JANE BIRKIN - A MAREE HAUTE
who would have thought, right at the end of year that jane would release one of her best albums...ever. brilliantly produced by etienne daho, it is intimate, honest and beautiful. you can hear the influences of gainsbourg & vannier but really it is janes lyrics that make this something special.

a brilliant compilation album from the coolest record label around. italians do it better is a melting pot of 80s synth, italo-disco, nu-disco, david lynch and movie soundtracks. also on the album you'll find farah, chromatics, double mixte and a fantastic cover of vivien vees 'higher'

astrid s has been around for a few years. she's worked hard since competing on 'norwegian idol' in 2013, releasing e.p.'s and collabs and now has finally released her first album. if you put this together with most of her previous work the end result is a solid mix of pop tunes full of catchy hooks.

ok, so this album may be 40 years old but it is sooooo good. a perfect mix of heartfelt drama, emotional ballads and the occasional nod the 80s pop sound. if you get the chance, check out her biopic too - i felt devastated by the end of it. finally got this album on vinyl too!

despite this being her third album, i'd never heard of her before - but what a find! honest explorations on difficult relationships, empowerment and with spoken words from her mum sharing her experiences about coming to america make for a really interesting and vibrant album. funky beats, housey vibes, latin flavours. give it a go

thank you for the days
if you even have a passing interest in romy schneider then i highly recommend this film. the lead actress is astounding - at times it felt like i was actually watching romy herself. beautifully made, honest, heartbreaking and with warmth for romy too.Labels: romy schneider
