RF-8, 1963.
RF-8A Crusader from US Navy Squadron VFP-62 "FIGHTING PHOTO".
NOSE CONE CAMERA: Between the tip of the nose and the air intake is the location for the Pilot's Viewfinder - viewed through a scope on the instrument pannel in the place of the gunsight, this kept the pilot lined up on the target he was to photograph. There is also an "Attack Camera" in this position to take "eyeball" view shots of the target as the pilot would see it.
CAMERA STATION 1: is seen here just in front of the nose gear looking forward. It carries a KB-10A camera with a 3" focal length set at either 10 deg. or 25 deg. forward oblique.
