Note: The second sentence of the hadith means that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam came as a distributor of knowledge and Allah is the Bestower of understanding of this knowledge and helps in acting upon it. (Mirqat)
Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu 'anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam said to his uncle Abu Talib (at the time of his death): Say La ilaha illallah (None is worthy of worship but Allah), I will stand witness for you on the Day of Resurrection. He said: Were it not for the Quraish taunting me that I testified out of fear of death, indeed I would have cooled your eyes by saying these words. At this, Allah revealed the verse: (Quran 28:56) Verily, you cannot guide to the right path whom you love. It is Allah Who guides Whom He wills. (Sahih-Muslim)
