Halloween Fun!

Happpy Halloween!!
We had a busy Halloween, but a lot of fun. We managed to get a little work done too. The day started early and we went strong. So strong I took a little nap when I fell asleep at 8:45pm on the couch. Pumpkins were carved, tricks and treats were gotten and jack-o-lanterns were made. Damon deserves 2 thumbs up because he went to a soccer game too.

We met up with some of the kids from the neighborhood and went out for two hours. Lily only lasted a half hour and I ended up carrying her home. She was so cute. The boys had so much fun. It was Adam's first time going with the "Big" kids. Our courtyard was all decorated for the trick-or-treaters is fine Halloween fun.

I am glad this holiday is over. Now bring on Thanksgiving.

Field Trip Thursday & a taste of Halloween

Our field trip this week was a well read one. The library has a partnership with In n Out burgers and when you read 5 library book you get a ticket for a free burger. The kids flew through 5 books and yesterday we went to In n Out for our field trip. We called up our friends to join us. We had a lovely time and ate some yummy burger.

Earlier that day I had a birthday brunch with some friends. No pictures, but I felt like I should mention it. It was nice getting together without the kids and without any other distractions going around. I know that I am loved in San Diego.

Last Saturday our church had our Halloween Party. Damon was at a luau so it was just the kids and I. We had chili and cornbread, played carnival games and went "Trunk or Treating" around the parking lots to the cars of people who were there. The kids had fun. Who Doesn't need more candy before Halloween?

Birthday Magic

It was my birthday on the 22nd and we decided to celebrate it by going to Disneyland. Damon took the day off work and the whole family went. It was such a great day. The park wasn't to crowded and the weather was delightful.
We spent the day riding rides and relaxing. The kids were great. We had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and had a lovely time. The kids were great all day and were so nice to me. We did something we haven't before and went to Tom Sawyer's island. It is now called "Pirates Lair". The kids loved running around and climbing through all the caves. We ended up finding the pirate booty.
That night we watched the Halloween fireworks show. It was amazing. It was one of my favorite fireworks shows they have ever done. The kids loved it and we all enjoyed spending time together. In mom's mind it was a great birthday.

Some Ghoulish Fun

Well it's almost Halloween, which also means it's almost my birthday. To start the pre-birthday festivities the kids and I got together to make yummy rice crispy treats. We added butterscotch chips to the treats and after they set we dipped them in chocolate. We decided to "BOO" our neighbors. The kids love doing that every year. We also loved eating the leftovers. After not having any sugar over the past couple of weeks it really did me in. I am seriously ill right now. Damon came home from work late and saw the mess and asked, "Have the birthday festivities already started?" He knows me so well. He also did the dishes from all the merriment so I could relax and do the blog. So sweet.

What this picture doesn't show is the mess we made just making the crispy treats. Or the chaos for that matter.

Saturday Football Fun!

We had a real treat this weekend. We were able to go to the BYU vs SDSU game. My parents came down on Friday and my sister and her family came down on Saturday. We had so much fun hanging out with friends at the game as well as family.
Loved hanging out with the girls and cheering on the cougars!

Noah's highlight came at the end of the when he got to shake hands with all the players and especially the quarterback, Max Hall. He was the last one. Noah was so happy.

Adam was able to meet Cosmo, BYU's mascot. It was great. We waited so long, but he finally came over to where we were and got pictures with us.
It was a close game and I was really stressed the last couple of minutes, but BYU was able to pull off the win. After the game we all game back to our house and had hamburgers and birthday cake for an early party for me.

It was a fun Saturday, but boy are we tired now.

Noah's exciting field trip!

Noah got to pick the field trip this week. It was specially designed just for him. We went to the orthodontist. He got his braces off. He was so excited. He hasn't told anyone so he can surprise them tomorrow at school. He has known about it for two weeks and hasn't told a soul.

After the appointment I let him pick where we went and he wanted to go get Foster's Freeze at El Pollo Loco. That's what we did. Everyone enjoyed their treats except mom. She is still abstaining. She is starting to feel deprived.
The kids all enjoyed their quick, but fun field trip.

Family Fun!

My little sister is in town with her baby. We went up to see them today. It was nice being together with both my sisters. The kids had fun being up at Mortensen manor with their cousins. We had a nice dinner and everyone but me had a yummy dessert. Grandma and Grandpa were there too. We played this game called "Imagineiff". It was pretty funny.

Saturday Damon and I spent the afternoon cutting down all the ivy that had crown over our fence. We are getting a new fence and needed to remove all the ivy from the fence. 5 hours, one broken rake and an awful lot of spiders later it is done. I am now sore all over. I don't believe I was built for manual labor.

A Simple Field Trip

We have been so busy and my tolerance levels have been low that I just wanted to go back to the basics. So for this field trip Thursday I picked up the kids and we headed to a great park with a picnic lunch.
The kids thought having bagel bites at the park was great. I had thought ahead and called some friends of theirs to join us. Fun was had by all. We came with our shoes full of sand and very tired. Now homework is being done and everyone is happy.

I think with all the changes going on around us sometimes it is nice just to enjoy the simple things and be happy with them.

A very happy Birthday!

My good friend, Dianne, wanted one thing for her birthday, a trip to Disneyland with our husbands and no kids. Her sweet husband granted that wish and last Friday the 4 of us went to Disneyland for the day.

We had so much fun just hanging out and going on fun rides and not doing parent swapping (where one gets to go on the fun rides while the other waits with the kids). We ate at Cafe Orleans for lunch. We sauntered around without strollers and weren't forced to deal with whiny children. We spent some of our time over in California Adventure on none of the kid rides except Toy Story. We went on the raft ride and I got soaked. It was the perfect day for the birthday girl.
That night we met up with some more friends, the Sadlier's, for dinner at Rainforest Cafe. We had good food and a lot of good laughs. After dinner we went back to Disneyland and watched the Halloween fireworks and went on the new Space Mountain. We had fast passes which were great because the line was 140 minutes long. It only took us 15 minutes to get through.
We came back exhausted, but happy and Dianne had her magical day. Gone are the days where we could open and close the park. We still manage to have fun in our "old" age.

Magical Field Trip

We went to Disneyland for our field trip today. We had our sitter, Kaitlyn, come with us just for fun. We weren't there for to long, but it was a nice way to shake off the sadness of earlier this week. Enjoy the pictures! We love Disney at Halloween time. It's way cool.
