Jumping on the bed...

Hudson absolutely LOVES jumping. Whenever I have to take his mattress out of his crib to change the sheet he always wants to jump on it. Since it keeps him entertained, I usually just take it out in the living room and let him jump on it all morning!

Zorro decided he wanted to play, too, so Hudson teased him with his toy monkey. Hudson thinks it is hilarious when Zorro tries to get his toy back from him!

The 1940s...

Our Stake had a Vintage Fashion show yesterday. They had some of us model clothes that people would have worn through the years from when Relief Society started until now. I was from the 1940s.

My friend Alyse did my hair for me (thank you!!). I painted my nails red, and of course had to have the bright red lips and cheeks to match!

This wasn't quite everyone, but it gives you an idea of the kinds of outfits they had us wear!

You crack me up!

I just think this is so funny, and I want to remember it when he gets older! Hudson is kind of a skinny little boy, so he always has a hard time keeping his pants up. And when he has a really wet diaper, it is even worse. This is the result:

Every time I see this I just about die laughing!

One Sunday when we were leaving church Abe sat Hudson on his shoulders to go out to the car. I was getting my stuff and following them out. When I looked up I saw Hudson's ENTIRE bum hanging out! I couldn't stop laughing. I quickly grabbed his shirt and pulled it down over his bum. I don't think anyone else actually saw.

Valentine's happenings

So I guess it's a really good thing we celebrated Valentine's a little early because Hudson ended up being sick! Poor kid, but hopefully he will get better soon.

Last week I tried my hand at making heart shaped cupcakes for the kids at my mom's- most of them actually turned out ok! I also put up a few decorations, and even made heart shaped waffles one night! I don't know why, but I think Valentine's is really fun- maybe because my favorite color is red.

Abe and I went out to dinner and a movie on Thursday. We were able to do it pretty cheap because we used a giftcard for dinner and went to see a free movie (Abe gets tickets to preview movies before they come out), and since it was at Harkins we got free popcorn with Abe's shirt and $1 drinks with their cups!

We never really do a lot for eachother on Valentines, just keep it simple. Abe brought me home a rose (pictured above) and we exchanged cards and candy. Hudson got a sock monkey and Elmo flashlight from us (thanks to Abe's awesome garage saleing.... I am glad Hudson doesn't care if things are brand new! I guess he really doesn't know the difference.... yet) My mom also got him a really cute shirt. I wanted to take some cute pics of him in a red shirt, but he wasn't really feeling up to it- I guess we'll have to do that next year.

We also had a BBQ with come friends last weekend. Jessica made some heart shaped sugar cookies for the kids to decorate.

Hudson just kept stabbing his cookie with his knife... then he decided to taste the frosting... I helped him spread on the frosting so he could decorate it. I thought it was hilarious, though, because he wouldn't actually put the candy on the cookie because he just wanted to eat it!

We had a great time with all of our friends!

Hope your Valentine's day was fun!
PS- I forgot to mention about his hoodie- he ALWAYS wants to wear his "hat" when he has his jacket on. I was so surprised he still had his jacket on in the house (it's usually the first thing to come off), but for some reason he kept it on and so he also kept his hood on! Silly boy :)

Tumbleweed Park

We ventured on a little field trip last week with some friends to Tumbleweed Park in Chandler. None of us had ever been there before, but we had all heard great things about it. It was HUGE! There were tons of things for the kids to play on, and they all had a blast.

Some of our friends who came- Josie, Preston, and Tate

They had this fun little wobbly bridge that shook when you ran across or jumped on it. It kept the kids entertained for a while.

Here's Preston and Hudson going down the slide. Hudson LOVES older kids, and especially Preston. I think it's so cute that he has his arm behind Hudson at the top of the slide, just giving a little encouragement.

And here's Hudson swinging like a big boy! I can't believe he can do this already (not on his own, but that he is actually big enough to hold himself on it). He still enjoys the toddler swings, but is loving using the big swings.
He also put his own hat on. He loves to wear it backwards lately... too cute.

