Trim video & audio transcripts in Google Vids

To trim speech-based videos or audio in Vids, you can edit the text transcript. To create a polished media clip, you can remove highlighted silences and filler words.

Learn how to trim transcripts

To remove filler words and long pauses from video clips or audio tracks by editing the transcript:

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
2. Select a video.
   • Or, click Start a new video .
3. Click on a video clip or audio track that contains speech in English Transcript .
   • The transcript displays in a side panel on the right.
   • If the transcript isn’t ready, a “Generating transcript” message shows.
4. In the transcript, select a word or silence that you want to remove.
5. Click Remove .
   • You can remove the selected pause or filler word, or remove all pauses or filler words.
   • When you play back your media, that word or silence is removed.

Tips:

• Filler words, like "uh," show in red and are underlined.
• Silences display in parentheses, with ellipses and their duration.
  • Example: (...3s)

• To restore deleted words or silences, you can select the removed term Restore .
• If you select a word in the transcript, the video playhead moves to that point in the clip.

After the transcript trim is complete, a “How would you rate this transcript edit?” message shows.

1. Select Good transcript edit or Bad transcript edit .
2. If you click Bad transcript edit :
   1. Select the issue you found.
   2. Enter additional feedback.
3. Click Submit.

1. In your menu bar, click Help Help Vids improve.
2. Describe your issue or suggestions.
3. To help identify the issue, select Capture screenshot.
4. Click Send.
