Super7 is taking pre-orders for their second wave of Thundercats Classics Ultimates figures. So we are taking a look at the MattyCollector release of Pumyra who is getting re-released by Super7. The Ultimates version should be shorter and include additional accessories.

Vintage Toy Haul including GI Joe, Power Rangers, Thundercats, Toy-Biz X-Men, and more! Here are a bunch of toys I've picked up recently. 2017 was a a pretty good year for toy show toy hunting. I'm sure 2018 will be another good year. Toy collecting is big business in this area of the US. Lot of shows and toys stores with in a two hour drive. Check out the haul below.

NJCC Vintage Toy Haul

Last weekend was the New Jersey Collectors Convention (NJCC). As usual I picked up a bunch of vintage action figures. Time to take a look at my haul! Power Rangers, Thundercats, COPS, Army Ants, and more.

Action Figure Spring Cleaning

Time to do some cleaning. I have toys sitting around from Flea Market Finds and Collection Sorts and I need to clean them up and figure out what stays and what goes. So I'm outside on a nice day cleaning them up with warm soapy water. Lots of Thundercats and GI Joe stuff. Also some Power Rangers and other toys to be cleaned.

Today Paul and I take a look at a bunch of Thundercats who have been in a attic for almost 30 years. I love shooting these type of videos. Let me know if you guys like watching them. I got this collection from a co-worker. She gave me a whole bunch of toys that belonged to her two sons.

LIon-O Update / Comment Response

Today I took a second look at Lion-O from MattyCollector. Time to take a look at the comments I got on my previous video. The Sword of Omens, interchangeable hands, and the Clawsheild are the main points of discussion.

Thundercats Lion-O from MattyCollector

All new Thundercats figures from MattyCollector kicks off the subscription with Lion-O. He's a nice looking figure using similar parts to the MOTU Classic figures. I do have some complaints. Check out the video review below.

Club Third Earth: Thundercats from MattyCollector

The newest action figure subscription from MattyCollector goes on sale on Monday 1/11/16. Club Third Earth will feature six Thundercats action figures plus a sub exclusive figure for a total of seven awesome toys. Lion–O, Jackalman, Pumyra, Club-exclusive: Mumm–Ra , Panthro, Grune and Jaga.

80's Children's Books - Thundercats, Star Wars, He-Man

Below you will find some of the coolest Children's Books I owned in the 80's. Thundercats, Star Wars and He-Man are all represented below.

First up is a Find Your Fate (Choose Your Own Adventure) called Thundercats and the Snowmen of Hook Mountain. The cover features a really nice illustration of the Snowman battling Lion-O. I had the Snowman as a kid and always wanted to get an extra Battle Cat from He-Man to paint white for his cat.

For as often at the Thundercats ended up at Hook Mountain you'd think they'd come up with some winter coats or something. Most of the Thundercats barely wear cloths.

Next up we have the Star Wars Return of the Jedi book The Ewoks Join the Fight. This book basically tells a section of the story of RotJ. The Ewoks team up with the Rebles to attack the Shield Generator Bunker. I think it's funny in the inside illustration below that Leia is dressed in her Ewok Village Dress and Hair Style not her Rebel Commando outfit. Didn't they learn anything from Blue Snaggletooth?

Next up we have Master of the Universe: He-Man Smells Troule. I really like the art on the cover. Th art inside is a little more goofy and not as nice.

The final book for this post is Masters of the Universe: New Champions of Eternia. This book has some really awesome art inside. I also like that the front cover features Battle Armor He-Man, who was the first version of the character I owned as a kid.

Silverhawks & Thundercats @ Retro Con

At Retro Con I picked up some more Silverhawks. I've been slowly collecting figures from this line. They are hard to find in nice condition. I bought two figures and three birds. Copper Kid is one of the original characters with the spring open wings feature. Condor is a later character who has a spring-loaded missile launcher built into his arm.

Talley-Hawk (Gray) came with Quicksilver. Rayzor the blue bird came with Steelheart. Slybird who is orange came with Stargazer.




Three Thundercats voice actors were at Retro Con. Peter Newman and Larry Kenney were also voices for Silverhawks.

Retro Con 2014 Report Begins

Retro Con 2014 has come and gone. I had a great time toy hunting, hanging out with friends, but the best part was meeting a childhood hero. Sgt. Slaughter one of my top five GI Joe characters. I played with the figure that came with the TripleT Tank until his shoulders and knees where floppy. To this day I can't help but smile from ear to ear when I watch the cartoon GI Joe: the Movie. I even featured Sgt. Slaughter in my stop motion show Action Figure Adventures, even if my buddy Derek wrote him as a bit of a maniac. Getting to meet Sarge in real life was such a treat. He was very approachable and talked quite a bit to me about how he got involved with Hasbro. Sgt. Slaughter talked to me about recording his lines for the movie and how he loved that you couldn't buy his figure at first. You had to "earn" him with the call  the phone number for a  secret code promotion.

