Sunny Monday

Weekend working does have it's perks I suppose. Today it meant a day with eldest who does not have college on Mondays.
We did a walk through woodland and up a hill. My favourite sort. The air was cold and we strode out through the shady parts. I love the views towards Old John's tower and the colours of the landscape in Bradgate park.  There's a lot to love about this open space. So much history and natural beauty.
We walked further than I had planned, it was so pleasant and tempted us onward.
I feel very luck to have a 16 year old who really seems to enjoy walking.
After 6 miles we were both hungry and hurried home for some warm food. November you are wonderful when the sun shines.

Another Beautiful Evening

Hello Lovelies,
yesterday was yet another beautiful evening, and with a change in the weather forecast I simply had to get outside again.
These are the days I dream of in the middle of winter. So it seems a crime to sit inside when I could be outside....making the most of every moment. Nobody wanted to join me, but that was fine. I like my own company.

I took all these pictures on my phone again...and this time I haven't cropped any.

The best way to view them will be to click on the first, then scroll through them in the light box.
I LOVE the way this size of picture fills the screen...well it does on my desk top.

I'll let the photos do the talking....same route as the previous night....but walked in the opposite direction :0)

Yep....I'm STILL in love with May :0)

Out and About :: Along the Roadside

Hello lovelies,
doesn't all this fresh green gladden your heart. My favourite tree, a beautifully shaped old Oak,  is looking simply stunning at the moment..............

I love to stand under it and gaze up at the twisted branches.........

and smile at the freshest green leaves..........

At the weekend I noticed the May ( Hawthorn) blossom  was suddenly in full flower.........

 I love those pink stamens.

The garden I like to peep over the fence into was looking so pretty.........

And the Lilacs smelt delightful...........

Youngest was scooting and waited patiently as I stopped on numerous occasions to photograph more flowers..........

This roadside scene sums up May for me......frothy cow parsley, May blossom in the green hedgerows......

And flowers on the Horse chestnut trees...........

And on Sunday my front garden Poppies, who's buds I've been watching for what seems like ages now, finally Popped ...........

And I dashed out to photograph those too :0)

I'm continuing to try and get out and revel in the beauty that is May just as much as I can.

October Happy Things

Morning  Lovelies, how are you?

Today I'm just sharing a quick post, containing some of the many, simple things that are making me happy lately.

1. Planting bulbs
How I love doing this. For the past few weeks I've been picking up the odd packet here and there..............

Tulips and miniature Daffodils for spring. Happy Alliums for summer ....how I love those purple pom poms :0)

I dug lots of holes and then added some home made compost.......we've been putting cuttings, veg peelings, egg boxes and bits of newspaper  in this monster bin for 18 months. It was very exciting to finally open the little door at the bottom and see what was there..........

Gorgeous crumbly compost.......brilliant! It's the first we have ever made and I can't believe it worked so well :0)

I do love spring flowers and knowing there are some nestled beneath the soil, waiting for the end of winter, makes me very happy.............

2. Garden flowers on the kitchen windowsill.

Maybe one day I'll have a kitchen window with a view, but in the mean time making a pretty display on the windowsill gives me something cheerful to look at............

In the winter they will be supermarket blooms, but right now there are still a few flowers in my garden to pick.

3. Shafts of sunlight. My lounge faces south and catches the low midday sun throughout the Autumn and Winter..............

I love the way it fills the space with light. It's like a little compensation for the short days.

4. Walking with my sister in law.

This is a rare treat.......so nice to have company for a weekday walk, and go somewhere different. An isolated country park that I would not be brave enough to explore alone............

the sun shone and the leaves looked gorgeous............

5. Sunsets reflected in water.

The sun is setting earlier all the time, so I'm often out and about to witness it. This is a disused canal by the supermarket. A tranquil oasis in the day and a magical place at sunset............

6. Evening crochet in bed.

I do love to cosy up with some crochet on a chilly, dark evening. Yesterday I was upstairs, happily playing with yarn, by 7.30pm.......

Crochet always makes me happy.
