Spring Roses

One of my favorite things in my garden are my rose bushes. I love when spring is almost upon us and they start to bloom. Here are some pink blooms just awaking for spring!

Showing Some Pink in the Garden for Pink Saturday

Today is Pink Saturday. I have been so bad lately. I haven't been posting during the week, only on Saturdays and I have neglected all my blogging buddies. I promise I will do better!

I am trying to think what to post for Pink Saturday and I noticed a lot of you are getting snow, rain, freeze, etc. It was a beautiful day today in Southern California so I thought I would post some pink pictures from my garden. At night it's been cold, but during the day, it gets up to the upper 70s. Today I noticed on my car thermometer it was 80 degrees, I had to turn the A/C on. 2 weeks ago it was a freak heat wave, it was in the upper 90s and low 100s all week. Of course, this caused havoc on my flowers. They are so confused, is it fall or has spring begun?

My pink daisies bloom spring and fall. After they have bloomed I cut off all the dead flowers and round off the bush. When they start to get blooms again they are round and full! If I don't do this, the plant bush seems to part and fall over. This is my Betty Boop Rose Bush. I love the colors on this rose bush! It blooms for me all year long! In January I will cut it back around 4 feet. I cringe every year when I do this because it still has beautiful roses on it. After I get done cutting it back, it looks horrible like I have ruin it! But I know in spring time, it will start to come back and it will produce more blooms if I had not cut it!
After all this gardening, I am having a big craving for a cupcake right about now! I will take the pink one in the middle please!

Bloomin' Tuesday

I am joining Jean over at Ms Green Thumb Jean's Blog and posting what is blooming in my garden today!
Old wheel barrels make great garden pots and decoration!
This is my latest addition to my garden. Its an old washing machine I picked it up at an antique shop. It was sitting out back behind their shop and I had a vision when I laid eyes on it! My husband didn't have the same vision when I saw it but he has changed his mind now since it has found a new home!
I love geraniums. I have several colors throughout my garden, however, I love this shade of pink flowers. It grows into a huge bush just full of flowers.
I love this rose bush. It is called St Patricks. It is always full of blooms early in March for St Patricks day and it keeps blooming during the summer through fall. Right now it has about 18 flowers on it. It is a beautiful color yellow!

I don't know why but you cannot buy a Hollyhock plant at any of the nurseries near me. I bought 6 little plants through mail order. My gardener thought they were weeds and pulled up all but one of them. (I guess he never saw a Hollyhock plant before) Any ways, this is my only plant and I was so excited that it finally bloomed this year.
I looked at this head I have hanging on my fence and I noticed all the sticks hanging out the side of it, I went and investigated. I don't know who got more scared, the 5 little birdies that flew out of it or ME!
My pink Hydrangeas are blooming . Since I have so many plants, I love to pick them and have them in a vase in my kitchen.
I HATE gophers! Anyone have a good suggestion on how I can get rid of them. I tried the trap but it keeps pushing it out of the hole! It needs to DIE or relocate! I woke up this morning to these huge dirt piles all over my lawn!

Pink Saturday - Pink Gift Tags

For PINK SATURDAY today I thought I would show some of my pink gift tags I have made. They add so much to my gifts! I also use them as book markers, in card making and I also just give a package of gift tags as a gift too. When I give or use them, I try to remember what the person likes. The other day I gave a package of some of my vintage cherry gift tags to someone who's whole kitchen is done in cherries!

Bloomin' Tuesday

I look forward to every spring to see this lavender trumpet vine in full bloom. The flowers are a pretty lavender and they completely cover the whole bush. Look closely, I have them growing on a pair of old french doors. Some of the windows are missing in the doors and the vines are growing through them. The doors are on each side of a walk way which leads to one of the side yards. I wish you could see the detail in those doors, with all the small little windows but the vine is covering it.
Here is a shot of the flowers close up.
In the front yard I have two rose bushes that greet all my guests before they walk up the front porch. These rose bushes are called Hot Shot. This is a arch way in the garden where I have red vine roses growing on it. I don't know why but the rose bush on the other side of the arch way doesn't bloom at the same time as the one on the right side. It might be because of the position of the sun during the spring months. I will have to remember that next time I position an arch way to plant roses!

This is a lavender Hibiscus tree bush I have growing by the Koi Pond
