is off, if you turn it on in Settings or select view sharing , you will be asked to consent again before you can share your view.
