Phew

We’re back from a long long journey to the NSW coast, where we spent a week with Jem’s family and attended his Brother’s beach wedding.

SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC

It was such a whirlwind holiday and the drive up and back each took approx. 11 hours each. That’s 22 hours with a 3 yr old and 1 yr old in the car. Were they screaming, unbearable or irritating? Not at all!! They were so well behaved I couldn’t believe it! We sang, watched movies, played games and of course visited many a playground in order to keep ourselves sane.

So when I recover I’ll be back to share more and do a bit of blog reading too!

This is what romance looks like… husbands take note

Lace flower bouquet 1 Lace flower bouquet 2 These flowers are a special gift for a lovely wife. A nice man from the US asked me to make them for her. That’s just nice in itself, but wait there’s more…

Every year for their anniversary this nice man gets his wife flowers made from the old traditional anniversary guide. So this means he has had made (or made himself) flowers from: paper, cotton, leather, linen, wood, iron, copper, bronze, pottery, tin, steel, silk and now lace.

I’m dying to see flowers made from rubies and sapphires and of course gold and diamonds! Perhaps that’s a few years down the track though.

I am told that the ladies she works with look forward to her anniversary more than their own!

So my husband has been told to take note. This is romance… saying ‘oh, did you want me to get you something?’ on the actual day of the anniversary isn’t. :)

If you want to make the flowers, you can use this tutorial

And the vase is also lace that I wrapped around a jar and coated several times with modge podge so it would stand up alone. If you do this remember to wrap cling film around the jar first… otherwise your attempts to remove it when dry wont end happily :) (yes I found that out the hard way)

So now that you’ve had a little romance, I hope you have a little smile too!

Disaster

Just like it says... but having a bad day, not just a bad hair day. I think I may have invested a little too much emotion in this wedding thing. I went to the hair dresser today to have a trial for my wedding hair (see below). She just couldn't do it, at all. I was trying to be nice and saying 'i just want that there and this to look like this'... but alas, horrible hair. Here's where the too much emotion part comes in: I got home and burst into tears, sobbing to J that it was all wrong. Hmmm.... perhaps I should take a little step back and breathe a bit. When exactly did I become one of those 'Bridezillas'?
She wants me to come back on Saturday for another go. So I'm going to try it, if she can't do it, I'll just need to pick another style. And before you tell me to go to a different hair dresser, I have thought about it but cannot bring myself to crush this woman's confidence by deserting her. She is after all still training. So we'll try again and this time no tears...

Sorry I haven't been blogging much, I'm so swamped and tired that I just can't get the energy to do it often enough. But I do check everyone else's blogs and imagine myself doing all the crafty things you guys are doing!! So keep it up because I am living through you at the moment!

Ah... just think of what bliss it will be with no wedding to plan for... less than 2 weeks to go!!

Yummy mail & some craftiness...

Woot! Lovely mail waiting for me after work today, thanks to the lovely Miss Curly Pops!! She sent it very sneakily! Thanks so much Cam, I love it! I'm wearing it to work tomorrow to show it off!

And yes... I have been doing crafty stuff! I've just gotten so fed up with only doing wedding stuff that I had to do something different! So I made these little panels to be part of little blankies for some of the 5 babies I know who are arriving in Nov/Dec. I'm hedging my bets- there has to be at least 1 boy and 1 girl in that lot!

I'm also starting a new venture that I can't tell you all about yet... I need to get it all up and running first and it probably wont be until early Nov. Tomorrow I'm doing 3 exams to continue being an Energy Rater for 5 star houses, there's a new program out now so I've got to go and do another 2 day course to be accredited. All this 2 weeks before the big day... I'm cramming like I never crammed in school!!
Hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow. :)

Wedding hair...

Ok, I realise that everything I've been posting lately has something to do with getting married. But really I have nothing else to post about, my life IS my wedding at the moment. Don't worry only 3 weeks to go and I'll be done and dusted with it all!!
But... until then: The bridal hair style! This is what I've chosen, please let me know what you think? I really believe it's elegant and will go with my dress perfectly (which you haven't seen and wont until the big day!)

Thanks so much everyone for all your lovely feedback! I can't get enough, and to tell you the truth you guys are the only ones who I've shown these things to... it's a surprise for my family and friends on the day. So keep it all comin!

Cakes

I got some really nice comments about my chosen wedding cake. I have seen many in my quest for the perfect one. So I thought it would be nice to bring you all a small sample of what's out there in the world of wedding cakes. Beware some of these are, um... different. :)
Enjoy...

The look alike cake is a little too much for me.

Hope some of these gave you a laugh... cheers!
Oh and thank you so much to everyone leaving me all those lovely comments!

Another sneak peak...

Yes that's right... it's my wedding cake to be! Gorgeous isn't she? Except that she will be blue with white flowers (even more gorgeous). A friend of the family is making her for me and because he's coming to the wedding, I don't even need to go pick her up! He's also doing it at cost price for me! (lucky because these apparently cost around $500 where he works!)

And also Curly Pops you should start stalking your mail man around Wed/Thurs. :)

What a day!

Yikes... I have a sore head. It's so not great to be running around after a 1 1/2 year old with a sore head. But I did have a great time yesterday! And I've got the pictures... be warned some are not so flattering.
So I went to the salon at 9am and had my eye brows waxed and a facial with a hand massage, then my make up done (all this by my sister-in-law to be), then I had gel nails done and my hair put up. Mmmmm.... so much pampering....

No nails...

Nails!

Getting a new do!

I got out of the salon at about 2, so I was there for quite a while :). Then I went home to look after Aussie Bob for a while, then took him to baby sitting. I was all ready to roll! So all the girls met at my parent's place and we piled into the 4wd and off to dinner we went... glasses of wine in hand. We went to a nice place and had a lovely dinner, then I had to do some dares. I had to yell out a few things, sing something as loud as I could, then ring J's brother to tell him that he's really the only one I have ever wanted. Very funny- for everyone else! He he, Then we went to the pub and that's all I remember!

Me and friend

Sister and a good friend

3 sister-in-laws and a sister!

My Mum, Aunties and a cousin

Some naughty prizes for the game winners!

Looking a bit worse for wear with my sister.

So I think it was a good night (what I can remember)! Now bring on the wedding!!!

Hen's Day!!!

Woot! Look out it's my hens day and I'm getting the full treatment! :) In 15 mins I'm going to the salon to get: facial, eye brow wax, makeup done, gel nails, hair done. Yeah baby!! I'll update on everything this afternoon.
And Curlypops, can you please leave me your address? I want to send a pressie! :)

More sneak peaks:

Flowers! Fake flowers! I can't stand the cost of fresh flowers at weddings. They last one day, then they're gone. So I found these on ebay- they're 'real touch' roses. They were pretty plain when they arrived so I jazzed them up a bit with pink ribbon, little pearl things and blue ostrich feathers. Tell me what you think? Are the feathers too much?

And this is my bouquet:

I think they are beautiful, and the best part is they can be re-used by someone else!

I also made the little ring pillow for Aussie Bob to carry down the isle. It has our initials in crystals and a little ribbon o tie the rings onto. I just need to make a thing to tie it to him so he can't throw it at anyone! :) (It's a stage he's going through)

Tell me what you really think? I really would like to know!
