Ice Cream and Pickles

>> Saturday, November 17, 2012

Hi Blogging friends,

Another quick post here today for Mad for Markers using this Saturated Canary image available in Sammi's store here.

I went for a monotone card today using mainly Ys and YRs for the current challenge here.

Copics:
Ys: Y08, Y06, Y02, Y00
YRs: YR07, YR04, YR02, YR00

My cards are getting so much simpler now... I am not as big on embellishing as I used to be.  It could be to do with my de-cluttering of my craft room.  It is rather a slow process, but the more I get rid of, the more I want to get rid of and try to keep everything clean and neat.  I am so not naturally a neat person.  I have to work really hard at it.  Or, it could be to do with the fact that I dont like the embellishments I put on a card as much anymore...not too sure, are the trends changing?? Is washi tape replacing flowers?  I havent bought any washi tape yet, but I do want some!!

Anyway, to leave you on this rainy Saturday afternoon with a picture of our gorgeous boy helping himself to some Copics.  He LOVES them!!!

Thanks for stopping by,

New Release - Swing Digi

>> Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

Here is a journal page I made using one of the new As the Crow Flies Digis - Swing.  You can get this digi here.  I used yellow Copics for her dress...but shame on me I didn't record the colours!!  I think it was because I made such a big mess making this page!!!  But it was lots of fun.
Have you entered our November challenge yet to use Y and YR markers?
I look forward to seeing what you create!

Have a sunshiney day,

Fairy Journal Page using Multi-Liner

>> Saturday, October 20, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

I have a journal page to share today for the M4M Multiliner Madness challenge.
I have used one of Sammi's digis.  Her name is Charlotte Rose and you can buy her here.
I added some lines on here as part of the Multi-Liner challenge...on her stockings, spots on the mushroom and lines on the stem of the mushroom.  I had all intentions of giving her stripy stockings when I accidentally coloured all the stripes red.  Never mind.

These are the Copics I used:
Skin: E21, E11, R20
Hair: E49, E47, E29 E37, E15, E13
Reds: R29, R46, R85
Purples:V17, V15, V12
Yellows: Y06, Y08, Y02
Other: Black100, W-1

First I used Gesso on the background of the page, then purple and gold acrylic paint.  Then I pasted bits and pieces from my Kaisercraft "Made with Love Collection" paper pad.  Then I added the fairy, ribbons, swirls, pearls and stickers.  I used a gold gel-pen and a white gel-pen to doodle around bits and pieces all over the page.  Finally I journalled using my Multi-Liner.

I really enjoyed making this page.  I love art-journalling as a way of expressing feelings and it is really fun to get out the paints and get a bit messy.  (I will not show you the state of my desk now lol!)  I love how you can get a bit untidy...and just enjoy the art process.

I have Ribbon candy on my blog.  Why not pop on over here and enter, or just say hello!

Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday...

Saturated Canary with Multiliner

>> Saturday, October 13, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

It is my turn to share some inspiration for the current Mad for Markers' Challenge: Multi Liner Madness.  I coloured a new Saturated Canary Image that Sammi has in store here.  It is called Ice Cream and Pickles.  She is so cute!

I used my Multi-Liner for adding criss-crosses on the ice cream cone and for tracing the cream on the layers between the ice-cream (as I didnt do a great job with the stamping of the image, which is so me, I can never stamp that well).  I dont know if it is supposed to be cream, but I decided it would be on this card!  I also used my Multi-Liner drawing a little border around the card in three places.  One good thing about a Multi-Liner is that it doesnt smudge when you use your Copics over the top.

The papers I used are Amy Tangerine Sketchbook and the Copics I coloured with are:

Pink: RV09, RV06, RV04, RV02
Aqua: BG49, BG15, BG23, BG10
Yellow: Y08, Y06, Y02
Orange: YR07, YR04, YR02
Green: YG67, YG63
Hair: 100, C9, C7
Skin: E21, E11, R20

Here is a close-up of the colouring...

I am clearing out some stamps on my blog so if you are keen on a bargain check them out here.  A few sets have sold, but there is still plenty more left.

Cant wait to see what you create for this challenge.

