BANDIDO STUDIOS COMICS AND ART PRESENTS...THE FLYING WITCH OF TRES RIOS

A new, weird tale has come upon us, thanks to the talented artist/writer Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez. This particular Bandido Studios Comics & Art submission overflows with spine-tingling scares, hip heroics and child-charged cheer.

The ten-page, booklet is entitled The Flying Witch of Tres Rios and acts as a chapter in "The Case Files of Professor Nostrodamus".  It's impossible not to be enthralled by what unfolds. I suppose that only goes to reason, considering Gutierrez's history of matching ideal imagery with snappy storytelling...

In Flying Witch, three youngsters come upon the eponymous creature when they discover her detached feet. (These particular entities abandon their feet whenever they ascend to dispatch their curses upon humankind.)  To stop her spread of misfortune, they recruit a mighty, masked hero named El Tigre, who's eager to squash the shapeshifter and her spellcasting ways.

The witch is creepy to an unnerving tee, but the gutsy trio heightens the fun in a humble yet realistic way, which would make Flying Witch identifiable to any youngster who'd happily read any EC entry given the chance.

There's also Gutierrez's atmospheric backdrop, which grazes the playful joys of summer and autumn rolled into one.  In this manner, Flying Witch touches the poetic terrains of Ray Bradbury, Mark Twain, Stephen King, Tom Tryon and old-school Steven Spielberg, as well as those magnificent, matinee features where lively luchadores always saved the day.

There's no doubt that Gutierrez's story has just the right, spirited sweep to become a classic of the indie-comic domain.

TALES FROM THE BARRIO #9: THE TITILLATING TRYST OF ERIKA AND TINA!!!

There's no end to the invigorating, provocative imagery of Arizona resident, Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez. If by some strange chance, you've any doubt, check out Tales From the Barrio #9...

I must say, what I respect about Gutierrez's artistry is its unconstrained, adult approach. You'll find no sugar-coated, fairy-princess fodder or conformist, schoolboy sorcery in Gutierrez's pages. His material is aimed at those who appreciate eccentric, Euro espionage, erotic pulp crime--and above all, gorgeous ladies!!!

Issue #9 is no exception in the latter department. I'm talking an unprecedented mingling of Tina and Erika that fans of Harry Kumel's "Daughters of Darkness", Roy Ward Baker's "Vampire Lovers" and Jess Franco's "Vampyros Lesbos" will savor: not that this particular Gutierrez, sexual feast emphasizes any depth of supernatural or bloodsucking content. It doesn't need to (though there's no telling what weird wonders yet await--hint, hint)... What Gutierrez serves in this instance is pure, voluptuous flesh at vivacious play, but of the sort that would make any immortal (fanged or Olympian) envious. I only wish I could reveal the panels, but fear I'd be banned from the blog scene forever if I dared!!!

Gutierrez, on the other hand, isn't in the least reticent, but I guess that's why he and his creations possess such an avid following and one that appeals to a broader base than some might presume. Hell, his entourage of lovely ladies alone continues to grow, as evidenced below:

If you relish steamy storytelling, matched with irrepressible, passionate visuals, Barrio #9 is guaranteed to strike your most libidinous chords. In truth, your library would be sinfully weak without something this sinful!!!

JESSE LALOCHEZIA GUTIERREZ LIMITED EDITION #INKTOBER SKETCHBOOK AND CARD SET!!!

I was itchin' for a new Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez release, and lo and behold, just in time to scratch my itch, the artist supplies a limited-edition "Bandido Studios #Inktober Sketchbook".

Gutierrez's latest compilation shows off his varying, artistic nuances and all conveniently stashed into one, super-cool publication.

Inside "#Inktober", one will find striking tributes to Lon Chaney Sr.; Caroline Munro; Tor Johnson; El Santo; the Twins of Evil; Universal's Frankenstein Monster and his Bride...plus an accompanying spree of mobsters; demons; extraterrestrials; and of course, those voluptuous ladies, carved with curves that go on forever. There's also a terrific, illustrated Gutierrez short story, "The Teleporon Metathesis", which just so happens to feature the stunning semblances of none other than Christopher Lee and Ernest Borgnine!!!

