Daylight

One of the finest moments this week was that we finally found a date for gathering in Glagsow in May. I will check out the flights during this weekend and I am sure I will find a solution that fits to me. Meanwhile a song I found these days from a new band to me. Shadow band seems to come from Philadelphia and released a home-recorded folk-psychedelic, low-fi album these days. Certainly not the next big thing but a record I listened much the recent days. When  Daylight is more a finger-picked ballad Mad John with it's echoed guitar is more bluesy. Anyway, a band I wonder where their career will lead them to.

Have a great weekend.

My Guitar Wants To Kill You Mama

During the last days I rediscovered Frank Zappa and his records. He was always an artist that accompanied me during my musical education. I was introduced to him in the mid 70's by an older friend of mine and I had my problems understanding his music in my younger days. But I purchased a few records during the last decades. Listening now to his songs with a distend view I have to say that he was far ahead of his time (in any period of his work). There were so different and difficult arrangements in his songs and the more you listen to them the more details you can hear. So it is time to feature him after all these years once again. This song is a live version showing his collaboration with Joe Satriani, a superb guitar player when he plays blues and rock.

Stop Me (Stop You)

We all used to have a good internet connection at home or outside with your mobile phone during the whole month. Not so in Sri Lanka, We used to have good connection until the 24th and after then only one hour a day. I don't know the reason (maybe too many customers since Christmas time). So I had to wait until the new year to check out what was new. Nick Murphy, formerly known as Chet Faker, released the second single from his upcoming album. Stop Me is like two songs built in one. Starting with Murphy's typical voice which flows over siren-like synthesizers . The beats float around to get a piano ballad by a fluent crossing.

Eat You Up

This will be the last Sunday at my place for this year because I am leaving to Sri Lanka as every year to spent the time over Christmas and the changing of the year. Everything is ready and prepared so that I only have to work until Friday. Knowing that these five days will feel like five weeks in fact there are a lot of jobs to do. Don't worry it is the same every year and I's sure I will manage it. As every Sunday I check out my favourite Austrian radio station fm4 what's new in music and politics. As far as I know it is the only site that contains articles not only in German. Of course they aim to a younger audience than me but it is always interesting to follow them. Their program is mainly based on electric music and especially Austrian musicians but you find some gems from other genres there as well. Today I found the newest release by Palastic ft. LissA. Investigations about them ended unsuccessful and the only information I can give to you is that Palastic is an Austrian production duo working mainly on remixes. They often invite a female vocalist named LissA to complete their record. And how to describe their sound? Maybe slow house combined with electronic soul with a succinct voice over their electronic works. Sometime LissA's voice reminds me to SOAK. Can't imagine? Try.

For those who want to listen to more - here's their last year record.