We all had a great time, and are thinking about planning monthly 'field trips' to somewhere new, fun, and of course cheap! Let me know if you have any great ideas- preferably free or almost free :)

'New' furniture

So I have had it in my mind for a while to redo this old buffet that we got at a yard sale a LONG time ago. I just never knew where I wanted to put it. I finally decided to move some things around, and then it would be able to fit in our front room. I had to redo the coffee table in the front room, too, so that they would match- but I was happy to finally do something different with it! We had also bought it at a yard sale, and it was in desperate need of a makeover.

(I started sanding and then remembered I wanted to take pictures)

(I had already taken off the doors and drawers)

I used some black paint that I had left over from another project, and I was able to buy new knobs with a gift certificate we had to Lowe's. So I didn't end up paying that much out of pocket when all was said and done! Woo-Hoo! I feel like I have new furniture, and almost for free!

Fun with cousins

We went to the park a few weeks ago with some of Hudson's cousins. Grandma had the day off work and we all had a fun time together!
Kylie and Brecken showed me how they can do the monkey bars!

Karsten enjoyed the playground, and little Jacey enjoyed trying to eat the wood chips (don't worry, we didn't actually let her eat them!)

Hudson had fun with Grandma on the swing!

There was this cool train that all of the kids had fun pretending and climbing on.

And we also had a lot of fun on the slide- even Grandma joined in!

Thanks for the fun day!

Silly boy

Hudson just keeps us laughing non-stop. He is getting so big so fast, and he is definately turning into a big boy with his own opinions and ways to do things!

Hudson is not a real big eater. It usually takes a lot of coaxing and various attempts to get him to eat much. He is really an on-the-go eater, so it makes it difficult to get him to eat more than a few bites. I kept reading about how you could try to make eating more fun by making the food into cool shapes/things. So I decided to give it a try. I found our only cookie cutter- a star, and decided to make him a PB&J. He usually only eats about a half of a sandwich, but he was SOOO excited about his star sandwich! He ate it up super fast, and asked for more. He actually ate 3 stars!! I couldn't believe it. Since then we've borrowed some cookie cutters and made bunnies and ghosts, but the star seems to be his favorite. Abe came up with a clever idea for the left over pieces of the sandwich- we call them boats! So Hudson usually has at least 1 star sandwich and some boats every day :)

Another funny story- One day I was changing the laundry (which happens to be in the pantry) and I was talking to a friend on the phone. I see Hudson come back into the pantry with the giant box of goldfish... mind you I never saw him take it out- and this is the BIG box of fish- the kind you pour like an old-style milk carton. I went out to see what he had done, and this is what I saw.

He had helped himself to a snack at his new little Cars table he got for his birthday.

How can you be upset with this cute little face? I thought it was pretty funny.

I also found him like this one day.
He had put this giant spongebob water bottle that his Papa Benny gave him at the table, too. He must have wanted come company for lunch!

Here are a few more random funny/cute things Hudson has done lately:

--I had to wake Hudson up for church, and I said, "Hudson, it's time to go to church today." He said, "No wanna church a-day"

--I got Hudson up one morning, and I was already dressed and had a necklace and earrings on, too. He looked up at me and said, "Church a-day?" I guess that's the time I usually get dressed up! :)

-Hudson always wants to push the button for the garage door and for people's doorbells. He always says, "I wanna push the butt"

--I thought this was super sweet- Hudson colored a picture of Jesus in nursery, and on the way home he was looking at his picture and said, "Jesus lub you." Too cute!

--Yesterday Hudson went pee pee on the potty (he's not really trained yet, but he goes sometimes). I said to him, "Hudson, should we potty train you?" He got REALLY excited and said, "potty TRAIN?!? potty TRAIN?!? I wanna potty train!" He thought I meant a real train- he is totally into trains lately. I just about died laughing... I'll have to be more careful next time about what I ask him :)