 Here is a quick shot right after my shift as a volunteer ended. Show organizer Tony is in the back in the black shirt and my friends Nick (seated) and Mike are in the foreground. Their shifts were all ending as well. We had the morning rush.

Along with getting to meet Sgt. Slaughter, there were lots of other guests who voiced some of my favorite cartoon characters. Zach Hoffman was the voice of Zartan in the GI Joe cartoon series. I had him sign a carded  25th Anniversary Zartan figure.

 Three of the Thundercats voice actors were at the show. this year. Larry Kenney (Lion-O) actually had so much fun at  the show three years ago he asked show organizers Rose and Tony if he could come back. Peter Newman (Tygra) and Gerrieanne Raphael (Pumyra) were also present. I had all three actors autographs on photos of their characters from previous events.




Since I got the honor of creating a stop motion video featuring Larry's voice I took a long a DVD of one of my favorite stop motion animated Christmas Specials to have Larry and Peter sign, since they did voice work. The Life and Adventures of Santa Clause was the final Rankin/Bass Holiday Special and is based on a Frank Baum book (Wizard of Oz author... so it's weird).

I saw this special as a kid and really enjoyed it. I didn't know what it was called for many ears. I was very happy when I was able to track it down a few years ago.

Then when I watched it, I was blown away to find out the Thundercats provided voices for this animated special. Peter was pretty impressed that I was actually able to find a copy of the movie.





I love cool play sets so while walking around the vendor area I snapped a few photos of some of my favorite play sets I saw for sale. Below you'll see Eternia  from He-Man & the Masters of the Universe, the USS Flagg from GI Joe, The Hive from Sectaurs, and the Star Wars Cantina Adventure Set that included Blue Snaggletooth.

Morgan Lofting, the voice of the Baroness in the GI Joe cartoon was also at the show. I like to get the actors to sign the 25th Anniversary single card figures, but I'm not a fan of that figure in the blue outfit from that line.

 I was racking my brain trying to think of something I had that I could ask Morgan to sign. Just before I left the house to go to the 2nd day of Retro Con I remembered I had save a Dollar Store Baroness from 2004 because I thought the little packaging was kind of funky. The Valor vs Venom small card didn't leave Morgan a lot of space to sign.

I had Sgt Slaughter sign a poster that was included in a old issue of the GI Joe Magazine. It featured the 1986 Live the Adventure artwork. I also had him sign a SDCC Exclusive TripleT Tank Sgt Slaughter figure. I loved that vintage figure as a kid.

Reptilian - Thundercats Miniature

The toy company LJN produce the large Thundercats action figures in the 80's as well as a line of miniature PVC figures. One of the more obscure characters who got a mini-figure but not a full sized action figure was Reptilian. This green-skinned lizard-man dressed in a yellow toga can be seen in the opening sequence as well as a couple times through out the series. At the beginning of the Thundercats series they establish that there are lots of mutants of each race (lizard, monkey, jackal) but the "main" mutants are all we really see later in the show. I really like the miniature line, but they are had to find, especially with their weapons. Reptilian should have a spiked ball tied to a handle by a bit of string. I bought this guy at a yard sale as a kid, but a while after the Thundercats had been out of toy store.

NJCC - August 2014

Sunday Morning before heading to the final day of the FYE event I went down to Cherry Hill, NJ for the New Jersey Collectors Convention. I know a lot of the dealers at the show and pretty much all of my toy collector friends who live locally attend the show.

The day before while eating lunch after the FYE costume contest, my fiend Rose kept talking about how big the box to Eternia was. My buddy Nick and I cracked up when we saw the box at NJCC. So of course the "how big is it?" jokes started up again.

Hey, look it's Jen the executive producer of the Breaux Show buying more Strawberry Shortcake toys.

 Boss Fight Studio was at NJCC again showing off stuff they did for the GI Joe collectors club as well as their new H.A.C.K.S. figures pictured above.

I got my most desired MOTU Classics figure as well as the only giant I was missing from the line. Wundar was the club exclusive figure from the first year of the MOTUC subscription. He's based on a mysterious figure know as both Savage He-Man and Wonder Bread He-man. He comes with a whole Power Sword, half Power Sword, black Zodac armor and gun, and a loaf of bread. I also picked up Tytus who I originally passed on, but now that I have almost the entire line it's goofy to not have him. I'd need to check to make sure, but I think the Green Goddess is the only MOTUC figure I still need.

 I'm a big fan of all the weird tie-in merchandise for 80's properties, so I couldn't pass up this sealed set of Lite-Brite picture refills featuring GI Joe.

Some of the images you can create are pretty cool, others are kind of duds.

Scareglow is one of the vintage Masters of the Universe figure I've wanted the most. Now I need to hunt down his cape and weapon. I also picked up this super clean vintage R2-D2. The one I have in my collection currently is pretty beat up from being played with by myself as a kid.