As acknowledged in my previous posts, Gutierrez's style is a blend of Italian, Spanish and Mexican horror movies; as well as spaghetti westerns; including the celebrated efforts of Paul Naschy; Jess Franco; Mario Bava; Dario Argento; and Sergio Leone. The results are sprawling and cinematic, with Gutierrez's comic panels often resembling the best in European poster art.

As a bonus to the sketchbook, Gutierrez gifted me one of his new card sheets, which features an array of phenomenal pictures, plus a flip-side image of his famous, Bandido Studios logo: indeed, a wonderful, supplemental collectible.

Supplies are of the sketchbook and card sheet are flying fast, but please feel free to touch base with Gutierrez, regarding availability. (Contact me through "bizarrechats" and I'll make certain he knows you're interested.)

One can also contact Gutierrez directly through Facebook at ...   https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=bandido%20studios%20comics%20%26%20art.

Many examples of Gutierrez's work are posted on the Bandido Studios page, so if anything stands out (and be assured, every bit will), I'm confident he'll consent to negotiate.

JESSE GUTIERREZ'S NIGHT OF THE BLOODY CHUPA-APES & PHANTOM OF THE BARRIO #3!!!

Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez has a mighty fine surprise for his fans--two, super-duper, comic creations in which they can indulge, with all the cool, brash, exploitation elements we've come to know and love from this marvelous artist/storyteller!!!

"Night of the Bloody Chupa-Apes", by its very name, invokes the gruesome, Mexican horror classic, "Night of the Bloody Apes" (aka, "The Horrible Man-Beast": a quasi remake of "Doctor of Doom", as one might know). And yes, Gutierrez's tale is tinged with qualities of '69 film, but his story equally conjures the atmosphere of  New World Picture's drive-in favorite, "Humanoids from the Deep", in the way his green simians slink their way into attack. There's also a fine heapin' of beautiful babes, including the voluptuous Tina and the buxom Batwoman; capped by one helluva rambunctious, lucha-libre climax. Also, don't be surprised if that shape-shifting, "brainiac" Baron Salazar surfaces or a particular, pasty-faced chauffeur in the "Burnt Offerings" vein.

In addition to "Chupa-Apes", Gutierrez gives us his latest chapter in the devilishly dynamic, "Phantom of the Barrio" saga. Issue #3 extends the investigative, Edgar Wallace structure we've come to expect, tinged by an atmosphere that smacks of Argento, Bava, Naschy, and Ossorio. Most importantly, the Phantom continues to heighten his reign of terror in the most merciless of ways: precisely what we fans crave.

What's neat about the Phantom is his slick, off-kilter, guitar-strummin' style: in one sense, an embodiment of Angela and Luciana Giussani's Diabolik, but fueled by the wry drive of Jose Mojica Marin's Coffin Joe and Wes Craven's Freddy Krueger.

I adore both issues and recommend them to any one with a sincere interest in collecting the best among today's indie comics.
BTW: To accompany my order, Gutierrez included a limited-edition, "Mexi-Loteria" card sheet, which presents a superb smattering of his colorful artwork. To enhance this fine collectible, the back features a reproduction of the gutsy, Pancho Gila/Bandido Studios logo. To say the least, I'm most pleased and grateful.

If you want to get in on the action (and I wholeheartedly encourage you to do so), leave a message for Gutierrez on this post or better yet, contact him on the pricing and availability of his products at ... https://www.facebook.com/jesse.gutierrez.7186.

Collectible Time #63: Jesse Gutierrez Las Vampiras Print

Just received in the mail the below, signed print from my wildly artistic friend, Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez (see Tangible Vandalism #3: June '16) : a jaw-dropping, 11" x 17" promo image for his upcoming Tales of the Barrio #9: Las Vampiras!!!

