Raspberry Sundae Fabric Flower Headband

I have had a serger for many many years, but I certainly haven't gotten much use out of it until recently. I started working with t shirts and making lettuce edges on stuff. I absolutely love the sweet little ruffles.

I call my newest tutorial the Raspberry Sundae Fabric Flower Headband. I think it looks like a rose but has the colors of the Raspberry Sunday Peony I use for my avatar. These peonies are my absolute favorite flowers, incredibly beautiful.

I used my serger to make this flower, but one can create the lettuce edge with a standard zigzag machine with a little practice.

This particular flower is perfect for photo props for your newborn or your little girl. It is a large flower (just like a peony), measuring about 5" across, but you can make it smaller if you want to. And you don't have to attach it to the headband, but also to a snap clip or brooch pin. It is too sweet!

New Fabric Flowers

I've been working a lot over the last few days to make up for the time lost when I was sick for those several days.

I finished 2 new flowers for my shop, the Round Petal Fabric Flowers and the Ruched Roses.

And while making these I decided to create another Fabric Flower Bib Necklace

Please visit my Etsy shop for these tutorials.

Double Kanzashi Flower

After completing the Miss Emily Flower I decided to fool around a little bit with it and came up with my newest flower, a double layer kanzashi style flower. It is the first of my work for Valentine's Day.

This tutorial actually has 2 versions in it as you can see here. It will be available in my Etsy shop soon. I just don't know what to name it. I'm not real clever when it comes to that. I welcome all suggestions.

Miss Emily Kanzashi Flower

My newest tutorial has taken me literally weeks to get finished. Of course most of that time I spent saying, "I gotta start on that soon". Sometimes you just get in slumps and it is difficult to pull yourself out of them.

I am in somewhat of a slump right now, probably just worn out getting ready for the holidays. I kinda forced myself to get this tutorial done. I had it to the testing stage about 2 weeks ago and sent it out to a few people to review it. I've had their recommendations for a good week or better. But today I made the revisions and have posted it in my Etsy shop.

I call this one Miss Emily, after my daughter. This tutorial includes a 2nd tutorial that I also sell separately, the Single or Double Layer Flower Tutorial #5. I made Miss Emily using cotton fabric, but you can use synthetic fabric or silk to make it too. This is just my way of making this flower, as it appears to me.

And here are a couple other versions of the same style.

Hope you like them. Thanks for looking!

Lotus Flower Tutorial

Seems I can't get too far away from the flowers. I finished another tutorial today and have posted it in my Etsy shop. This one is called Fabric Lotus Flower.

Actually I have had 2 projects in the works. One was this flower, which is pretty easy to make. It is not too time consuming. However, the other project I am working on is taking some time to get together. Once I'm finished it will be easy to construct, I'm just doing alot of flip flopping on the design of it. I think I have it pretty well figured out now though. I should have it finished soon. And it isn't another flower, lol!

My Lotus Flower was fun to make. And the fabric I used to make this one is always a pleasure to work with. I love it. The petals are made from Whisper by Sentimental Studios for Moda. Beautiful. There is a little piece of Boutique by Chez Moi, I used it in the center of the flower. The leaves are just run of the mill 1/4" green gingham. This flower measures 4". I rather like it.

What do you think?

Got Jelly Rolls?

I have been making these flowers forever and just never got around to making a tutorial for them. I am happy to report that I am finally finished with this tutorial and I have listed it in my Etsy shop

Beautiful Organza Flowers

I have added another flower tutorial to my shop. I have really been on a flower kick recently, I think I must be trying to get Spring here. These flowers are really gorgeous, so light and delicate. I love them.

The tutorial includes instructions for making this beautiful corsage and 3 flower headband. It also includes instructions for making your flower into a brooch and also attaching it to a snap clip and a ponytail holder.

I think these are perfect for special occasions like the prom or for bridesmaids at your wedding.

Fabric Flower Bib Necklace

I just love these bib necklaces, don't you? I have priced them at stores and um yeah, no thanks. So I devised a tutorial on making these at home, they're easy. You can find this tutorial at my Etsy shop.
Of course the possibilities are endless when making these. I made this one using fabric flowers, but you can use buttons, rhinestones, beads, you name it.
So fun for Spring. Oh there I go again with the Spring thing.

New Fabric Coming Soon!!

Who doesn't love fabric? I can't think of anyone, well anyone in their right mind. For me it is a passion, I can't get enough. So to appease my insatiable appetite for fabric I have made a couple rather large orders recently. I will be getting new fabric over the next weeks and months and will be listing it in my Etsy shop. And let me tell you there are some gorgeous fabrics coming out.

Here is a preview of one line from Sheri Berry called Chinese Takeout. This is new to my shop and I will be listing it as soon as it gets here. I just love it! Take a look.

Aren't these great? Look for them in my shop soon.

Folded Fabric Flower Brooches

Well, I have finally completed some of these folded fabric flower brooches. They are lots of fun to create. So many combinations and different ways to use them. I have a few listed on my Etsy shop.

They are really cute on lapels, hats, tote bags, belts, scarves, or anything really. Could even use one instead of a bow on a package.

I had fun naming each one too. I named a couple after some pretty important people in my life. One for my only granddaughter, my beautiful and sweet Patience. The other for my very dear friend, Mary, who passed away last year.

I used a Baskets of Flowers charm pack by Mary Engelbreit to make my Mary brooch. I also added some cute little ribbon accents to it.

I would love to take some custom orders for these. The choices for colors, sizes, and accents are endless. And I make them into hair clips, headbands, ponytail holders, even refrigerator magnets.

My First Giveaway

You can think of this giveaway as kinda like an open house. It is to introduce my new blog and my new Etsy shop to everyone. And it is a great time to do it, just in time for Mother's Day. The winner will be announced the evening of May 10, 2009.

I will be giving away a beautiful charm pack from Moda, which I have yet to decide on, and I will throw in one of my handcrafted folded fabric flower brooches so long as you promise not to look on the back and always remember my middle name is "too much glue". I will be perfecting these flowers in the next little while and offering them in different ways for sale in my Etsy shop. I guess that kinda makes you guys the guinea pigs, lol.

The hoops:
1. Leave me a comment here on this post.
2. Please add me to the blogs you follow, cuz I'm lonely over here, I need some buddies.
3. If you would like another entry, please write a post about my giveaway on your blog and please leave a comment here that you did that.

Thank you all very much in advance.
