Ebay Auctions: Maybe Things Are Looking Up

If every weekend on Ebay would go this well, I would be one happy girl. I sold more this weekend, then I did the entire month of June. Unfortunately, price wise, I did not do so well. I sent over 300 items to auction, which ended this weekend. Of those, I sold around 31. 10% sell through rate, I'm not sure if that is good or bad?

Since I did auctions, I priced them low to move them out. The average selling price was around $4 an item. Not much profit but most of the items were going to be donated or sent to consignment. It took me less than 2 hours to pack and label everything so if I think about it, I made around $50 an hour.

I did make some mistakes by sending a few things to auction that I should not have. One is this Tyco Kitty Kitty. It sold for one bid of $19.99 It can easily sell BIN for twice that amount.

The second was a stencil kit by Tupperware. It sold with 2 bids at $20.50 Again this can go for twice, maybe even 3 times that amount.

The last mistake was this Lalaloopsy doll. I'm really not sure what I could have got BIN because prices are all over the place. I meant to start the opening bid at $9.99 but somehow put $4.99 and $9.99 BIN. Some bought it at the BIN price. I'm happy with the $9.99 because she was in the bag to go to consignment and I would not have made that much there.

I did have one auction that surprised me. I bought a bag of trivets and this little mini decoration frying pan was inside. I listed it for $9.99, the same price as the other trivets. This one sold and the others did not. What makes this sale more awesome, is it is being sent to a True Value store in my state.

Ebay is doing another auction special until the 29th. This time they have included fixed price but in only select categories.

Auctions Meh

Why do I fall for it every time Ebay has an free auction listing special? From past experience, I should know by now that auctions simply do not work for me. This time, Ebay let you list up to 1000 auctions each day for 10 days. Since a lot of my listings were ending soon, I decided to change them to auction. Right now I have over 300 auctions with only one item with one bid. I just don't get it. I started the majority of my auctions at $9.99 with $3 shipping. Most of it is plush or clothing. My mugs I started at the same price but with calculated shipping. Maybe my items are not good for auctions?

I have more listings that are ending in under 8 days. I could change them to auction for 5 days and once those expire, I can relist at another 7 days. Therefore giving me 12 days of free listings but I wonder if it is worth the time and effort?

Some items I have up for auction:

Kenner R2 D2 Radio Controlled Figure

Eddie Bauer Goose Down barn jacket This has some damage so I'm not sure if it will sell.

Vtg purse

Christmas Story t shirt

Cartman Plush

Baby Blanket

Sunday Auctions

I decided to clear out my old inventory so I listed 200 auctions. They ended yesterday. Most of my auctions ended at the starting bid of $2. I had 34 items sell for a total of $137.49 before fees. I made a few dollars on shipping but honestly, this was too much work for too little profit. Most of the items I shipped in a poly mailer and went First Class.

These were my highest ending auctions.

Coach Raina shoes starting bid $9.99 ending bid $20

Giani handbag $9.99

VTG Lipstick holder Starting bid $2 ended $9.50

Cabbage Patch Kids shoes Starting bid $2 ended $5.76 Buyer has not paid yet

Cabbage Patch Kids shoes Starting bid $2 ended $3.50

I had one buyer bid on 12 of my auctions. All those ended at $2 They were mostly Dream Pets.

The rest of the auctions ended at $2 to $2.50 Did I mention I hate running auctions. better luck next time

Auctions

I am not an auction type of seller. Most of my auctions end in only one bid and I hardly ever get a bidding war. However, Ebay had one of their special listing promotions where you could list up to 500 items at auction or fixed price for free so I decided to clearance out some of my shelf sitters. I posted 149 auctions and only 13 sold. So much for cleaning out my inventory. I was going to take whatever did not sell to the consignment shop but I found out they do not take plush.

Here is what sold and how much I gave it away for. All of these items were bought with other things and have basically been paid for so whatever I got was profit and I wasn't losing any money.

Dairy Queen Meal toy $1.99

Youngrowth Pink Teddy Bear $1.99

Webkinz King Charles $4.24 (3 bids)

Ozzy Osbourne pins $2.25 (2 bids)

Poison pin $1.99
