Simply Watercolor Class - Day Three

I'm back and today's class topic was Lettering and Typography!

It was fun and I learned a few things and will improve on my cards when I go back and redo the examples.

So here are todays cards...

This first card was about coloring inside the letter and letting the colors flow into each other.

The second card was about coloring outside the letter and as you can see I should have made a point to be closer to the letter outline so my lines maybe would have been straighter.

I am off to watch the rest of the videos for day three and may return with a few more samples from class.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day Two

Today is day two of my Simply Watercolor Class and in this class we are using watercolors and drawing mediums only. NO STAMPS!

I can't draw to save my life and today was all about drawing animals. (insert sad face here)

I tried the first technique and immediately threw it out along with the 2nd technique. Finally I decided to be brave and just do the third technique.

Meet Mr. Bear...

I am going to just say I love how he turned out. I will definitely do another one like this so I can work on my animal drawing skills and also my banner skills.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day One Continued

Wanted to share with you the last card that I made for yesterdays class.

I definitely need to practice my plaid patterns but for a first try I am pretty happy with it. I redid the sentiment 3 times and wasn't excited about how that looked but went with it
anyways as that is how I write.

Definitely need a hand lettering class next.

I am off to craft club at our church this morning so will do today's lesson when I get home.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day One

I have been in a creative mode lately so decided to try and get back to some card making and today I am taking a class called Simply Watercolor.

First lesson and I have already failed. We were to create a background using colors of the rainbow...as you can see not so much a rainbow but more on the messy dark side. But its a learning experience and I will just go with it.

I definitely need to work on my brush skills to get even strokes.

Okay, I decided to try one more time using a different watercolor set. Here is the 2nd card. I'm still a beginner and will work on my watercolor skills.

Thanks for stopping by to look I appreciate any and all watercolor tips and comments.

Like an EmBOSS ~ Ai People Launch and Challenge

I am feeling kind of old today as it is our 39th Wedding Anniversary. Can't believe I have been married to the same guy this long.

Now lets get back to why you stopped by my blog.

You still have time to play along with our current challenge over on the Art Impressions blog.

We want to see you use embossing on your card.
It can be either dry or wet embossing.

For my card I used wet embossing and one of today's NEW release images in the Ai People line.

Meet "Cake Popper"!

She probably looks like what I would look like were I to POP out of a birthday cake.

For my card I stamped the image with versafine ink and and used Zing black embossing powder. I colored the image in using my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and a waterbrush. Once it was dry I added glossy accents to the balloons and then mounted the image on papers from the WRMK Indian Summer collection. The faux stitching lines were created using my tracing wheel from my old quilting days.

Make sure you stop over at the Art Impressions blog and check out what the rest of the design team created and which of the new released images they used.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and taking the time to leave me a comment,  it really means a lot to me.

happy birthday ~ watercolor

I recently purchased some of the Art Impressions watercolor sets and yesterday I finally sat down and played with them.

I used Watercolor containers, flowers and foilage sets along with my Tim Holtz distress inks.

Not too bad for the first time playing with the stamps  don't think but definitely need to tweak it some.

Well that is it for me today, I will be back tomorrow to share another card using one of my neglected stamp sets.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Birthday Wishes ~ Art Impressions Gazebo

Thursday that means that I am up on the Art Impressions blog today!

Today I am sharing a card that I created using one of the  'Try'Fold stamp sets.

I used the Gazebo set, my distress markers and a paintbrush.

I colored the distress marker on my acrylic block and then lifted the color off with a wet paintbrush. More water on your brush gives you a lighter color so if you want a dark color just use less water.

Here is the card once I removed the twine that is tied around it.

And finally here is the card once it is totally opened up.

This was my second attempt at making one of the 'Try'Folds and I have to admit I was scared at first but the instructions that come with the stamp set worked out perfectly. When you follow the directions. More on that in my 2nd post today.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!

with sympathy

So are you like me and do you have stamps in your collections that you haven't even inked up yet?

I have so many that I have decided to start inking them up and using them.

Let me introduce to you PTI ~ Life is Beautiful along with PTI - Keep it Simple ~ Sympathy. Two sets that I recently purchased along with a matching die.

I stamped the butterflies with PTI inks and then added some watercolor using my distress markers. I then cut out of the butterfly dies using vellum and sewed it on to give it a little more texture.

Now I can say that I have used the stamps and dies and can file this set away.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.