Happy Colouring,

Alicia xx

A Multi-Liner Journal Page

>> Saturday, October 6, 2012

Hi Blogging Friends,

At Mad for Markers this month it is "Multiliner Madness".  That means to enter the challenge you need to use your Multi Liner in some way on your creation.  I chose to make a journal page.  I started with a piece of water colour paper and used a crayon to draw the flowers and border.  Then I painted over the top with pink water colour paint.  The crayon resisted the paint and showed through.  Then I used my 0.5mm Multi Liner and a thicker Sharpie texta to journal and doodle all over the page.  Then I matted the page on black card and pasted into my journal.  The thing I love about Art Journalling is that it is the process not the product that is important.  Art Journalling is all about having fun and going with the flow, getting out your thoughts and experimenting with colour, texture, lines etc.  Different to a card, that you hope will look "good" at the end, especially if you are making it to give to someone.  Art Journalling can be freeing, because it is just for yourself and no one has to see it if you dont feel like sharing.  I find it fun and refreshing and less structured than card making.

The inspiration for my journalling was two lovely friends I have been catching up with this week.  To read all about it and see who has won my recent candy, hop on over to my blog.   I look forward to seeing some one enter a journal page for this challenge,

Spring has Sprung

>> Saturday, September 22, 2012

Hello Copic Lovers,

Well, this is exciting, because it is my first post back with the Mad for Markers team since I had my baby Nicholas and I guess you could say I have been on Maternity leave!

It has taken me five months to get back on track with my colouring and card-making since Nicholas was born.  The Challenge this month at Mad for Markers is to create a Spring inspired project using G and YG markers.  I have used a Some Odd Girl stamp called "Smell the flowers Tia"you can buy this stamp in Sammi's store here for $9.  I have created a journal page using water colour paints for the background.  I coloured the image with Copics using these colours:
Grass: YG03, G94, G99, G14, YG23
Skin: E11, E00, R20
Hair: R59, E37, YR23, Y21
Purples: V09, V06, V04

After making this journal page, I realised I have not used really that many YGs and Gs so I thought I should make another card that is purely green. So I made this one for my neighbour whose birthday it is this week.  He loves skating and skate boards.  This stamp is also available in Sammi's store here.

For this card I used
G21, G17, G28, G14, G05, G85
YG03, YG11, YG41, YG06, YG03
and B93 for the outline.

Link up your G and YG colour creations to our challenge here.
Head over to my blog to see lots of photos of Nicholas and to enter my candy!
Only a few days left to enter!!

A big hello to all the lucky people at the Mad for Markers Conference today in Sydney.
I know you will all have a wonderful day!!!

The Copics I used are:

BG000, B00, BG01, BG05, B05, B24, B18

Why not try to colour something up in some shades of blue today and enter it in our Monochromatic Challenge.

If you are looking for the perfect stamp then head over to the Mad for Marker's store and see Sammi's great range.  Surfer Ian is available here.

Surfer Ian in Monochromatic Shades of Green

>> Saturday, March 10, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

I hope you are having a happy Saturday.  I wanted to share my green Surfer Ian.  I have put him onto a card.   I think he will be perfect for one of my surfie cousins that live up on the Sunshine Coast and both have birthdays later this year...so does that mean I might be organised?? How nice it will be to pull the card out already made and send it off!

But I am getting sidetracked...did you want to know colours?

Here they are: YG11, YG03, YG23, YG06, G14, G05, G28

I followed a sketch, but the challenge has ended now...the sketch I found to be really good though, if you want an easy and quick card to go with an image you have coloured give it a try.

Well, I hope you have a great weekend and get some colouring time in.  Why not make a card for our challenge?  Pop on over to Sammi's store to buy Surfer Ian and the new Greeting farm stamps here.

Thanks for stopping by,

Alicia xx

Happy Birthday with R Copics

>> Saturday, February 25, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,
Welcome to the weekend!  I hope you have a fun one planned.
Today I would like to share a birthday card I have made.
As you know, it is M4M 2nd Birthday and there are lots of celebrations happening.  Giveaways and prizes everyday so make sure you check in regularly at the facebook site here.
For my card today I have coloured in one of the new Mad for Marker's digis designed by Sammi.  She was really fun to colour...and nice and easy too.  I think she will be a very versatile image and she is perfect for a birthday card.  If you would like to buy her you can get her here.

