Springtime in the Rockies Blog Tour & Giveaway

Welcome to my part of the Springtime in the Rockies Blog Tour that runs through Sept. 27th.

Even though it's officially FALL here in the Rockies it seems like SPRING with all of the beautiful colors on the mountainside. Yesterday I was driving to a family gathering and the colors were out in force. Everywhere you looked you could see color splashed across the valley!! It was absolutely beautiful!!!

I took this picture Monday evening around 7pm as the sun was going down. I saw this beautiful view as I was dropping my daughter off at her dance class so, I rushed home and grabbed my camera so I could capture the beauty that was all around me. The valley literally glowed! I love the mountains and sometimes they become such a part of your life that you can easily forget to look at them and take in their beauty. Note to Self... Remember to STOP and LOOK around YOU! Enjoy the Fall Colors!

My favorite mountain growing up was Mt. Timpanogos. Every day I could look out my window and see it's majestic peeks. I loved seeing my mountains and when I moved to California it just didn't feel like home. When we moved back I knew it was home because I felt comforted seeing the mountains all around me.

And that leads me into talking about quilts, which always bring comfort! Right? Well, I want to share with you a new QUILT BOOK called "Springtime in the ROCKIES" by Konda Luckau and 8 other Rocky Mountain Quilters. 

Today I'm joining with my friend, Machelle Preston, in celebrating her project in the new book "Springtime in the ROCKIES" and the quilt is called "Stepping into Spring". . . it's a darling Nine-Patch and Snowball Quilt (along with a few HST's) with a bit of applique and embroidery sewn in the center of the quilt. You will find Machelle's Quilt on pages #54-59.

The BIG NEWS today is that. . . I'm not only giving away THE BOOK. . . but I'm also giving away a MINI MUG RUG that I made up using a scaled down block version of Machelle's quilt project. Isn't it sooo cute? I love things that are itty bitty, teeny tiny, and really small.

The Block measures 5 inches square and it's the perfect size to place your hot mug of chocolate on while you're working on your FALL and WINTER Projects...

I hope the winner loves it as much as I do because I almost kept it for myself. lol.

I'm excited to tell you that today my oldest daughter and I went to Barnes and Nobel to purchase her best friend, Kiersten's, book SUPERNATURALLY. It's a great read and I know that the Young Adult in you is gonna LOVE it. PARANORMALCY (Kiersten's 1st book) was the first book that my youngest daughter has ever read from BEGINNING to END and she loved every minute of it. Book Signing for Paranormalcy

It's been more than a few weeks since we went to the book signing of my daughter's friend and writing buddy, Kiersten White. It was such a blast. I have to say that this is the 2nd book signing I've been to and it was a lot of fun being with my daughter, her husband, and her friends.

David Archuleta

Summer is finally here and the fun has begun. Last week just disappeared and this week is going just as quickly. I do get to sleep in each day and I've really needed it and enjoyed it.

Tell me you remember David Archuleta from American Idol. Good. I'm glad!

He's definitely a local favorite here in Utah.

Well, yesterday he came to Deseret Book in Orem for a book signing of his new book that's just been published called "Chords of Strength" (published by Celebra , an imprint of New American Library, a division of Penguin Group). If you're interested in checking it out you can find the book on AMAZON. I've started reading it and I'm fascinated and inspired by the road he's traveled thus far in his life, quite remarkable. It's been a great read so far and I'm really enjoying it.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday...

While we were getting near the front Kenna and her cousins were interviewed by a news reporter from the KBYU Local News. They were there to report on the event.

(Note: Today we got to see all three girls on the Local News Channel 11 KBYU)

My niece is being interviewed too.
She is a HUGE fan of David Archuleta and she is often found writing his name over and over again in her notebook. She also has several pictures of him on her bedroom wall.

My other niece was interviewed too.

We made it to the front of the line where we got to see David Archuleta close up and get his signature. Kenna had fun meeting him and hearing him sing before the book signing started. We all had a really fun day together.

30's Night

I had a wonderful time at OUR Alpine Quilt Night this past Tuesday and I wanted to share it with all of you. It's taken me a few days to go through the 114 pictures I took at our 30's Night and I picked the best of the best to show you. It was hard picking just a few to show you.

Here's one of our Fearless Leaders, Flora. She and Paula have taken turns each year to lead us and inspire us. They are wonderful and generous women who love to share their love of quilting with all of us. They both have a great sense of humor and I don't think there's been one month that I haven't gone away happy. We have a lot of fun laughing and sharing. It's a big highlight for me and I look forward to going each month.


This is part of the 30's display table. Nanette made the darling teapot quilt in the frame. I just loved it!!!


Did you know that Betty Crocker is NOT a REAL person? That's something I never knew before last night.


Here's a display of food products that came from the 30's. I've used a lot of these products in my own kitchen. Infact, My grandson lives off of Macaroni N' Cheese. Whenever he comes to my house he wants me to make him "Grammi Noodles" LOL!


I thought you would be interested in seeing this original book of patterns from the Kansas City Star Newspaper. I didn't have time to look at it closely but thought that this book would be a wonderful addition to anyone's quilting library.
