Baby Afghan...finished!

good afternoon...
it's a rainy saturday afternoon here.

i didn't think it was going to be
'cos it was sunny and windy this morning...
an excellent day for drying
so i washed a few blankets and hung them out on the clothesline.

i had to quickly fetch them though
when the heavy grey clouds started to close in from the south.

i was up early this morning
tying in woolly threads
to finish my baby sized afghan.

i am pleased with it
&
feel happy to give it to my friend
for her grandbaby.

this is about the limit of my ability in crocheting...
especially at a moment's notice
but another friend who popped in this afternoon
has a book of 101 crochet stitches to lend me
so hopefully i can learn a bit more.

the rest of the day
was filled with another knitting start

&
fetching a few groceries.
our diet has been woeful in the last week or so...
filled with quick meals
and hardly a green leaf in sight.
it was time to rectify this awful situation
&
get a variety of salad veges,
some lovely olives and other seasonal goodies.

do you ever go through periods
where laziness prevails and the dinner table suffers?
{or is it just me?}

oh, well...cheers to you my good friends...
you are an inspiration to me!

Baby Afghan...WIP

have a great weekend everybody!

i have been madly crocheting this afghan
in all my 'spare' minutes this week...
the baby girl is due any time now...
{no..it's not our baby bean!}

her grandma requested this
only last sunday,
so there isn't much time!

i keep my wool from running around
by putting it in a paint tin...
what do you do?

happy creating!

A Finish...

a big hi!
on this very warm & sunny afternoon....

sometimes finishing something that's been sitting around a while
can be a drag...
just the thought of doing it
wears thin as it's moved from pillar to post.

i've used this as a prop,
cleared it off the table before dinner,
moved it onto the table again
when i've gone to use the sewing machine,
hidden it away for a while
when i wasn't interested
&
brought it out again
when my conscience has said
'what about that little bit of crocheting you haven't finished?'...haha

well..all along,
in my heart,
i knew
that it would end up covering a teeny little cushion...just 35cm...
'cos the little cushion was just sitting there
begging to be covered!

i know this looks a bit skewiff in this pic...
but it is a lovely cuddly piece of woolly goodness!

just the right size to fit between the small of your back and the sofa,
or rest a weary cheek on while resting your eyes for a moment.

the back..a little less spectacular...
{but just as cuddly!}

by the way...
since my lounge room makeover,
i love having somewhere permanently set up
for  the display of a bunch of flowers.

the lilliums are gone,
but a bunch of bright red gladdies
are about to bloom
in among a red flowered,
black berried
piece of bush
that mr w found down the back yard
on the weekend...
it was pretty so we had to keep it.

i've made another of jeni's little bags...
see 3 posts ago..i think...
for my first.

i'll show you next time!

have a creative kind of tuesday...

Missed It!

well wouldn't you know it...

yesterday was my blogs first birthday
and i missed it...
not due to my own lack of diligence though,
my computer wouldn't function.

it wouldn't even turn itself on for me...
well, i pressed the 'on' button but there was no response,
just a little flicker from the monitor,
that was all.

fortunately we have at least one computer savvy person
in this household...
and mr t took a look
got me another video card
&
voila..here we are again.
{though i think the colour needs a bit of adjustment!}

i did a bit of crocheting this morning....

it's the first time in ages that
i've even felt like doing some...
then i just had the urge to create something in green and cream.

i don't quite know what it's going to turn into yet either...
but while the urge lasts i'm going with it!

i'm still going to have a giveaway for my first blog birthday
but as 'madeit' is having problems
i will delay that and let you know when that will be.

i took part in a 'pay it forward' exercise
and being one of the first three commenters
on shez's blog... 'enjoying life'
she sent me a beautiful black bag that she made!

...thanks shez!
i love it!

it is soft and textured,
fully lined with pockets inside for keeping keys or other knick-knacky things...
i'm thinking it will be perfect for taking out in the evening.

now it is my turn to pay it forward.

the first three people who say they would like me to make them
something just for them...
will get something during the next year...
yes you have a whole year to pay it forward...
then when you receive something from me,
it's your turn to pay it forward
to three people on your blog!

if you want to play..then just say it
with a comment!
if you don't say specifically that you want in
then I won't take it that way...ok?

sounds like fun doesn't it!

see you over at 'our creative spaces'!

Mindy's Monday...

good morning!

a few weeks ago
mindy
from 'in-the-loop'
sent me some amazing cushion covers.

they are crocheted ones
and made out of beautifully textured and variegated yarns!

i took them out into the garden to take photos...
in amongst the ferns, rocks and logs!

i made calico covers for the inserts,
then gave them to my friend marie...
she sewed mindy's covers together and put a border on this one,
a real joint effort!

mindy crocheted this one out of thick chunky yarn...
beautifully coloured creams with a rich accent of burgundy and forest green.

this yarn is extraordinary...
almost an opal like quality of colour,
if you look closely
bands of slightly different colours are apparent.

the other side of this one is forest green...

someone or two in theodore
will have a handmade work of art shortly...
soft and lovely
just in time for winter!

mindy..you've done yourself proud!
thank you for helping flood affected people in theodore, queensland.

when i picked them up this morning to take the pictures..
i couldn't help myself, i just had to give them a big squishy cuddle..lol
i don't think i'll be the last either!

have a wonderful monday
and are feeling 'minspired'!
{inspired by mindy..hehe}

Today is a Special Day!

'cos today is my dad's 80th birthday...

hi dad!

i know you're busy!

i just want a few minutes of your time today...

to wish you a very happy birthday...

and a wonderful year ahead !

you deserve the best !

a little while ago...
i made something for you,

handmade especially for you!

i sent it off to new zealand early
so the big old aussie moths
wouldn't get stuck into it over summer!

{the stamps weren't french!}

mum has probably given it to you by now....

just thought...
you can use it over your knees when writing those radio articles in winter...
or take it on picnics...
or put it in the spare room!

anyway
i hope you enjoy everything
that today will bring!

Not a Flower Wasted...

Just a short word today...

tried a cream field of flowers.
i think it worked a treat.
check out the other side...

I cut up an old sheet from vinnies, in pale blue..
(it covered 3 cushions for $1.50)

my field of flowers cushion has 3 buttons on one side
so that i can wash its woolly wonder.
i cleaned up the window seat in my bedroom
just for this photographic occasion.
i think i will keep it this way.... forever if poss.

Tomorrow i have other goodies..
til then...see ya.