In addition to the voluptuous vixens featured, Gutierrez has staged and colored the image after the lurid posters that accompany the works of Jess Franco, Jean Rollin, Freddie Francis and Terence Fisher. Yep, this one exudes the finest elements of European, exotic, imagi-cinema.

Gutierrez was also gracious enough to include a signed copy of the black-and-white foundation piece. To say the least, I'm one happy camper.

Once again, Gutierrez exceeds expectations with his marvelous imagination. I salute him for carrying on a most honorable and stimulating tradition.

JESSE GUTIERREZ'S TANGIBLE VANDALISM #3--AVAILABLE NOW FOR PURCHASE!!!

Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez's TANGIBLE VANDALISM #3 has hit print and boy, does it ever rival expectations, but then Gutierrez's work has never failed to surprise and stimulate.

The latest installment pays proper homage to the Mexican monster-movie/wrestling superhero scene. Tangible Vandalism #3: The Mexi-Horror has it all, in this regard, including the lovely Tina and super-wrestler, the Aztec Angel as its hosts; plus Dracula; the Frankenstein Monster; and the Wolfman in a surreal "Three Bears" variation. There are also wonderful sketches of the Batwoman (based on Mexi-movie lore); the Baron of Terror (aka, the Brainiac); Phil Tucker's much maligned Ro-Man; and more!!!

Of course, if you're a Gutierrez fan, you already know what distinguishes his Bandido Studios Comics and Arts entries: ultra-detailed illustrations, snappy dialogue, inside jokes and plenty of feminine curves. Each and every page of Tangible Vandalism delivers in this respect, making it more imaginative (and therefore, superior) to the many predictable comics one finds in most mainstream stores.

If you're in tune with Gutierrez's distinguished fancies (and how could you not be?), you'll jump at the chance to purchase a copy. At a mere $5, you're guaranteed to get more than get your money's worth.

You can touch base with Gutierrez at his Facebook pages: Bandido Studios Comics and Arts or under his name, Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez. Act now while copies are still available!!!

JESSE GUTIERREZ'S BEHIND THE PANELS/GOSSIP AND RUMORS SUPPLEMENT!!!

Jesse Gutierrez succeeds again with "Behind the Panels": a superb "gossip and rumors" supplement, which grants us a tour of the famed Bandido Studios, hosted by the enticing Erika Adams and featuring the tantalizing Tina and the adorable Q.T. Pie.

This special edition offers plenty of Gutierrez's biting humor, granting us further insight into his Barrio Blues mythology. It also presents the expected, wide range of quirky characters. I, for one, had tons of fun reading and revisiting the various parts of the comedic romp--and of course, getting more than an eyeful of those lovely ladies.

If you're a connoisseur of Gutierrez's unique blend of movie-inspired storytelling, "Behind the Panels" is guaranteed to tickle your fancy; so hop on board and order your copy today.

You can touch base with Gutierrez through Facebook, under "Jesse Lalochezia Gutierrez" or "Bandido Studios Comics and Art", where other examples of his scintillating work can be found.

JESSE GUTIERREZ'S BARRIO BLUES #3 HITS THE SCENE!!!

To read a Jesus "Jesse" Gutierrez's Bandido Studios's comic is to become absorbed in not a mere mainstream tale told in panels, but rather a grandiose Mexploitation storyboard intended to unfurl in one's mind. Barrio Blues #3 is one such fine case in point.

The voluptuous Tina and Q.T. Pie are back, embroiled in buxom, revenge hi-jinks against old-school villainy. Just keep in mind, the Barrio entries aren't for kids, the squeamish or the narrow-minded. This is a grim melodrama: modernized, stylized and serialized. Gutierrez also adds realistic dialogue and identifiable references to his segments, like Cheech and Chong, Godzilla...a handy drive-in theater: all of it seasoning the adventurous panache.

