Santorc's nemesis

Orcmas just would not be orcmas without some uppity git trying to usurp the coveted title of "Santorc" (or whatever other clever name you can concoct.  The position has long been coveted by this sneaky gobbo.  Time and again he has been thwarted by bad luck, stupidity, or the business end of Santorc's bell.  Regardless, this rascal has managed (miraculously) to survive as a constant thorn in Santorc's side.

I present to you, Gobbo Clawz!

This cheeky fellow is the 2007 White Dwarf subscription model Night Goblin Boss.  I took the liberty of sculpting some more fur trim on his cloak, as well as adding pom poms to his hat.  I think they look swell.  Being smaller and simpler than the other figures, he painted up pretty quickly.  Now he just needs some minions, as he is somewhat outgunned at the moment, wouldn't you agree?

Yet more Samurai Goblins

Another batch of the magnificent Bob Olley's samurai goblins!  I finished these a while ago, but it took me a while to get the camera out for some pictures.  I have taken a bit of a break from the samurai scheme to focus on some more Mordheim rats, which I will post later.

But first, onto the gobbos!

Once again, loads of fun to paint.  These figures might be over 15 years old, but they still look great.

More Samurai Goblins

Another quick post to share some more finished samurai goblins.  Here we have a warmonger and a base of goblins.  Again, very fun to paint up, and to experiment with some different skintones.  I have two more that are a WIP, hopefully to be finished this week, and then I will leave the samurai goblins for a while to work on some other projects.

Hope you like them.  I will try and give them some nice basing in the future as well.

Clan War Samurai Goblin

I thought you might like something a bit different today.  This week I painted up some goblins.  These were originally made by AEG for their game Clan War, back in the 90s.  They were part of the Shadowland Horde faction.  The miniatures game is now defunct (but I think there's still some sort of RPG), but the range has been picked up by Valiant Enterprises.  Valiant is kinda pricey, and I was able to source some of the original AEG goblins through various second-hand means.  Regardless, I think the sculpts are stellar.  They were made by Bob Olley and really demonstrate the character of clumsy, clamoring goblins.  They were originally designed to be on 25mm bases, as this one is currently sitting, but I will be doing some group bases putting two double-based figures on a 40mm square base so that the goblins will effectively be 1 per 20mm square.

I hope you like it.  I need to paint another dozen or so to make a unit of 25-30ish goblins.  This is my first (of hopefully several) forays into samurai-themed painting.  I also experimented with the skin tones a bit as well.  The goblin on the bottom was given a yellow skin, which was washed heavily with some greens and browns.  The top goblin was given Foundry's Moss triad, number 29, washed with some greens and browns.