 Below are a few treasure I dug out of a dollar bin. Mumm-Ra from Thundercats. Nighstalker the evil mechanical horse from MOTU, Super Mario Bros. movie version Luigi, and the sister from Jim Henson's Dinosaurs.

Mark Bellomo was at the show so I talked with him a bit. He's a treasure trove of toy knowledge. I picked up volumes 3, 4, & 5 of the Complete GI Joe comic series that he's working on. This series collects all the issues of the Marvel comic with all kinds of cool notes and facts. A really great way to read the comic.

One of the vendors was selling a bunch of mint Star Vipers sealed in their little bubbles. He bought them off a former Hasbro employee in Rhode Island.

Last but not least, the ever important parts! I love digging though parts bins for pieces I need to complete toys I already own.  JUMP jetpack, VAMP steering wheel, VAMP mark II gas cans and doors, Spirit v1 backpack and gun, Viper backpack, Lt. Falcon gun, Typewriter and Record Player from the M.A.S.H. TV show playset, Beachhead's ammo satchel (soft version), Cobra-La Royal Guard communicator, 4-LOM gun, Ewok staff, Snow Cat windshield wiper, and Raptor's bird.

Flogg - MOTUC

Flogg, the leader of the Evil Space Mutants has finally arrived as a Masters of the Universe Classics figure. He turned out great. Flogg is a weird purple skinned reptile like alien. He's dressed in red and silver armor with a helmet and large boots. Flogg is armed with his Sidewinder Laser Whip, or a space fishing pole depending on how you look at it.

I think the whip made more sense with his vintage figure that included an action feature. It's a fitting accessory, but kind of lame for a Classics figure.  I understand they have to address safety concerns, but a little black rope is not threatening.

Flogg comes with an additional accessory, but it's not for him. It's a Power Sword for He-Man based on the Filmation cartoon. Why this weapon came with a New Adventures of He-Man figure we may never know. They just did a Filmation mini-sub but didn't include it with any of those figures.

Flogg has given up on JDate, and is now literally fishing for a date.

Allentown Comic - Purchases & Autographs

 Yesterday I posted all the photos of cosplayers and other fun things from the show. Along with getting my photo taken wih "Jason" from Power Rangers I was able to get my Red Ranger figure autographed.  Last year at Allentown I had Walter Jones sign a Black Ranger figure.


Along with the Power Ranger figure I also took three comics with me to get signed by Inker and Artist Bob McLeod. I know Bob's work from the GI Joe: A Real American Hero comics from Marvel. I didn't really follow New Mutants, but he created the series with scribe Chris Clarmont.


I took GI Joe issue #1 (which was previously signed by author Larry Hama), GI Joe Special Mssion #21 because it has one of the coolest Joe covers. Both GI Joe books were inked by McLeod. I also took with me the only New Mutants issue I own, #3 which Bob drew.

The Great Allentown Comic Con is held in an antiques mall, so in additon to the show floor there are also venders in the regular stores and a few shops carry comic/toy type stuff. One shop was having a crazy 50% off everything sale. I'm not sure if they were going out of businees or what. I picked up Disc of Doom Skeletor from the New Adventures line for $2. He don't have his accessories, but his little visor things are still intact. I like how he has the light up eyes. The back of his head is made of clear plastic allowing the light behind him to light up his eyes.

I snapped up the three main mutants from Thundercats at 50% off. No I need to look around for accessories for these guys. Slithe, Jackalman, and Monkian are all welcome additions to my collection. Monkian was the only one of the three I had as a kid

On my first time through the store I passed on the Tuska Warrior and Ratar-o. Later in the day they had been moved to the $2 table so I snatched them up. Again these guy are in nice shape but have no accessories. I had Tuska as a kid.

I bought a set of kids sized GI Joe suspenders. They were originally marked at $5 but they were half price. I love all the weird merchandise created for vintage lines. They feature the card back art for Lt. Falcon.

The next two piece of interesting GI Joe merchandise I purchases were actually for sale on the Comic Con sales floor. I got a pack of the vintage GI Joe plastic bandages (Band-Aids). The box features Flint's card art. I also got a pack of eight birthday invitations. They feature Shockwave, Repeater, and Spearhead. They are vary similar in design to ones that features Roadblock, Hawk, and Sgt Slaughter that I had as a kid.

The items I was most excited to find at the store that was selling every thing at half price was carded Star Wars figures. I don't own a single carded vintage Star Wars toy even though I have the entire collection loose. I like to have a few carded specimens in my collection. I my excitement to snap up some figure I didn't look closely enough an the Bib Fortuna isn't really sealed. His bubble is kind of taped closed. At least I got him pretty cheap. I guess I bought a mint complete figure with his card back.

Weequay is actually carded, but you can see there is a little wear on the cornor of his package. Still fun to have a carded figure, and I got a good price.

Nikto here is just about perfect. His bubble is crystal clear, his backer is is flat and straight and it's even un-punched.