In addition to Gutierrez's curvaceous ladies, I'm particularly fond of a guy named Slyde: a common enough fella on the outside, but with an inherent cool, keen sensibility. Oh, and then there's the adversarial Hector: a real despicable son of gun, if you catch my drift. Hey, a good villain always adds to the fun.

No one stirs a mix like Gutierrez, and I've seen my fill of innovative comics over the years. Indeed, whether one starts with the latest installment or goes back to the saga's foundation, it's all good, and to those who know pop culture, this one's gonna hit cozily close to home.

You can touch base with the talented Gutierrez at Facebook via "Jesse Gutierrez" or the "Bandido Studios Comics and Art" page.

JESSE GUTIERREZ'S TALES FROM THE BARRIO #6: MARS NEEDS HOMEGIRLS

My pal, Jesse Gutierrez has succeeded again in tantalizing the senses with TALES FROM THE BARRIO #6: MARS NEEDS HOMEGIRLS!!!

The issue, which features the ever voluptuous Tina, is a spirited tribute to such fine films as "Earth vs the Flying Saucers", "Invasion of the Saucermen", "The Mysterians" and of course, that ageless classic, "Mars Needs Women".

Jesse gives the tale his own unique flavor, with a flowing, mature-based plot that pulls one in and doesn't let go. It's funny, sexy and above all, one of the best damn U.F.O. satires I've ever encountered. Gotta respect the man for his ability to achieve such an imaginative, flawless blend, with some of the most provocative images in this galaxy or any other!!!

Touch base with Jesse on his Facebook pages, either under "Jesse Gutierrez" or at "Bandido Studios". In either instance, you'll find satisfying displays of his masterful work.

Collectible Time #32: Jesse Gutierrez Baron Salazar/Zexina Print

Another sizzling print has entered my hands, this one from Facebook pal, Jesse Gutierrez: a vibrant 11" x 17" tribute to the 1962 Mexican horror classic, "El baron del Terror" (aka, "The Brainiac"), as refashioned as part of Gutierrez's own specialized character line.

As Mexican monster fans well know, the print's movie counterpart, Baron Vitellius, is a vengeful force to reckon with: a dashing gent who turns into a parasitic fiend, with a bat-like head and long, devilish brain-sucking tongue. Jesse's version is modified, of course, but no less significant, for the fiend is named after the film's producer and star, Abel Salazar.

The image is also enhanced by some pretty curvaceous eye-candy, including the voluptuously vampiric Zexina. Oh, yeah!!!

Collectible Time #25: Jonathan Myers Studio Imagine8 Bilbo Baggins Print and Jessie Gutierrez Horror Comics

Two more of my Facebook friends have supplied some nifty creations for my collection, which I'm most anxious to share.

Jonathan Myers helms Studio Imagine8, where he specializes in rendering the startling likeness of action-adventure characters, including those of Edgar Rice Burroughs, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dr. Who, Star Wars and DC/Marvel superheroes.

Above is Bilbo Baggins: Myers' homage to actor, Martin Freeman, in what the artist calls "The Sting". As you can see, the image embodies the precise likeness of the famed hobbit's movie counterpart. Measuring a suitable 11" x 17", the print is a stylish piece for any fantasy-adventure fan to own. Classy!!!

Next up are two, horror/mystery-based comics from my buddy, Jesse Gutierrez. Gutierrez holds a vast knowledge of foreign imagi-movies, including those of Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Jess Franco and Amando de Ossorio. He also inserts voluptuous maidens into his yarns, styled after those seen in classic Euroshock and Hammer movies. This specialized, retro blend is most evident in "The Phantom of the Barrio" and "Zombie Quinceanera". I highly recommend both.

In fact, Gutierrez' comics flow like movie storyboards, and if given the chance to get behind the camera, I do believe he'd more than hold his own with Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino.

You can visit Facebook for more information on both artists, by typing their names at the source, or going to their Facebook work-based pages: in Myers' case, at Studio Imagine8, and for Gutierrez, at Bandido Studios. You'll be happy you visited. There are loads of inspiring visuals to behold from both talented men.
