Cinderella Cloud

Cinderella by Sinful Colors had been a lemming of mine ever since I saw it on some of the American blogs when it took the nail community by storm a while back. So the last time I was on holiday in the States, I saw it at Walgreens and immediately grabbed it.

All the swatches I ever saw of it I liked but now that I have it in my stash, it's taken me 3 months to even try it.
It's a sheer baby blue with very subtle pink and gold shimmer which isn't as evident as I'd hoped. I didn't think it was actually this sheer so I had to use three thick coats for opacity which took forever to dry! I'll definitely have to wear a baby blue creme base next time.

I wasn't sure what to add to this colour and I didn't feel like stamping today so I went for the cloud on the accent finger again. I regret my colour choices now after looking at the pictures. Probably should have gone for a lighter blue instead of a teal. The base colour on the accent finger is Nails Inc Elizabeth Street.

Kismet Elated gets a French Diamante twist

This is now the second manicure I have done with Kismet Elated. The first time around I added some heavy white opaque french curtain tips which gave the mani a sort of retro feel.

This time I went for a bit of a glitz & glamour look. I added slanted sheer french tips with Zoya Trixie and filled the ring finger with different sized rhinestones:

Sinful Colors - Kismet Elated (another more optimistic go)!

I've used this colour in a mani before (click) back on the 18th June. At the time I was slightly disappointed with it because the colour didn't pop as much as I thought it would. It looked like a dull sort of colour that my nan would have work back in the 60's. It was too sheer even after 3 coats and I could still see vnl!

This afternoon I was looking through some swatches of SC online and came across Kismet Elated. They looked quite nice so I thought I should swatch it again properly and give it a fair go.

Strangely enough, it was the complete opposite of last time I used it! It applied really smoothly, was opaque in 2 coats and I really like the vibrancy of the colour now! It's a lot more on the purple side than it was last time I used it and I could actually see the gold micro-shimmer in it!
Is that weird? Why did I see it completely different and disliked it 3 months ago?!

Beaded French Tips

Ok, so I have to admit... I don't always have the best ideas for manis. Other times, the ideas are actually good but when I translate them onto the nail, it all goes splat!!
That's exactly what happened with this mani. I wanted to use some bullion beads for diagonal french tips but oh boy!!! Were they hard to stick down in a straight line!!

Sinful Colors Dream On, which I used for the base colour, is an electric purple with hot pink undertones which dries matte because it's a neon and that was how I intended to keep it to contrast with the glossy OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender tips!!!...But oh no... I had to add 2 coats of top coat to keep the beads in place (whose colour also smudged!):

Here is 3 coats of Dream On while it was still satin matte. BTW, I have used Dream On on my nails before and once on my cousin's nails. On both occasions, if left matte with no top coat, it chips within 24 hours :-(

From the Vault: Sinful Colors Kismet Elated & BM02

Hi everyone. Hope you are all having a great weekend. After an all day rainy day yesterday, we've got.......... a little bit more rain!!! It's June!!! Stop raining!!!

Today I am showing you a mani I did a couple of weeks ago but was slightly disappointed so I didn't post it right away. Then, I was looking through the files on my laptop and decided that it's actually not all that bad, although I'm not sure what I was trying to achieve and I'm still unsure about the choice of colours!!
I do love this colour (a shimmery magenta-purple with a slight gold shimmer and a bit of a chameleon colour that changes depending on light), I had trouble with the application. As you'll see from the last picture, I applied 3 coats and there is still VNL! I was going to apply a 4th coat but as I was quite annoyed by this point, I didn't! I'm sorry to say I'm a 2 coat kinda gal!!!
I then added some white curtain tips and stamped with Konad White stamping polish and BM02.

xoxo
