Soak up some fun...

TGIF!

Well, I'm on a roll with grabbing images off my desk and finally getting them colored. This curly haired beauty is the retired Glide Piper digital stamp from Some Odd Girl. I thought she might be one of the SOG digis still available at Whimsy Stamps but it looks like I was mistaken. Still, if you are looking to color up some classic SOG images be sure to check out their digi section. Glide Piper had been printed out pretty big so I thought it would be nice to keep the focus on her and turn the whole card into a faux giant postage stamp with the Mama Elephant die and the XL Postage Collage stamps from Waffle Flower. I also snuck in some mermaid specific postage from the Fantasy Post Marks set from Sweet November. To create all of the bubbles around Piper, I dipped a q-tip into the Copic colorless blender and touched it to the water for the large bubbles then came in with the colorless blender marker to add some smaller bubbles to the mix. The last step was to add glossy accents over top to make each bubble shine. It's like this pretty mermaid was waiting all this time for just the right theme to finally come together.

An ocean apart...

Hello, hello!

I've had this lovely mermaid sitting on my desk for a few years now and yesterday it was finally her turn to get on a card. She is a digi from Elisabeth Bell called, Tide the Mermaid. She is so pensive and sweet looking, I can't believe I waited this long to color her up. The sand bar she is sitting on inspired me to add a few more to the little bay that she is resting in, making it look like low tide. The sentiment felt like it matched her mood perfectly. So, that's another one off the desk which is always a win in my book.  ;)

Mermaid to be friends...

Olo!

You probably wouldn't be surprised to hear that I have a tendency to collect mermaid stamps faster than I can ink them all up. So, when it was time to create a card yesterday I started searching through sets that haven't made it on a card yet. When I came across this cute Be a Mermaid set from Pink and Main I knew I had a winner. The set includes three mermaids, some sea critter friends and a bunch of great sentiments and I thought it would be fun to pair these two together. I loved the idea of a playful mermaid leaping out of the water and over her friend as they play together in the big, blue sea. The sentiment also plays into the whole friendship theme of this card. I gotta say, it feels great seeing these cuties finally come to life.  :)

No grit, no pearl...

Good morning!

It's week two of MerMay fun at Sweet November Stamps and the second of four new stand alone digis has been added to the store. These digis coincide with the current week's MerMay progression challenge that can be found in the Friends of Sweet November Stamps Facebook group. This week we've added Granny High Tide to the shop and I sneak peeked her during my Live coloring on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page Saturday. This mermaid may have been around the reef a time or two but she is still fabulous and full of sass. Once we decided on an under the sea scene for Granny High Tide I paired her with a cute seahorse from the Something's Fishy set. The rest of the scene was all colored in by hand, where we concentrated on creating a foreground, mid-ground and back ground, adding lots of depth and dimension. After the Live I added the sentiment from the Calico set to wrap it all up.  :)