The colours I used were:

Dress and Shoes - R59, R46, R35, R22
Stockings and Present: R22, R20, Y26, E43, E51
Skin: E11, E00, R20
Eyes: B05, B02, B00
Hair: YR04, Y38, YR31
Outline: W-1

I also coloured up some seam binding.  Sammi has this in store for sale here.  It comes in white and oatmeal or you can request it to be custom coloured in a Copic Colour of your choice.  I started with white and coloured it with E35.  Then I edged the outsides with R22 to match the flower I used.

Only a week left to enter our challenge now.
Thanks for stopping by and happy colouring : )

Some Odd Girl - Balloon Kaylee

>> Saturday, January 14, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

Alicia here.  Today I want to share with you a card I made for our current Mad for Markers challenge - Use a New Colour Combination.  The stamp I coloured is one from Sammi's store.  She is a "Some Odd Girl" stamp and her name is "Balloon Kaylee".  Sammi sells her here at the Mad for Markers store for $9.00.  Isn't she a cutie! Perfect for a birthday card.  She comes with a Happy birthday sentiment as well, but my card was a bit too small to fit it on so I had to use one of my own sentiments.

The new Copic Combinations I used were:

Hair: E35, E31, YR20
Reds: R29, R27, R22, R20
Oranges: YR07, YR04, YR23
Peachy Pink (Balloon): R22, R20, R00

The not new combos were:

Skin: E00, E21, E11
Eyes: W-7, W-5, W-3
Outline W1

I made this card for my cousin Jess who turned 21.  I wanted it to be bright and cheery.
I used a Sassafrass paper on the background and the red and white polka-dot was a scrap.
I added the 21 number stickers in the bottom corner and outlined it all with white gel pen.

Will you join us for our new Colour Combination challenge?
If you want to try some of the colouring combinations I have used I made a list of them on my blog here.  Why not pop over and take a look.

I hope you have a lovely weekend full of colouring!

Until next time,

Alicia xx

New Colour Combinations using Blush Babette

>> Saturday, January 7, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

Alicia here.  This is my first post for the New Year at Mad for Markers and this is my first bit of colouring that I have done as well!  I must say I really enjoyed it.

I wanted to try out some new colour combos that I havent used before and I found a big list of Colour Combos here.  I coloured two images of Blush Babette.  She is a dream to colour.  Her hair is fun and her dress has folds so it enabled me to practice those.  Sammi has her in stock for $8.50 here.

In the first image I used a new colour combo for her hair: E35, E31 and YR20.  Suzanne calls this a "golden blonde".
For her dress and socks and shoes I used: R22, R20, R00.  Suzanne calls this colour combo "peachy pinks".  You can also add R21, but I don't own that marker yet.
The skin was not a new combo.  I just used E11, E00 and R20.

For the second image I used Suzanne's dark brunette hair colour combo E50, E53, E57...but when you look at the two hair colours there is not a lot of difference between the overall looks I didnt think.
For the dress I made up my own combo BG000, B05, BG01.  The face was just E11 and E00.

For the faces and skin I coloured lightest first and then added dark, then went back with light to blend in.  But for the hair and clothes I started with the darkest first then went lighter and lighter leaving some parts of the page with no colour at all.  I find this a lot quicker to do.

Dont forget to link up your colouring and show us your new Colour Combos.
Your project doesnt have to be a card.  It can just be a coloured image in your sketch book.

Thanks for popping by and happy colouring.

Colouring Embellishments on a Christmas Card

>> Sunday, December 18, 2011

Hi Copic Lovers,

How are your Christmas preparations going??? Trees up, cards posted, presents bought and wrapped??  I can't say I am that organised...but I am working on it!!  Still a few days to go before Christmas and still some more days left in our Christmas challenge for you to enter a Christmas card or project coloured with Copics!

I have a card from a set of cards I made my MIL to share today.
I havent coloured any images on this card, but I have coloured some embellishments.

The little die-cut doilie behind the sentiment was white but I coloured that with R59 and the gemstone in the middle of the cream ribbon was silver so I coloured that with R59 as well.  The gem stone swirls were already in that shade of green which matched quite nicely so I didnt have to colour those in.  But of course you can colour them if they dont suit your card or project.

That was it - very simple I know...but still using Copics on a Christmas creation.

Hop on over to my blog here to see all the other cards in the collection and to enter my Christmas candy!

Merry Christmas and happy colouring,

Alicia xx
